The Lincoln Lawyer (2022– )

Can't understand the negative comments
8 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I say I can't but them I wouldn't expect Republicans to rate this any more than a 5 beacuse of the cast and backgrounds.

I've not the seen the film, not read the books and frankly I don't need too.

This is a really great series that Netflix have put together.

For a courtroom drama the pace is quite quick which is a little unusual but that's what kept me hooked. The script has comical witty and serious elements blended in together.

There are a couple holes in the story for example when it was obvious to a viewer earlier but not until episode 7 the daughter suggests why the defendent did not want to delay the trial for as long as possible which led to a significant development.

Other than that I hope for season 2.

Lacking any substance whatsoever
13 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start with what was good. The acting and casting I don't fault apart from LH, the editing fine, the set designs and camera work all fine.

The bad is that there is ultimately no real story here and what there is, is quite confusing and far too many why questions and it is far too slow to get going!

Why would a wealthy man leave alot of money to a number of so called friends that did nothing short but exploit him or do deceitful deeds (apart from LH's chracter).

Why would he say I've poisoned you but not really.

Why didn't he tell his daughter or wife he was terminally ill.

Why were there flashbacks of RcCs character first wife's death.

Did RC's character go to the old guy just to get the poison this isn't clear at all.

It's a shame they didn't explore the death of the first wife more I thought that was why RC 's character wanted to bring the friends together to expose the truth using the poison.

Overall no story no plot too many questions left unanswered and too slow to get to any real point, not impressed at all.

"She's very attractive"

Warning: Spoilers
Oh wow. It's June 19 2021 and I have just been transported back to the early 80s where political correctness was non existent and I absolutely loved it. Cheesy lines with mild hints of sexism and light hearted humour but all tongue in check. Nevertheless actually an interesting plot some of which is fascinating. Drones/tablets/designer/driverless cars/retina scans all of which exist today coupled with designer bullets and speeding bombs. If your an 80s person then this is something that gage your interest for some evening entertainment. Acting is a bit hit and miss Kirstie Alley just shouts and the bad guy was a but wooden. Tom Selleck was pretty decent though. And the kid from Flight of Navigator is in this as well! Not amazing but above average.

Winner for the most random soundtrack in movie history
18 May 2021
Bizarre backing music to the scenes in this entertaining if simple action film. It won't win any awards on plot, script or acting but if you like something fun and simple for a wet and cold evening you could do worse. Shout of out for Big D who really adds to the bizarreness.

Ideal for ages 13 to 17

Allegedly faithful to the graphic novel?

Season 1/episode 1

Interesting concept but this really has very little to do with Sherlock Holmes/Dr Watson.

The main problems I with this is that the modern twist of script/dialect/language and background music just doesn't work in a TV show set in Victorian London.

I'm not convinced by the acting either (e.g. Whoever is portraying as Dr Watson is aweful). In addition, I find it difficult to feel any connection to any of the characters which leads me to not be terribly bothered by the fate of them.

Overall the audience it's aimed for are for teenagers. Any adults aren't likely to be impressed.

Absolutely terrible. I managed 20 minutes before switching off. This does not pan well for any proposed Beverley Hills Cop movie.

It's a costume version of x factor with people who claim to be celebrities. That word doesn't really mean much in 2021 because even the most turgid youtuber is considered as such.

Absolute cr*p.

What was Bruce Willis thinking
19 December 2020
No plot to speak off Acting is absolutely pathetic The action sequences are dreadful Their is nothing redeeming about this film I can only think the budget was spent on Bruce's wages This sort of rubbish to me is really tarnishing Bruce's legacy as he's made quite a stinkers over the last 10 years

Not a pure action movie and certainly no John Wick
9 December 2020
I disagree about the criticism of the wrong casting. Aside from Common who was terrible. and it was nice to Geena Davis casted.

I think the problem with this is that it didn't know what it wants to be. On one hand it's a family drama on another an assassin action thriller. Unless it's going to be 3 hours long I don't see how you can put the two together coherently and also have a John Wick style kick ass roller coaster to keepnthe blood lust alive.

Overall not bad but not brilliant. Worth a free viewing on Netflix.

Not terrible but not terribly engaging either
1 December 2020
It was okay as Tuesday night flick with beautifully shot scenary and camera work but sadly there was a number of issues.

