Smallville: Power (2009)
Kill me now. No one wanted Lana back.
Currently binge watching all seasons again, haven't seen in years, and I can't believe Lana is even worse than I remembered, I can't believe Clark yet again got back with her, Clark is utterly pathetic for Lana, it's very unnattractive to watch. Just a reminder recap of their relationship before she left, she is meant to be so in love with Clark but can't tell him apart from someone wearing his face with a complete opposite personality (Bizarro) she even had to nerve to tell Chloe to move on from him when Chloe noticed the difference, and she doesnt even believe Clark when he tells her! My God, in fact had she ran away with Bizarro at the end of that episode I'm pretty sure everyone would have been happy, especially since they had a better relationship in half an episode than her and Clark ever did, because Lana and Clark are just not meant to be, they don't go well together, they don't understand each other or even know each other really, all they do is make each other miserable and makes me miserable and the fact it was dragged out for 7 seasons is insane, it really drags the show down, when have they ever been happy together? All I can think of is that one episode where he was human. All of Lana's relationships are pretty bad, her first season boyfriend was probably her best, anyway Clarks relationship with Lana was terrible and would have done the show a massive favour by ending it sooner but yet again they want to continue beating a severely dead horse so he makes up with her yet again! How on earth can you even come back from that? She literally couldn't tell you apart from a phantom that she was living with for weeks and even sleeping with him (her and Clark don't even sleep together), and falls more in love with him than the real Clark and to add in all the lies and secrets she has been feeding him over the past year, how can you pick up a relationship after that like? She literally fell more in love with someone pretending to be you than actual you, if there was ever proof needed that you don't belong together that's it,Clark even admits once or twice that he doesn't actually think Lana is the one for him but yet still runs back to her everytime, it's ridiculous, I want to scream everytime they're on the screen, it wasn't so bad in the first few seasons but after 7 SEASONS!!! I just can't take it anymore, Clark is a total moron for Lana, always was and god only knows why, the only thing she has going for her is her pretty face, everyone would have liked it much better if Clark actually walked away from Lana and actually grew a pair.
Lana should have been gone from the show seasons ago or at least her and Clark should have stayed broken up, when she got with Lex their relationship should have ended then, she literally slept with Clark's enemy and was going to marry him, Clark should have walked away then. Or at the very least after Bizarro but yet again he didn't, and then again this season, they should have left it with actual closure of them moving on maturely but instead YET AGAIN they get back together and the actual love of Clark's life (Lois) is thrown to the curb. The fact they actually tried to turn Clark and Lana into star crossed lovers was ridiculous, the writers just couldn't leave them end their relationship maturely by admitting they weren't supposed to be together, no instead they had to write how they're forced apart, Lois deserved much better than that, thankfully the later seasons do develop it so well that in season 9 or 10 had Lana come back and been able to be with Clark he would not choose her over Lois at all as he has actually found the one he is meant to be with but it still is annoying what they did in season 8, Lana should never have been brought back. Basically Lana and Bizarro were a better couple than Lana and Clark lol. Clark also deserved better than to be rendered pathetic again by Lana Lang.
Lana is probably my least favourite character ever, even the villians on the show are far more likable than her, I really feel like the writers wanted us to hate her, how else can you mess up that badly? Having to sit through her and Clark's insufferable relationship for 7 seasons is painful! Clark can do and does do much better than her. I really wanted to skip these season 8 episodes (which is a shame because first half of season 8 is pretty good especially considering most of the original cast is gone) I just can't handle Lana anymore after binging all the seasons but I forced myself and I'm beyond done. Lana would actually put my off watching the show for a long time again.
This review was kind of all over the place so sorry about that but I'm just about to explode over Lana, I recommend not to binge watch this show, all that Lana at once is not good lol.
