Sean Penns greatest role!
10 April 2023
OK so I'm not a complete a**hole... I really like this show, the conversation it's starts and the light it shines on people...but this particular episode I found extra entertaining due to the great family, the tremendous yet well preserved and cared for hoard, and the new jersey queen herself, Delores...immediately I was distracted by D but couldn't put my finger on it, half way through when D hit her breaking point cue and started saying dry, one lined, mutterings about the importance of her hoard it hit me that she could be Sean Penns twin, no offense, it was all I could see and the rest of the episode was gold...I even imagined an 80s montage when she kicked into high gear at the end and broke the record for speed donating 10000 garments...it's currently streaming on Netflix, and there's a few more gems on this season too, you're welcom.

Breaks all the rules...not in a good way
17 November 2022
If you're gonna venture into hard sci-fi like time travel and experimental drugs then you have to define a set of rules and stick to them...even if they aren't spelled out on screen, the writer needs to at least have a firm grasp of how everything all works...this movie constantly sets a rule of time travel, even states it out right and then a minute later shows that rule not being adhered to, it ruins that whole point and draw of this movie, the inconsistencies muddle any focus you may have built up each time you think you understand the mechanics, that by the end it feels that all the learning about time travel we did most of the movie didn't really mean anything and the writers just wanted to make some cool scenes and then say oh yeah let's write an ending too, one minute.....even the real world human drama storyline are lost in the mix....3 stars for the cinematography, the actors, and the balls to make a whole movie with only a couple of ideas for a not quite there story.

Tailored for it's audience
11 November 2022
Take this movie for what it is...it's Christmas romcom a la early 2000s meant to spark that twinge of nostalgia for millennials, add in the queen of the young millennial spirit herself and the kid from glee and you've got a recipe tailored to 30 somethings, entirely alone and nothing else to do. Yes of course, gays of all ages will tune in but only the 80s born will not question the wholly ridiculous premise and goings on of this film...I think everyone involved fully knows this is just an excuse to see Lindsay do something fun and not seriously be aiming for the moon, it took all pressure off, and why not make it a holiday grab at the same time...it's everything you want from a Lohan-Christmas-romcom-millennial-esque even right down to the Ali Lohan cameo.

Locke & Key: Farewell (2022)
Season 3, Episode 8

Rushed and Reductive
17 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Since the budget for this final season was reduced, they cut it down to 8 episodes and kept the arc of season properly paced for the most part of the first seven eps, and it was good, the problem lies with having only one episode to end an entire series...a series rich in canon, lots of mystery and many character arcs left still hanging....and so I say this felt soo rushed and cramped for a final send off, and further I felt that by destroying the keys and moving on to a magicless life makes everything before it feel less than, reducing the story as a whole.

What happened to Jamie Foxx?
13 August 2022
Seriously his performances have gone down hill as time goes on... stanning for no way home doesn't count... this movie doesn't highlight anyone well except for the visual design artists... now I realize this is def one of those genre mash ups trying to draw as many eyes as it can but it's more as if Netflix made a parody of a Netflix movie...conclusion: check it out if you got nothing else to do or if you do have something to do its good background noise.

So much to unpack!!
12 August 2022
First of all the district attorney lady that handled this case needs to be evaluated, she clearly is out of touch with humanity.....now that's out the way...the docuseries itself is well paced, informative as possible while being respectful, and does a good enough job offering indirect answers to questions you may have by the gaps of information that may not have been able to told on camera.

Peter Parker stars in National Treasure remake
8 August 2022
So while Tom Holland is very enjoyable to watch he ends up being a distraction since his character is basically Peter Parker with a lil more edge and a lil less morals....not his fault but kinda is his fault....the plot itself plays like National Treasure as its very much a fantasy requiring far more than just suspension of belief but a full break from what we know of human interaction and society, leaving an adolescent taste that sours by the halfway mark (wahlberg)...that said i know this is a source adaptation, of which I know little, but I doubt it services the og fans since it's clear it relies on the names of its stars.... watch once and forget.

Felt like student writing
29 July 2022
This episode had some cool moments and started with some real potential but took a dive quickly...I tried to be fair and some of the higher rated reviews for perspective but ultimately I couldn't reconcile...I notice that next week's episode is also titled Aura as of now, I'm not sure if that's right and it's really a 2 part but I think that'll be worse.

Love this for what it is
23 July 2022
Don't be persuaded, pun intended, by all the bad reviews based on source material dissatisfaction. This is not intended to be a straight interpretation, it's a fun, light, engaging telling with some modern liberties inserted, probably to endear viewers who might otherwise not enjoy a standard period, hence people are comparing to Bridgeton, anyone calling out anything to race or historical accuracy is just old and set in there ways lol Overall this is entertaining and rewatchable.

Not just for kids
21 July 2022
This show is a gem. It's universally satisfying, the overall story is solid with each season adding and building, the vis and graphics are good, it's wholesome enough for kids yet not cringey to adults, all while doing justice to the franchise. Honestly this should have been plan for the movies, it would have been so much better than the direction the trilogy took after Jurassic World.

Best of the best
20 July 2022
The Magicians has everything mastered, characters, world building, plot. Season after season this show only gets better and is completely rewatchable over and over. Criminally underrated.

Starts strong and then...
20 July 2022
This rating is for the series as a whole, season 1 starts strong and tells new stories with interesting characters, season 2 keeps the story going but loses momentum and begins to get convoluted, season 3 adds little to the formula, loses the plot, and reuses character arcs that are dry....over all parts of the show are rewatchable but as a whole it has lost its way.

Worth the Hate
15 July 2022
Netflix keeps striking out, this was in the worth the wait category for months and guess what, nothing happens, nothing hits hard from any angle, and what takes the cake is that it barely relates to its namesake at all.

Best L&O Iteration Ever!!!
12 July 2022
Criminal intent was based around true detective genre. It was still grounded in the franchise but also all kinds of hard-boiled, Sherlock-inspired, drama-noir! Each episode is basically a novella. Vincent Denofrio is legendary, and Jeff Goldblum gives me the will to live.

Poor Lana
10 July 2022
Lana Condor has been trying to break through for a minute and unfortunately her talents are stunted by these middle of the pack productions. Boo is fun for what it is and has grinning moments but ultimately the writing falls flat and the story doesn't impact, a problem that has been snowballing for Netflix for a while. It seems like they knew it too as it originally listed as a limited series, but that could just be that the story has been told. Overall, watch and forget.
