Trailer Park Boys: The Movie (2006)
Trailer Park Boys 101
For fans of the TV series, Trailer Park Boys the Movie offers nothing we don't already know. However for people whom haven't seen the series, this is a good beginning. I would however recommend watching the Christmas special, as this is a prequel to the series and offers a bit more insight to the characters. Or just as good, watch the original TPB pilot movie from 1999, shot in black and white. As good as the movie, maybe even better.
As for the movie, I liked it, I love the TV series enough said.
Movie:7/10

Jackass Number Two (2006)
Rude, crude, and disgusting.... and I loved it !!!!
It's been a long time since I laughed so hard during a movie. It's also the first time I almost puked as well. With more dangerous and outrageous stunts than the first release, Jackass 2 raises the threshold of pain and suffering even higher. My personal favourite is the terrorist skit towards the end of the film, a practical joke within a joke, pulled off with such exacting precision that the word genius should be used to describe it. I even dare say that I see some of myself in those guys, who hasn't done something outrageous or dangerous in their life and got a laugh out of it? My only regret is that I didn't think of it first! So my hat off to Johnny, Bam, Wee man, Steve-o,Chris and the rest of the Jackass gang, thank you for taking it to a higher level and making us laugh and sick at the same time. 10/10
Heat (1995)
stylish action meets intelligent script and textured characters
Heat is not just a film about good vs evil. It is so much more than that, anything else would be an insult to the viewer. The lines are blurred here, yet the course laid out in front of the viewer is crystal clear. We know a showdown is imminent, but it's the journey through the various sub plots of this film that make it worth the almost 3 hour length. Some have criticized the ending as being anti-climatic, or a sell out. I couldn't disagree more. I believe that was the point of the ending, to tie together the main theme of the plot. The characters live up to there billing throughout the film, including it's ending. 10/10 for one of the best movies of it's genre ever made.
Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
More than I expected, hope this isn't the end
Spoiler alert.
Despite the almost non existant marketing this movie recieved, I was very pleased with the film as a whole. A few plot holes aside, which i'm sure will have Trekkies scratching their heads for years to come. This movie was very satisfying. Patrick Steward once again honed the character of Picard to new heights. Proof of this is in the scenes with the Argo on the Dessert Planet. Comparisons to the wrath of Kahn can be made, but this film stands out on it's own. This was a more of a thinkers movie, and in usual Trek style mirrored the topics of today into it's story. Cloning being one. We also get quite an series of action sequences in the last hour of the film. And of course someone in the main cast dies. Sacrificing themselves to save the ship, and his friends. The telepathic scenes with Troi,& Schinzon could have been expanded on a bit more, but added a good twist to the story. Ending up being pivitol. Will this be the last film? No torch was passed on that I saw. Maybe a chapter closed, but with the possiblity for one more perhaps. Overall this was a good effort, with a more dark look than in previous films. Rating 8/10.
Red Dragon (2002)
Despite what some so called "critics"....
Have to say about this film. I for one saw exactly what I expected to see. A fairly, if not remarkable adaptation of a great book. "Red Dragon" was simply excellent. As was it's 1986 predecesor "Manhunter" While both films have their weaknesses, and strengths. They both in their own way capture the essence of the book. As this is however a review for "Red Dragon" I will let my review of "Manhunter" remain testimonial to that film.
Anthony Hopkins as our good friend "Hannibal Lecter" is once again in fine form. It's those eyes you see. (no pun intended) that gets me. The way he looks through you with those cold eyes of his. He plays the character to supurb heights of borderline campiness. Just taking you to the edge of overdoing it. But then seems to come back down. But always letting you know if he had 1/10 th of a chance, he would rip your heart out. Edward Norton was a good surprise here as Will Graham. Not quite old enough IMO, but still had that sense of quiet desperation about him. Ralph Finnes while not bad, seemed a bit understated as Francis Dolarhyde. Not quite like the description in the book. He was good, but not great either. Emily Watson however was a excellent choice the blind girl Reba. She played the sensitivity to Dolarhyde's pain quite well. ALMOST making us feel sorry for him.(I stress almost)
Overall as a prequal, a very effective, and well done effort, with a slight edge of creepiness to it. With no serious, and gory violence. And almost no foul language, which was a treat for a change. And like I said at the top, despite what some so called Critics on this forum have said so far. This film isn't worse that a full cavity search, root canal, or any other evasive procedure. If you have ever experienced such a procedure, you will know that NOT to be true. And I liked Miami Vice, and Michael Mann as well. Probably haven't actually seen the film either.
Rating: 8.5/10
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
What I expected from a film named "Star Wars"
And did I ever! This was much better than Episode One. More action, good acting, and showed us just a sample of what is to come. The only flaw so to speak was the terrible one line gags involving C3PO. And some poor dialogue. With that aside, Episode Two was a blockbuster action film worthy of the name Star Wars. Much better effort this time Mr. Lucas. Let's hope Episode Three is even better, and brings together the story lines for the events to come. Rating 8/10
Wrongfully Accused (1998)
Check your brain at the door.
I won't say much else other than if you are looking, even for half decent satire. This movie isn't it. Every gag was seen comming form 100 miles away. Leslie Neilsen has done much better than this ripe load of trash. Every old comedy gag was done to death, and it was painful to watch. Watch Airplane, or Naked Gun. Those are what satire is supposed to be done like. And two of Neilsen's best. 1/10
Stark Raving Mad (1999)
Why? Why? Why? was this show cancelled!!!
I was irate when NBC canceled this show. The best comedy they have had in years. And they throw it away. Crazy, zany, brilliant. Tony Schaloub(sp)was hilarious, Neil Patrick Harris shed his Doogie Howser image with his neurotic antics. I howled at the Halloween episode, one of the funniest moments on TV in years. Beats any other hands down. Best NBC had, and they cancelled it. I thought it was highly rated. But I guess quality means nothing anymore. Friends is the perfect example of that. IMO they blew it. No wonder I don't watch as much TV anymore! I loved Stark Raving Mad I give it 9/10.
