Funny, Exciting, Scary, THIS is what more summer blockbusters should be like
7 July 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Most everything about the movie is different--the characters have definitely matured, Hooper's score is better (thank goodness), the special effects have improved, and even the castle itself has a different feel to it...cold and covered in shadows. It's a refreshing touch, though. The series NEEDS constant change, or else it would become quite stale...

There are many funny moments in the movie, and the hormones are definitely raging. But, relationships aside, there is also a darker side to the newest Potter entry. Dumbledore and Harry try to unlock the secret to Voldemort's past. Harry must retrieve a precious memory from a long-lost friend of Dumbledore's (an excellent Broadbent).

The last thirty or so minutes are marvelous. In particular, there is a scene in which Harry and Dumbledore must venture into a protected vessel of Voldemort's soul...very creepy, very emotional...it was well-done.

Ending is surprising. Quite sad, really. I don't want to spoil anything.

But it's a wonderful thing to see how much this series has progressed. Epic is definitely a word that may be used to describe Half-Blood Prince. But I'm even more looking forward to the next two installments a must-see.

Well worth the wait...AMAZING!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I, like millions of other people, am a hard-core Harry Potter fan. After seeing the Fourth movie (which, in my opinion, was the weakest yet) I was a bit optimistic when I stepped foot into the private screening for this film. I feared that it was follow the steps of it's proceeder. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is absolutely amazing! Filled with eye-popping special effects, great acting (Daniel captured Harry's feelings and emotions with pitch perfect accuracy) a great cast, and wonderful cinematography! This film has a Prisoner of Azkaban feel to it, but is MUCH darker.

The climax of the film in the Ministry of Magic--although brief--is Movie Magic at its best!!! Prepare yourselves for one of the most exciting moments out of the WHOLE series!!!! Overall, I was not disappointed. There ARE some differences from the book, but that will slide off your shoulders once you see this masterpiece. **** out of ****!

Poltergeist (1982)
10/10
an imaginative, creative, smart film.
8 May 2006
Poltergeist is one of my all time favorite horror/thriller movies of all time. The directing is great along with the cast and the acting. Compared to the special effects of this age, poltergeist's are not that great, but they were top of the line back then. This movie didn't make me jump at any scenes, but the whole idea of it was scary. Actually, there was one scene that made me jump, and it was the clown scene. Its classic. For some reason, the horror movies of this age lack the true horror elements like the ones fifty or so years ago. Every horror movie now is so freaking typical and almost boring at times. This is not the case for Poltergeist. Its extremely original and there is never a dull moment in the movie. Its fast paced and scary if you really think about the concept. What i think is scary about the movie is the concept of the unknown. Unlike slasher movies where you actually see the killer, in Poltergeist things are confusing and it has no boundaries in what it does. It can make a tree attack, chairs stack, a clown attack, a man rip off his face, it can even make a closet try to suck up two kids! With a regular slasher movie, the killer cant do those kind of things. They are very limited in how they kill their victims.

Overall, I would highly advise you to see Poltergeist. Its original, imaginative and scary. If your a true horror fan, you should definitely see it. I give it 9/10 A great movie. P.S, sorry for any misspelled words.
