Aarya (2020– )

SUSHMITA SEN STEALS THE SHOW - ENJOYABLE WEB SERIES.
20 June 2020
Based on Dutch series 'Penoza' that released and rose to fame in 2010, the tone, treatment and execution of its Hindi counterpart is fabulous. Aarya stays on course, slick, unpredictable and enjoyable. I was eager to know what's going to happen next, and that's straight away a win. Recommended.

Escape Room (I) (2019)
6/10
Not a movie you need to escape from. Suspenseful and fun .
13 June 2020
I liked it, a concept of horror I haven't seen before. The whole room by room torture I've seen many times (SAW franchise) but the idea of something fun like an escape room turning into a life or death situation is terrifying. Overall it's a pretty good horror film, which surprisingly didn't have bad acting. I would recommend.

The Prodigy (2019)

Not bad, terrifying as all hell, but not bad. Gotta give the kid some credit, the acting was pretty good.

With a story that was different from your typical demonic possessed child, it held a lot of promise. The problem is that it wasn't delivered. Short build ups to even shorter lived jump scares and a ton of plot holes leaves you just wanting it over with. Infuriatingly predictable with many moments leaving you wondering why these people couldn't just use their common sense instead of plundering through miles (no pun intended) of stupidity just force the plot to continue. Another potentially great story squandered.

Not Bad.

It was really good, but not that scary... plus we got the wrong version of it and it forced us to hear this guy explaining everything.

An effective, awesome, horror sequel that doesn't really rely on scares.

This movie is one of my favorite horror films. The fact that both conjuring films are real makes it feel like you in the movie. It seems like nothing in the movie is CGI everything feels real. The nun amazing and terrifying and the fact that we all thought bill was the person haunting the place is awesome.

Average !!!

Im honestly surprised by how high critics rated this movie! Although the film really grapples with some important ideas; the Korean War Draft, anti semitism, family dynamics, sexism, etc, etc, etc, I think that the screen play was poorly written and the acting was sub par. Everyone seemed to be playong a stereotype of themselves, and dylaogue between characters didn't feel real in the slightest. I appreciate the attempt, and I love a good love story, but if i'm honest i only got half way through the movie before I fell asleep, and I am NOT the kind of person who does that! Perhaps it does get better in the second half, though!

District 9 (2009)
8/10
Amazing movie, one of my favorites.

District 9 brings absolutely everything to the table that you'd want in a sci-fi film, and then some. Filled with entertaining action, stunning effects, raw emotion, and a fairly obvious message in its backdrop, this stunningly original sci-fi will always be worthy of a re-watch in my book.

Disturbing in a good way.
13 June 2020
Its atmosphere is reminiscent to the classic horror, and with plenty of impressive plot twists, solid scares and Toni Collette's terrific lead performance, it's a modern horror classic that will leave audiences thinking about its haunting ending for a long time.

Sweet Land (2005)

Sweet, moving, touching story of life and love in much more challenging times.

A beautiful, old fashioned love story and a tribute to the American immigrant experience. A German mail order bride travels to post WWI Minnesota to wed a Norwegian-American farmer, but once there, she faces anti-German prejudice from the locals. A sweet, gentle movie about love growing played out under the wide open blue skies of the Mid West

Well-told and sober account of the investigation into one the darkest chapters of American history is gripping and suspenseful; the excellent cast helps.

Marcella (2016–2021)
8/10
Very intriguing.
13 June 2020
I enjoy British Crime Dramas. It has been a few days since I finished season 1 and I am still a bit obsessed with Marcella. I enjoyed attempting to separate the truly relevant to the extraneous; there are many subplots. I can not quite put my finger on why it engaged me as it did. It could be the combination of the music, the surprises, the acting, the main plot itself. I think though it is the main character, Marcella, herself. I find myself both scolding and empathizing with her. The actor is outstanding, I can feel her anguish and relate to determination. Be ready for a rather dark show and for a number of twists as you get through season 1.

Good entertainment and Good plot.

What a fantastic suspenseful crime drama! This series keeps you wondering what's going to happen next! I don't see how there will be a second season, but so far it's worth the watch. Just get through the slow moving 1st episode, you won't be disappointed!

Great !!
13 June 2020
This film simply could not fail with such an incredible cast but it move at the pace of their leading men and it feels like it could have been 30 mins shorter. There are exceptional moments which tie everything together and the death scenes are incredibly well acted and shot. It is so close to being a class but it is hard to ignore the CGI especially when you can see the Arthritic movements of De Niro during a fight scene. Could it have been better no could it have been shorter yes

This movie is awesome in its own little way.

Small budget, concise, simplistic, and well-directed film. Veteran Jaaved Jaaferi is terrific, and as the strangeness of their circumstance intensifies, so does the viewer's interest. Provides some good tension but not many scares. I like road horrors, and this is exactly that. It had the same basic theme: Family stuck in an impossible situation, and you get to watch them run the gamut of emotions as they get more desperate to escape. Now this may not sound appealing but it's executed so well, the atmosphere is just right, the insanity that unfolds is acted brilliantly by Jaaved Jaaferi, Vijay Raaz, Meenakshi Dixit, Rishab Chadha and Niki Walia. I liked the title song of the film very much. Some scenes were high on drama. Very rarely we get to see such emotional scenes in horror movies. Specially i loved the scenes of Vijay Raaz and the way he delivers his dialogues. To conclude, I would say it's a mild horror, suitable for family viewing during the lockdown, but genuine horror fans should avoid as this film is a psychological drama and you will not get to see many jump scares. For me it worked.

Total waste.
12 June 2020
Honestly, its very dull movie. How can a movie so dull and boring? I mean nothing good in the movie. No storyline, no good dialogue , unnecessary song just for sake of it, bad cinematography, just waste of money. Bollywood what is happening ???? where are good horror movies in India?

Not Good.
12 June 2020
I didn't really enjoy this movie. I thought the costumes were great, and the actors did a decent job, but so much about it just irked me. The conflict in the movie could have been resolved if characters actually communicated. The english countryside was ok. Bollywood has mostly managed to miss the mark by miles & this film is no different. On the whole, '1920 London' fails as a horror film.

A lot better than many Horror films
12 June 2020
This film improves as it goes along and then sporadically delivers some awkward and cringeworthy scenes. There were some commendable attempts at creating scary moments but the overall meandering nature of the plot interfered with this. Some strong performances were compromised by some weak ones. There were some impressive locations found for this film and it had the potential to be great but it under-delivers for its length.

Good Horror Attempt and great performance from Anushka Sharma.

Brilliant story line and performance by a stellar cast. Hats off to Anushka Sharma for her portrayal of Rukhsana..Parambrata and Ritabhari deliver spot on. Rarely has Indian cinema seen such a worthy contribution to the horror genre.
