Erin & Aaron (2023)
What happened to Nickelodeon?
I grew up during the 2000's prime of Disney and Nickelodeon. Having grown up with shows such as That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, iCarly, Victorious...I often find myself wondering how we got here. While Disney Channel has managed to keep itself afloat past its prime, Nickelodeon hasn't had a hit show since 2013 when they prematurely canceled Victorious. I came across this show on Netflix and decided to give it a go just out of curiosity to see what Nickelodeon was producing for the kids these days. Not even 10 minutes into the first episode, I immediately recognized the plot from somewhere. It all seemed so familiar. I couldn't quite put my finger on it....
Drake & Josh
This show is literally Drake & Josh. The entire idea is stolen from Drake & Josh. You can't make this up. Nickelodeon has officially run out of ideas. Honestly, Nick and Disney should just wrap it up. Children's TV is dead. The era I grew up in is long gone and I sincerely pity the kids of today who have to grow up with THIS.
Afterlife of the Party (2021)
Good Film
Most of the angry, 2 star reviews are from people who just watched "He's all That" and "The Kissing Booth", so I can't really blame them for being in such a bad mood.
Afterlife of the Party simply caught many of these reviewers on a bad day. The movie is good. Cliche? Yes.
Is this movie Oscar worthy? Of course not, and I highly doubt the creators were going with that intent anyway. It's a warm and lighthearted film. Justice's charisma definitely carried the film and it's great to see Justice in more "high profile" roles. I've been watching her career for a while after the demise of Victorious, and seeing her play small roles and guest spots for about 7 years made me really pity her. So it gives me joy to see her in leading roles again.
To those not sure, just give the film a try. It's much better than He's all That.
Edit: who's disliking my review? You all are more miserable than I thought...
