How to wreck a show
17 July 2023
This has a great premise and decent acting. Writing?

Off a cliff. No one tell anyone else anything at all.

Everything is a secret (not to us).

It is totally incomprehensible. Okay, you are under surveillance. Fine. Take a walk. Tell the truth.

No one says anything at all. It makes the underlying layers pointless. Insurrection? Lmao! They had no problem meeting and discussing. But they can't say anything to new people?

This is just laughably bad. Fun idea. Wrecked by trying to be too cute. It's a shame really. This had great promise and the twists/ideas I can think of myself are virtually endless even given the early reveal.

The Batman (2022)

The Suckman

DC has truly outdone themselves in being terribad (they were already king). This movie is a complete cliche in wokeness and stupidity. There's literally no point, batman 'solves' nothing at all as batman is truly just a white privileged dummy throughout. Fitting Pattinson gets the part. There is no redeeming quality here with the exception of Colin Farrell. The movie LOOKS great but fails on nearly every other aspect. If you hate batman, you will love this movie. Plenty to hate.

What?
10 January 2022
A complete disaster.

Don't look for anything to happen... Nothing does. We follow the lives of two complete morons that cannot pull it together and then end in an utterly ridiculous scenario that never happened. None of it happened. That would be the only saving grace. If there was some message of uplift. There is none. It is a farce from start to finish and takes itself way too seriously. Was there a point? I missed it. Along with the population of the entire world.

Skip this and watch the pointless pulp fiction instead. Much more fun.

What?
13 December 2021
This falls flat on so many levels it is impossible to recount. There isn't even any redemption to save the poor dialogue and completely ridiculous scenario. There is no connection between any of the main characters and it is palpable throughout. You could almost make a case that the two love interests had some chemistry except for the fact that real people do not force such immediate fake intimacy and are much more circumspect and careful. I think it is great that indie films are making huge inroads and I want to see more of them. This project is not worthy, mostly due to poor lines, lack of empathy, and bad direction. The idea is sound enough, the portrayal.... Abyssmal.

Welcome to the new Hollywood junk zone
3 July 2021
This movie had a chance. They had some fun action scenes although the story line was sadly lacking.

Problem here is this is a perfect example of the new Hollywood. The cast was poor. Obviously cast for their race and not for their merit. Once you go down that road no one worth a darn is going to sign onto your terrible movie. So they end up with second rate B class acting at best. It's disjointed, unbelievable and is smack full of terrible actors. The lead cannot even speak English. Some mumble jumble word obliteration is disgorged. It's just bad. Buckle up, we are going to see a lot of this crap in the next few years. A shame because it could have easily been done well.

Wanna be bad
14 March 2021
Such a sweet story. Murderer with a heart of gold. The only man able to smoke in public anywhere in L.A county with no repercussions. They wanted him to be bad like Clint Eastwood but fail miserably with a thin script and a complete failure to involve the audience. There is zero action for all the tough talk and buildup as well as no building to a climax. It remains the same blase story throughout, promising some big finale and never delivering.

Chelsea takes her dog for a walk
14 March 2021
Chelsea, Chelsea. As you might imagine, this film is about Chelsea. The problem is, Chelsea isn't doing much of anything except taking her dog Ringo to the dog park. In between walking the dog she makes a bunch of bad decisions, has no real plan for her life, doesn't come up with one, so goes and walks the dog some more. Sometimes funny, sometimes awkward, it is well acted but goes no where except back to the dog park. 4.5 stars.

A good effort
14 March 2021
But an effort at what? We have small town people doing small town things. Mostly that means the males are drinking and wasting their lives. Oh well, youth is wasted on the young. But they don't stop preaching there. Ultimately, this film is about chasing your dreams and overcoming your fears. However the way it is brought about is cheesy and contrived. By my calculation, our main character is in a new relationship for 7 weeks when she leaves him because he isn't writing. Mind you, he has already quit is ridiculous drunken behavior. Give the guy a few steps. Nope. She can't. It is well acted and occasionally funny. It is equally as often awkward as the chemistry with the couple doesn't always seem to work... Or perhaps the dialogue or direction fails in these spots. Still, I did enjoy it overall. Much better film without the preaching. Not going to fault direction, acting, photography. Just seems to fall flat on script in general.

