Actually, Rev. Alden wants to marry, the Widow Craig, not Mrs. Foster, so the other poster is incorrect. But, Harriet tries to stop them by getting rev Alden fired basically. However at the end, they do end up getting married.
Most people find this weird, considering she barely is ever talked about again in any other episode, and is not seen again. She is mentioned in "the faith healer". and also, in the episode where the woman that comes in to have the men sign the petition(to have equal rights), when Laura is already married to Almonzo, it is implied at the end of the episode that rev. Alden has no where to go to get food when the women are revolting and taking over Nellie's restaurant. to me, this implies that, his wife, has joined the other woman and he cannot get any food. however, this is my opinion only.
