Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

Such a fun watch

Honestly I only recently watched the first movie. DC movies are almost always a letdown for me, so I wasn't in any sort of rush to see Shazam. I watched it out of curiosity and I am so excited that I did. This sequel has an amazing story, wonderful cast, some great tear causing moments and a DRAGON! A super incredibly cool dragon that I love.

I don't understand the hate this movie has received when it's honestly the perfect family superhero movie. Every part of this movie is lovable and the entire cast, crew, and writers should be proud of what they created. Both of the Shazam movies are the best of the dc universe.

Ghost Ship (2002)

Solid

I don't care how many movies I see, there isn't an opening scene quite like this movie. It's such a horrific scene and done so well. It gives you new fears.

The cast all gives their all do every part of this movie. It has its moments that make you scratch your head but overall it's a good flick and worth the watch. Emily Browning always steals the show and she clearly started at a young age. She's captivating.

Isaiah Washington plays himself of course, I think that's just him and who he is but overall always a good actor for anything he's in. He'll always be Doctor Burke to me though.

Solid film, holds up okay. Love the ending.

Knock at the Cabin (2023)

Worth a Watch

Solid Shyamalan movie. You never quite know what you'll get with him. I've always been 70/30 in his favor for movies. I was excited to see this one and I'm happy to finally have. The acting is fantastic. Every person pulls their weight and makes the situation feel unsettling. Kristen Cui might be the best child actress I've ever seen. She is flawless and you feel her emotions clearly.

Bautista is becoming a favorite of mine. The way he performs each scene is intense. One of the more successful transitions from wrestler to actor we've seen. He's capable of sliding into roles entirely and makes them believable, AND each role is different. Not just copy/paste of the actor *cough cough dwayne*

Beast (I) (2022)

Fun family film

I'm here for the whole movie. Idris Elba is a favorite of mine and I doubt I'll ever not enjoy him. (He made Sonic 2 amazing. I'll fight anyone who argues. And of course who doesn't love him in The Wire?)

I just want to hug all the lions. If not friend why friend shaped?? All I had was jealousy. I want to hug the baby.

Fun watch, typical creature feature vibes.

I'm not, not on the lion's side. It reacted how it felt necessary.

Honestly creature features are never the best films but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it for what it is. The scenery is beautiful, the way the backstory is fed to you is nice.

Ms. Marvel (2022)

Worth Every Minute

I was unsure about moving forward with this one because of reviews I've heard. Then I remembered other movies/shows that had bad reception from marvel-bros were amazing.

This is about a family originally from India until the Partition, moved to Pakistan and later to America. It's beautifully written, fun, and a real immersion into the story. I wasn't ready for it to end.

I generally love movies and the experience of watching them. This one has you feeling entirely uncomfortable and then it just gets worse and THEN you find out Lena Dunham is in it which is insulting.

I very rarely don't enjoy movies while watching, but when it completely destroys the entire plot of the previous movie it's hard to finish. I'm unsure why they even made a second, and why it was so bad lol.

Bad Reviews Didn't Pay Attention

So first off - the entire montage at the beginning explains that police forces have been dramatically dropped, hundreds were fired. Road rage and accidents are up.

Spoilers: A man gets mad a woman didn't apologize to him for an apparent slight of not offering a "courtesy tap" on her horn, so he decides to kill her and those around her.

Just a week ago in real life I gave someone a "courtesy tap" and they almost hit two cars to get on my bumper and follow me for two miles - this to say it's a creepy thriller storyline of what someone who is UNHINGED would do.

To address the novel of a review from someone who didn't pay attention: he was sitting at the stoplight at the beginning because he spaced out. He answered that question. The exposition of the gas station clerk and other customer explained the cops won't be there in time which just added on to the information so many were fired.

Crowe delivered a wonderful performance.

The only thing I wish is that we had more back story to the mom and to Crowe's character.

It's a fun thriller to watch especially if you want to be scared of being road raged during your morning commute.

Ready or Not (I) (2019)

Fun horror movie

This movie is wonderful. It crosses the line to comedy a lot, doesn't take itself too seriously and keeps an interesting pace. I wish I could watch this for the first time all over again

This is the worst "true crime" documentary ever. It's a 4 episode red herring of absolute trash. It shows how internet "sleuths" ruined someone's life, how they became obsessed with this poor woman, and someone should 100% check out the one guy who made a Facebook page for her because he is obsessive and probably a serial killer.

Not a horror, rating stands

It's not really a horror, more of a thriller but leans more to drama. It was wonderful seeing a horror movie that isn't just a bunch of white people yelling in the woods.

Beautiful Music

Beautiful music accompanies a dark story. The world of arts is a competitive one, and Juliet and her sister Vivian learn this lesson. It's visually appealing, the story is good, and it has some Dark Swan vibes that I'm digging.

Basically sums up how I feel. You have the potential for something but with a clunky story line, a random exposition given that you expect to be touched back on later but isn't, it basically falls flat. Logan Huffman delivers strong for what he's given, but I'm just left with question marks.

I clicked on this movie because if we are being honest I'm currently extremely depressed and just wanted to watch a horror movie. This is a fun thriller, with a good story. Some of the actors, specifically a little girl, are horrible actors and not good. It's a good movie to pass the time and at least enjoyable to watch one time.
