The Bear (2022)
Very accurate show of life in the hospitality business
I watched this after seeing Jeremy talking about wanting to make a show as realistic to how it is to run a kitchen. As someone who was in the business for over 20 years I had to see how close they came.
The first 10 minutes sucked me in and aside from a few over dramatic scenes it really IS a very VERY accurate portrayal of kitchen life.
I did belly laugh at at least one scene in every episode and couldnt count how many times I said oh how true THAT is.
The whole cast is really good but I could do without the Cousin character.
9 out of 10. Worth the watch and if you have ever wondered what it is like to work in a high volume restaurant, look no further.
Diecisiete (2019)
Rainman meets Macgvyer with a soft spot for a dog
This Spanish film (dubbed in English) follows brothers Hector and Ismael and their Granny as they travel a Spanish town looking for a dog that Hector had grown attached to at a detention center he was sent to.
Hector had developed a great love for this dog he named Sheep. One day during the routine of his daily greets with Sheep he realizes another dog was in Sheep's crate. He was told that because of his love and training, Sheep was finally adopted. Devastated by this he then escapes juvie for the umpteenth time to find Sheep.
My Spanish isnt good enough to watch it w/out the ADR, so getting passed the out of sync dialog was probably the 'worst' thing about this movie.
It has subtle yet sincere comedy where I did laugh out loud a couple times.
Sarcasm!
This was a very good film that totally exceeded all my expectations. I will be watching again after learning the twist at the end (kind of predictable, but not an in your face predictability.)
It may sound like a simple film and it is, but it is worth the watch.