Smallville: Siren (2008)
A lot of things I can't believe
Currently binge watching all seasons again, haven't seen in years, and I can't believe Lana is even worse than I remembered, I can't believe Clark yet again got back with her and I can't believe there is a review on here actually taking her side in turning the blame on Clark this episode. This and the last episode showcase why Lana is so hated, she is horribly wrote, even the villians on the show are more likable than her, I really feel like the writers wanted us to hate her, having to sit through her and Clark's insufferable relationship for 7 seasons is painful, Clark can do and does do much better than her. She is meant to be so in love with Clark but can't tell him apart from someone wearing his face with a complete opposite personality, she even had to nerve to tell Chloe to move on from him when Chloe noticed the difference, and she doesnt even believe Clark when he tells her! My God. Then this episode she has the nerve to try to make it like it's Clarks fault that she keeps falling for men who aren't Clark and it's Clark's fault she keeps lying to him, and it's Clarks fault she couldn't tell between the man she supposedly loves from a phantom, the list goes on, I was so glad when Clark responded to her turning the blame on him by calling her out on this but then he ruined it by yet again going back to her, in fact had she ran away with Bizarro last episode I'm pretty sure everyone would have been happy, especially since they had a better relationship in half an episode than her and Clark ever did, because Lana and Clark are just not meant to be, they don't go well together, they don't understand each other or even know each other really, all they do is make each other miserable and the fact it was dragged out for 7 seasons is insane, it really drags the show down, when have they ever been happy together? All I can think of is that one episode where he was human. All of Lana's relationships are pretty bad, her first season boyfriend was probably her best, anyway Clarks relationship with Lana was terrible and would have done the show a massive favour by ending it sooner but yet again they want to continue beating a severely dead horse so he makes up with her yet again at the end of this episode, how on earth can you even come back from that? She literally couldn't tell you apart from a phantom that she was living with for weeks and even sleeping with him (her and Clark don't even sleep together), and falls more in love with him than the real Clark and to add in all the lies and secrets she has been feeding him lately, how can you pick up a relationship after that like? She literally fell more in love with someone pretending to be you than actual you, if there was ever proof needed that you don't belong together that's it, they even admit at the end that Clark is doubting that Lana is the one for him but yet still wants to get back with her, ridiculous, I want to scream everytime they're on the screen, it wasn't so bad in the first few seasons but after 7 SEASONS!!! I just can't take it anymore, Clark is a total moron for Lana, always was and god only knows why, the only thing she has going for her is her pretty face, as for the review and Lana saying Clark has hypocritical standards, how does he when he actually does for the most part live up to his own standards? And excuse Clark for actually wanting a nice girlfriend, that's all the standards he has for Lana and it's somehow Clark's fault she can no longer meet these standards. Clark isn't asking for her to be perfect, he's just asking for her not to keep falling in love with other men and lying about everything, especially after the fact he told her his big sercret of being an alien, the whole reason he came clean is so they could have trust and then she just starts lying instead of him and her lies are far less noble than Clarks were. Even what went down with Lex, she somehow got away from any blame in that too, yes what Lex did to her with the baby was horrible but it was Lana who got herself into that mess, it is Lana who slept with Lex and agreed to marry him but somehow this is forgotten just because she was going to call off the wedding after she spied on Clark to get his secret, she gets no blame in the show for anything she does, it's always someone elses fault and then with her kidnapping Lionel and pretending it's for Clark's sake LOL Lionel has been helping Clark more than Lana ever did and then her spying on lex and trying to frame him for her murder, and she fakes her own death leaving those that love her in pain thinking she is dead, just horrible and not to mention the girl she kidnapped and woudn't bring to the hospital because she wanted to monitor her, the list goes on and on but no matter what she does Clark will still go back to her and she will still recieve no blame, she has to be one of my least favourite characters ever, and this episode angered me especially after the last one.
Lana should have been gone from the show seasons ago or at least her and Clark should have stayed broken up, when she got with Lex their relationship should have ended then, she literally slept with Clark's enemy and was going to marry him, Clark should have walked away then. Or at the very least this time after Bizarro but no, and then again later this season when Lana leaves the show, they should have left it there but YET AGAIN they get back together for the few episodes next season, which i still cannot believe they actually brought her back again next season, and tried to turn them into star crossed lovers and it was ridiculous, the writers just couldn't leave them end their relationship maturely by admitting they weren't supposed to be together, no instead they had to write how they're forced apart, Lois deserved much better than that, thankfully the later seasons do develop it so well that in season 9 or 10 had Lana come back and been able to be with Clark he would not choose her over Lois at all as he has actually found the one he is meant to be with but it still is annoying what they did in season 8, Lana should never have been brought back. Little House on the Prairie: He Was Only Twelve: Part 2 (1982)
This episode just didn't work ,the wrong child was used
I love Little House on the Prairie and I liked the first part of this episode, I thought it was much better and it was more exciting, and I have no issue with the miracle in this episode, I don't really see anything to dislike with that, I just think it could have been done better, Little House has always believed in miracles and miracles do in fact happen in reality but rare obviously. My issue with this episode was two things, firstly I just couldn't buy this being Jason, It should have been Albert, Charles going through all this effort and unable to accept what happened, I can't buy this for Jason, not only did he only adopt him a year ago but Jason had very little screen time so we did not see the importance of him to Charles or the bonding like we did see many times with him and Albert, Albert is the son he never had and always wanted, he is the one I would believe Charles would lose his mind in grief for but I just don't buy it for Jason, sorry. I also agree with those saying this is against the series, as this series does always teach us to accept what can't be changed and the fact that nothing would make Charles accept it and he utlimately wanted to change God's plan for Jason.....again if this was Albert I could understand but it just seemed so farfetched for it to be Jason, I just don't feel much for Jason or Cassandra, we didn't see enough of them to care that much, I don't really consider them part of the Ingails, sorry but I don't, they came too close to the end and were in very little, they just weren't Albert so it just didn't work for me. The fact that Charles gets a miracle for Jason but not for Albert in the movie is annoying to say the least.
