The Power of Parker (2023– )
8/10
Lighthearted and enjoyable to pass some time
15 August 2023
The Power of Parker isn't going to win any awards for services to television. Having said that, it provides plenty of lighthearted and nostalgic humour (I say that despite not having been born when this was set). If you're a fan of the cast members, you'll be a fan of this.

I watched the series in two sittings, it made me chuckle throughout and I had a smile on my face for most of the episodes. No, it's not a groundbreaking comedy. No, it hasn't got laugh out loud and roll around on the floor in fits of giggles moments. But it IS funny, despite what other reviews may say. The storyline isn't actually that far fetched and there are loveable characters, as you can expect from the names in the cast list.

This is a how for those who are fans of (northern) British humour and TV. The show felt like a warm hug and a good cup of tea on a rainy afternoon. If recommend it and watch it again. Give it a go before you write it off.

Barbie (I) (2023)
9/10
Wildly misunderstood by the poor reviewers.
23 July 2023
Unfortunately, most reviews that I've read here that score this film poorly explain so clearly that the reviewer did not understand the message of the film. It is not anti-men, it does not portray men as "stupid". Take a moment to think about how women have been portrayed in movies over the last century - oh yes, just as Ken is here! The movie exaggerates this, yes. That is the point. To clearly (and humourously) highlight the inequalities when the roles are reversed. Stop being offended by something that isn't offensive and take a bit of time to actually think about the film that you have watched.

The film was fun, emotional, moving, sad and empowering in many ways. I must admit I hadn't expected to enjoy this film, but wow, what a surprise!

Squid Game: Kkanbu (2021)
Season 1, Episode 6
10/10
I've never dashed to the reviews quickier than I did for this episode.

The moment that the credits started rolling I knew I had to check the reviews immediately. Through my muffled sobbing I realised that I wasn't the only viewer that had been profoundly moved by this episode in particular. The staging, the music, the colours... I felt like I could almost smell the room as if I was a character in the game myself. I'm rarely shocked by anything that I watch on TV, but this is an episode that will stay with me for a long, long time. Humanity at its very worst, and simultaneously at its best. A pure masterpiece.
