Phoenix Point (2005)
All I can say is, freaky!
A dusty, psychedelic, dystopian, raunchy, endless journey for survival. Those words pretty much sum it up.
The acting was kind of over-the-top for the marginal characters, well for all of the characters actually.
As I was watching, I realized why I couldn't find this on Netflix or anywhere else. Some of the scenes are tiptoeing the line of pornography - I think a couple toenails crossed it at times.
Almost seems like something Tarantino would do as an 18-year-old.
The Sexy Siren character with all the "toys" is the same girl who played Heels in Flashdance.
Friday Night Lights (2004)
Awesome Movie www.FootballMovieReviews.com
I agree with Larry King who said Friday Night Lights is, "One of the greatest sports movies ever made." The way this movie was filmed is great. The cinematography is as standout from many other Hollywood pictures of this genre. With a full cast of stars including super stud Billy Bob Thornton coupled with high budget movie making, not to mention a well written script, ensured this pigskin picture to be a blockbuster. The main focus of this film is the enormous pressure that is put on these high school football players and how important their winning is to the entire community. The expectations are mighty and anything less than victory is failure.
Brian's Song (2001)
Very Good Movie-Touching Story www.FootballMovieReviews.com
This movie is based on the true story of two players, in particular, who played together for the Chicago Bears in the late nineteen-sixties. One player was white (Brian Piccolo) and one player was black (Gayle Sayers). These two individuals both were running backs and they soon became the NFL's first racially integrated roommates. They eventually became very good friends and knew each others family well. One of these two players was injured and didn't know if he would ever play again - well, his friend stepped in and gave him all the motivation needed to get back on the field. The motivator friend later became very ill and his roommate was by his side through it all.
The Waterboy (1998)
One of the best from Adam Sandler www.FootballMovieReviews.com
The Waterboy is definitely in the top three Adam Sandler movies out there. You have got to love Bobby's over protective mother and his always ready girlfriend. Adam Sandler is hilarious as Bobby Boucher. I can't even remember how many times I laughed during this movie. The hits are just crazy. Sandler shows his true comedianship in just about every part of the movie, from the ghetto cheerleaders, to the coach who you can't understand a word coming out of his mouth. From Bobby's mom's weirdness to his imagination laden motivation for knocking the snot out of anyone's nose who crosses him or his momma. All of this, not to mention the suspense building drama of an underdog story.
Monday Night Mayhem (2002)
Good movie, informative. www.FootballMovieReviews.com
This movie is a pretty good one. I was surprised. It told a story Howard Cosell and his time spent inside the broadcast booth on the new live television show Monday Night Football. It gave an inside glance to the network cat-fighting and some inside the booth drama. The movie kept me glued to the television as I wanted to see what Mr. Cosell experienced during his time at the station. This is supposed to be a true story. If so, there are some pretty crazy things that took place way up there in the glass cage. Howard Cosell went through a lot during his time working for Monday Night Football and this movie, Monday Night Mayhem, exposes much of it.