Whilst Idris and Kate take a hammering with the injury/shock/elements/lack of food the faithfull companion (dog) is doing just fine for three and bit weeks.

Kate's acting leaves a little to be desired and it seemed rough around the edges and flat.

Idris was better but still can't seem to shake off that Luther vibe even when stuck on a mountain.

Overall I couldn't get into the characters that much really, if they had died I'm not sure I'd have cared that much.

Another dumbed down Adam Sandler movie
26 November 2020
I thought he'd redeemed himself with Uncut Gems but this is a throwback to the majority of the poorly scripted, acted and executed films for the last two decades.

This is absolutely cringe worthy. Glad I skipped it on Haloween not so glad I watched it a dull cold wet and cold English November Thursday evening.

Don't bother with this.

Stop talking to the camera/audience
3 October 2020
Millie acting was ok. The background and sets/clothing was great. Henry was ok. But for the love of god stop talking to the camera or the audience it has no place in a film it was disturbing enough in Miranda.

Really it's a film for 11/12 year olds as an adult I found totally incomparable to the Cumberbatch show or the RDJ movies it all too nice.

One of the very best ever made
12 September 2020
Forget the storyline. Everything else is about as real as it could visualise in a film. The words of my Grandad who served on HMS Ark Royal survived it's sinking and then joined the D Day landings.

A much bettwr movie with decent fx and choreography. Granted the story is cheesy and this is no Enter the Dragon but, not as bad as has been made out. If you are a fannof the game you should share some appreciation to this.

Everything I could have asked as huge fan
9 August 2020
It's August 9th 2020. I am watching this again for the 100th time. Never thought about reviewing it until now. As a massive fan in the 80s I was obsessed with the Comics (have them all) the toys and the tv cartoon. When I learned this was being made I had zero expectations except the trailers making it look something special. It really did not disappoint. The CGIof the robots is brilliant. The story is something that falls in line with the source material which okay isn't the most amazing of stories however it's a modern twist with elements of subtle comedy a real babe in Megan and a badass Megatron. I know people were upset with the decision to scrap Megatron turning into a gun but how would it have worked? This is by far the best of all the movies made so far. If you are a real fan you'll appreciate the efforts made I know I am.

Why is Zoe apologising now?
6 August 2020
It's completely poiness to do so. She already received the money for making the film. Perhaps if she feels that guilty about it she should give all the money she earned from it away.

I can't rate this either way not terrible not amazing.

16 July 2020
I am not saying anything about season 1. It's great and if you liked the movie you'll like that. Season 2. Full of inconsistency and a terrible plot/script full of irrational behaviour which will annoy the audience. It's left me so frustrated and wound up. Please don't do a season 3 and let this absolute mess end.

Manged it to the end just.
14 July 2020
The writing for this is terrible, if you are over 30, the story predictable and a distinct lack of action. Visually though it looks good and the music used is interesting. I think this is aimed at 12-17 year olds who will have an interest in teen angst TV shows so it'll get higher ratings from them. For an adult of 40 this is not something I can recommend. There are much better shows on Netflix like The Umbrella Acadamy or aptly named Teen Titans which I was able to get into pretty quickly. I have not read the comics so I don't know what they are like and how they compare.

Warning: Spoilers
All I have to say is how can the director, producers do that. It stinks utterly utterly stinks. To top it off paying for season 3 on Amazon with Sean Scott Williams who is garbage in everything he's been in. It's a disgrace. When you have actors that are difficult but that good and that amazing chemistry you have to find a way to make it work. Clayne you been hard done by man.

Below average and unbelievable
29 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how Hayden Christianson still looks like he did out of Star Wars it makes his character totally unbelievable because his wife has to be like 15 years older with dentures. Also quite astonishing is how an a kid about 10 holds a rifle perfectly first time and isn't frightened of the noise of a round going off. Also quite unbelievable is that surely the first thing you tell someone about a weapon is to not point it at anyone. There is a trend here because that half dodge pick up and a jeep is no match for a Range Rover. Speaking of that who other than PDiddle would buy a white one, so perhaps not the most inconspicuous. I could go on and on and on! Overall I wouldn't bother with this.