When I started watching all the seasons of Little House on the Prairie my dad always told me one scene he always remembered in it and it was actually the miracle scene in this episode (I feel like he remembered it more because of how farfetched it was rather than because it was so good but that's how my dad is lol) anyway, he did always remember this BUT he thought it was Albert, my dad hasn't seen this since the 80s so he had it in his head that it was Albert who he prays for a miracle for and so I was expecting it to be Albert which is another reason I am dissapointed with it, in fact Jason and Cassandra were so irrelevant in the story that my dad doesn't even remember their existence so again, this episode might have been a lot better if it was for Albert, or Laura or Mary or Carrie.
Little House on the Prairie: Oleson vs Oleson (1981)
Feminists stay out of Walnut Grove please.
I love Little House on the Prairie so much, and one of those reasons is because it is not a feminist show, it is actually anti feminist since it's main theme in it is that family values and morals are most important of all, it also highlights the differences between men and women, both in biology and the bible and that they were given different roles for a reason and the characters in this are always true to this and usually true to the time, as in most women in the past actually loved being women and knew how important their role was unlike today where women seem to want to be men and a woman's role has been erased from society, so needless to say I hate feminism and the fact that it ended up having a feminist episode has dissapointed me greatly, I should have guessed since there was a few feminist jokes in the end episodes of season 6 so I wasn't suprised in a way and I found those jokes very out of place too since they were obviously modern jokes but it seems there was 2 new writers that liked this angle for whatever reason but they were just jokes so I didn't mind but Chris Abbott wrote this dreaded episode and her other episodes were not good either with the exception of May I Have This Dance, she wasn't with the show long so that's the only reason i could see how she could write the characters so badly, she still should have done better. I would have thought if anything came up like this in an episode it was be Laura and Almanzo as it would have made somewhat more sense since Laura and Almanzo are the ones who fight a lot and Almanzo has made it clear what he wants his wife to be like (which the writers kept changing with this too, the episodes Michael Landon wrote and a few others made it clear he doesn't want his wife working and Laura is okay with this, then the ones wrote by newer writers had Laura not okay with giving up teaching and Almanzo was okay with this so they kept going back and forth which is why I wish Michael Landon was the only writer or at least the main one) but back to the episode at hand, the fact it was mainly Charles and Caroline is so out of character I can't even, Caroline is always the voice of reason and always gives the best advice and not to mention Caroline has always valued her role as a woman, wife and mother, and she is also a bible following woman so to see her turn feminist for an episode is just so out of character. It's kind of ironic Little House on the Prairie having a feminist episode since it was feminism that was the cause of destroying everything Little House In The Prairie is about, Family, God, Romance, Marriage, Children etc. The family unit and the beautiful roles of men and women, feminism butchered that so it is kind of funny making an episode with it. There was other episodes in the series that dealt with women's rights in a more classy and subtle way which was not only way better but more accurate of the time and more in character, women did not walk around demanding "equality" back then and women didn't walk around victimizing themselves like today, these are all modern ideologies pushed onto women back then, women back then took value in their role and knew it was just important as a man's role so they were happy, women did want they wanted, it just isn't want women are told to want today. People ignore the reality, men and women didn't have "equal" rights because they're not equal, in worth yes but not equal we're different, women and men understood this which is why most women did not support the sufferages, the most accurate part of the episode is all the women shutting the door on Caroline as she went around, that is what would have happened then. Anyway Isn't it ironic how women were alot happier when they had less "rights"? The more "equal" society got, the more depressed women got, It's almost as if men and women were meant to be like how they are in Little House on the Prairie. Make men and women great again.
Anyway thanks but no thanks, again one of the reasons I love this show is because of it's strong traditional values and morals and the family and romance, it's bad enough everything today is infected with this filth, I don't need it on the greatest family show of all time, but I will forgive the show, every show has a bad episode now and again, I'd like to pretend it doesn't exist. I'm actually so glad the other reviews here agree with me and that most can see how out of character it is.
Nellie and Percival were the only ones okay in this episode. Caroline is normally so much better, writer what were you thinking? I haven't liked any of the new writers over the last season.
This episode sums up feminism in a nutshell though, all the women in the town were living their lives happily and then a feminist comes to town and fills their head with nonsense they never even thought about to make them feel oppressed so that they start fighting with men and being miserable, pretty accurate description of what the movement did to women.
All the feminists feel free to thumb this review down, it's so much easier to scream "misogyny" and "equality" than actually knowing the real history and the meaning of those words.
