Jellysmoke (2005)
10/10
Jellysmoke finally something of substance....
4 January 2007
I can't comment on the movie itself since it has yet to be released here, but just going by the trailer and the synopsis...it's heads above some of the inane fare being tossed at audiences lately. I keep waiting to see the title "Jellysmoke" in the "Coming Soon" column...the movies being released lately, fall short of the significance Jellysmoke indicates. The topic has definitely gained public awareness...and Jellysmoke comes right on time providing some in depth understanding of the condition. It's a heartbreaking circumstance to live with for the patient and their family in many cases... and the more that is learned and understood about it, the better the treatment possibilities become. Undoubtedly the film will offer some insight into the real life issue of mental illness and BiPolar Disorder. I'm hoping the movie will be made available soon... there's definitely an interest and an audience awaiting it's release! If the producers don't get this film to the public... it'll be a loss. The lead character, Michael Ealy is quickly rising as a superior actor, his past performances have shown that his reputation as a serious and dedicated actor is well earned. His last role as a Muslim undercover FBI agent infiltrating a terrorist sleeper cell in Los Angeles, garnered him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a television miniseries. Ealy is becoming known for his nuanced performances and has developed a growing fan base...it's pretty much a given, that he'll bring a poignancy to the role. I am not the only one anxious to see the film. There's more than a few hopefuls out here; awaiting the release of Jellysmoke. Producers...can you hear me? Can you hear me now?!?!