What just happened?
14 March 2021
This is slow and gets slower. While it is well acted and shot it still has a B quality due to lack of explanations and coherency. At one point you can clearly see cattle moving in the landscape during a time lapse photography shot, yet people are eating their dogs and are lucky to bag a rabbit. The film is replete with pictures of other dead animals and they make it quite clear that little to no humans have survived either. Yet not a word of explanation. Since there are so few characters in the film and at all times one or another of them is experiencing some unnamed trauma, the character development is virtually nonexistent. This culminates with the only near sane person losing her own sanity. A pointless, meandering, thrill free, disconnected mess in general.

Slow and slower
8 March 2021
This is meant to be a Christian movie about faith and discovering what is important. The three pronged storyline is used to some good benefit but literally nothing happens to anyone or anything until the very end. Dialogue is unrealistic but somewhat engaging with unlikely characters carefully not cursing. This feels like it wants to be an interesting movie but fails utterly to make its point or succeed in capturing attention. 3 stars (grudgingly).

Not Earth Shattering, but engaging
15 September 2020
This story has been told countless times if not in quite the same unique way. The script is well written though not clever, and the acting was beyond passable.

It is an engaging and interesting film, but don't expect to get excited about anything here. Just an odd love triangle with some interesting side characters and a unique setting. The lead girls both did a fabulous job of playing their characters, yet in the end I felt something was lacking throughout. The story failed to excite or engage me fully, but I still enjoyed it for the medium it is.

Different
15 September 2020
This is a quirky jumble of strangeness. Downright bizarre but captivating in an oddly compelling way. The protagonist struggles with so many things at once that it is often difficult to follow. Not the story line, that is simple enough, but the choices, the mental acuity, the constant abrupt and dark situations make for an emotional slog, challenging us and our perceptions. It is muddled and confused and intense. Liked it.

What is this nonsense?
15 September 2020
This can be summed up in a bunch of "not's." Not scary, not suspenseful, not engaging, not believable, not thrilling, not interesting. I may have left out an adjective or two but currently too disgusted after watching this crap all the way through to exercise more poetic license. Literally nothing happens in this movie.

I've seen worse but this is a disaster from start to finish. From horrible acting, poor dialog, zero character depth, bad cinematography...you name it and this goes sideways in every way that counts.

Should be zero

What the hell? You need about 3 seconds to see how bad this is... I could expound for days but it isn't necessary. Do 3 secs yourself and you will run for the hills. Guarantee your hills will be 20,000,000 times better than this trash fest excuse for hills.

Lost, muddled, pointless, meandering.
15 May 2019
Billed partially as a comedy, this film generates not one chuckle. The acting is fine, it's the terrible script that endlessly attempts to show romance and character quirks which fails miserably. I didn't watch this with great anticipation, but neither with dread. Unfortunately for me, some dread would have killed this watch early and the time used more beneficially. Character development is weak, dialogue is weak, story is passable but not fleshed out. Halfway through this beast I looked at the time and was disgusted to note half the film had passed. Is this going to start soon? I wondered? In short, no. It never does. Don't waste your time.

Unique and interesting
11 May 2019
Amazing story. This is told entirely from a first person perspective as a video game. The story is shown through a series of flashbacks (cutscenes). Because the viewer is put in the position of the player, there is some necessary repetition and confusion as the character attempts to find necessary items to effect his escape. The low budget aspect hurts the film a bit but it is more degraded by the slowness with which the hunt and find story line requires. Still a very good effort and a unique watch. 10 for originality!
