Recovery (2007 TV Movie)

Came for David Tennant, stayed for the movie
9 September 2023
This movie had a fantastic message and cast, they didn't make it sappy or had 2 dimensional characters. They were real people, feeling real things. Coping with a life changing accident or illness doesn't make them only a victim, they are still people.

Just because the family expresses discomfort and refuse to be saintly doesn't mean they are not loving or trying.

Not easy watch but what a watch.

I absolutely loved David Tennant, Sarah Parish & Harry Treadway

I absolutely loved that Sarah's character, didn't want to be carer or mother and stubbornly wanted her partner back.

Because most of the time that's what we slip too don't we.

But seriously absolutely fantastic movie.

Strong Acting
17 July 2021
This is not an easy watch, jenny is not someone we like but that's the thing, Constance does not attempt to make her likable. There is no justification to what jenny did and Constance was simply amazing in bringing her to life.

We all know a Jenny, we might even be Jenny and that's why we dislike her.

There are bad movies, THIS IS NOT ONE
7 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the movie, made fun of rich pretentious people who are not actually rich. It's a satirical depiction of most upper class people and their families. They are dumb, they are shallow, hypocritical. It was funny but could have had better dialogues. My opinion is, the movie was not well received coz people are not ready for self deprecating satire of rich, beautiful people coz we still feel if we were rich and beautiful our lives will be better. But that's not the case.

Happiness isn't external things but it's internal things. Good job Vikas Bahl <3

Rubbed my privilege on my face. HARD.

This movie is a must watch, it shows how far we have come, how far we can go. I binge watched but there were times that I just had to pause and get air for sometime coz it's intense and it's surreal despite being so rooted in reality. Every single cast member were complex and had an arch, it was amazing really. I'm glad they y didn't dumb it down for us (outsiders of the community). Me pausing the show, to find out meanings of words and rituals didn't spoil my experience of the show but enriched it. There were moments I recoiled, moments I sympathized, moments I cried, but in the end I was touched by beautiful cinematic experience.

Thiruda Thiruda is still the better movie

Good story, doesn't fall in the clichéd south asian movie trope however it could have been crisper, sharper, instead it was trying too hard to be cool. I honestly almost gave up during the first 20-30 minutes but I stayed for DQ.

Things I liked 1) Story 2) The non preachy-ness 3) Kutti2 Easter eggs that the south Indian movie buffs will love 4) DQ

Things that i didn't like 1) Songs 2) DQ's Sidekick 3) The details that didn't make sense in the scams esp the ATM scene 4) They could have casted the 2nd heroine as the heroine, she was dusky and definitely prettier and I'm pretty sure she had better acting chops rather than using her as sulky friend.

This special made you uncomfortable in your seats. Questioned your actions and thoughts but still made you laugh. I enjoyed it although it did make me a bit sad. Highly recommended

Surprisingly Good

I was prepared for the movie to let me down like the race series but surprisingly it didn't. It was engaging, smart, fast paced and had a strong cast that did the story justice. I was glad the characters were not larger than life but nevertheless ambitious. Kudos to a good story, screenplay, and direction

Intense

This movie was hard to watch, it was gripping and intense. The entire time watching it, I was so upset by the fact on how it would affect the child growing up. Watch it and hopefully be a better person after it.

Leila (2019– )

Gripping, Intense
22 June 2019
I was hesitant to watch it due to the trailer giving me Handmaid's Tale vibes but I'm glad my dad convinced to watch it anyway. It's similar in the sense of dystopia world where the Goverment we are familiar with are overthrown. Many might feel it's an attack towards Hinduism but I disagree, it's a frightening and a very real take on what may happen if allow extremism of any kind to fester in society. Instead of taking it as an insult to self, let Leila create conversation and exchange of thoughts. Everytime someone says, something like this impossible, I always think of Kabul, Afghanistan. Back in it's heyday it was prosperous, cultured and thriving city and look at it now.
