Lady Macbeth (2016)
Who is lady Macbeth?
On many subjects I am rather strong on question and answer shows but I willingly self-admit I am very weak on anything Shakespeare or literature in general. I know basic titles and maybe some characters if they were woven into some movie or perhaps even a Saturday morning Cartoon from my childhood. So while I began watching this movie knowing Lady MacBeth is a Shakespeare character I was woefully unaware of what the title implied and what would likely unfold in the story. It is with this innocence of the movie's title and who the character references that I began watching this movie. I was entirely unaware of what would unfold. For those well versed in Shakespeare and who Lady is, or represents, the title must have been an immediate spoiler delivering an entirely different viewing experience than mine. This is an excellent film with many twists and turns especially unexpected by someone who does not understand what the title implies. I am just going to leave my review their hoping others watch this film without knowing the expectations the title foretells.
Tyson's Run (2022)
Storyline promising, writing, performances, and quality are anything but
Even though a couple of my favorite actors are here they cannot save this movie from being anything but bad. It is apparent this was very low budget, at least I hope it was, perhaps someones passion project. My guess is it was produced very quickly and the actors for whatever reason lacked any real preparation to become their characters. It was as if they were filming the first rehearsals and calling it good enough.
Yes the message is sweet and I enjoy a nice feel good movie but there still has to enough quality to make it worth watching. This was just too painful to watch for more than a few minutes at a time. Even trying to limit the awfulness by fast forwarding to another scene proved not enough to keep going. It is one of those rare movies that is so bad I removed it from my "continue to watch list" so I never have to see it in my feed again.
Zombie House Flipping (2016)
Staged, irritating, incredibly insulting to the DIY genre of useful programming
Like many growing DIY titles these days, ZHF tries to stand out with scripted gaffs, over dramatization of routine issues, and clumsily creating their own dramatic failures not even first time DIY amateurs would make. Every episode is filled with this team of "professionals" suddenly discovering a problem in their plan that halts work...like a simple load bearing wall they missed or other routine consideration. Que the dramatic music, looks of desperation, and cliffhanger break to a commercial all adding to the failed and unnecessary artificial and insulting drama.
Get back to a what a DIY program should be..demonstrating how to get the most out of rehabilitating spaces. Stop insulting the audience with bubblegum keystone buffoonery.
