Was actually frustrating to watch
7 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This was a weak drawn out attack on a guy who was very obviously yea a jerk; and who didn't treat people right all the time; however people allowed themselves to be "controlled" by him ultimately for money or to not loose their jobs. They all had a choice. The way they banged on about Dan Schneider getting daily massages was just ridiculous, at any time any one of those people could have said no. And if they decided their jobs were more important then their self worth then that's on them. These failed child actors from the 80's talking about their insecurities at not being able to maintain fame are insecurities I'm sure we have all felt at one time or another, and are not specifically a trauma from being child actors

What this documentary highlighted was that kids ultimately were not protected by their parents. The few parents who did have concerns and spoke up seemed very easily placated by the responses they received. At any time they could have removed their children from that environment if they had wanted to.

This doco grasped at straws, drake bells mum allowing him to be alone with the pedophile after the dad specifically said not to, for drakes safety, there is so much responsibility on her for that as well. Who lets their kids sleep at another adults house because they "didn't like driving"

Nikelodean did the right thing by sacking Dan eventually. While things could have and should have been done differently; I think we can all acknowledge that the world has come a long way since the 80's and to make a 4 part series about the way a guy behaved in the 80's is as ridiculous as old playboy bunnies accusing Hugh Hefner of being a pervert.

I really wanted to like this
22 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited when I found this show. It seems to tick all the boxes; crime, small Town Main character overcoming a significant barrier, 2 whole seasons to enjoy: but I just couldn't get into it at all. I watched the first 5 episodes and couldn't put my finger on what was bothering me, and then I realised that not one character so far is likable, not one thing about one person makes them seem worthy of any sort of redemption. Maybe this show hits a bit too close to Home for me? Who knows I don't mind graphic tv at all, but when Renee and Ray sleep together it's so cringey I just want to skip past it.

And the main character Jackie, as a recovering alcoholic I find her arrogance just infuriating. Why does she think she's strong enough to Go into a pub after being sober for what? 2 weeks

Not my jam at all, I wanted it to be, but it's just not worth my time.

I had zero expectations
19 December 2023
I absolutely loved this! I had zero expectations and took my kids to see it because it's all that was showing at the movies; but I couldn't be more glad that we did see it. This movie takes you back to a different time, and is such an escape like all movies should be. It was funny and playful and sentimental I found myself crying at certain parts. Timothy chalomet was perfect casting, the story ran at a good pace (I didn't know what the storyline was going into it) it was magical and engaging and so great for adults and kids. Hugh Grant, in his very short screen time, was brilliant and brought another element to the movie. Would definitely see this again. I loved how all the kids starting singing along to the Oompa Loompa song, it was just great.

Up to episode 3
5 December 2023
I never had high hopes for this, and I'd say it's right on par with what I was expecting. Weak story, weak script, weak directing. I don't say weak acting because anyone's who watched outlander knows what a tremendous talent Sam Heughan is, he has been consistently wonderful for the entirety of outlander.his performance is a reflection of his surroundings. Also really throwing me watching him without a thick Scottish accent

This is a nice way to pass the time and is an easy watch. It's clearly building to something big, but it likely won't be.

The highlight of this is honestly just watching Sam, he's absolutely gorgeous.

A poor man's yellowstone
16 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Couldn't even make it through episode 1. Where do we start?

The timeline: beginning of the episode Joe has a fight with a hunter (talk about overacting!) that day finds out wife is pregnant. Wife is devastated. She's an intelligent educated woman, surely she knows there are options available right In the same episode, we then see the wife quite heavily pregnant, however the timeline with the hunter doesn't seem to have progressed as it's in the paper so assumingely a recent even. How does this work?

We then meet the hunters wife, who is as atypical white trash as they come. Pregnant, unlit cigarette always hanging from her mouth, disheveled and clearly an inattentive mum; of course living in a trailer

Also, why do the kids we assume are 9/10 years old go to bed when it's clearly mid afternoon?

The wife's mum is horrendous and the actress also can't act

The visual effects are pretty bad too, very clear when there's a green screen in use

Acting is bad, writing is bad, script is bad. Just no redeeming characters at all.

At a time when the western genre is making a comeback, this is a weak attempt

I don't understand the good reviews for this at all.

Warning: Spoilers
I haven't seen the movie so I have nothing to compare it to. Not loving it but I'm not hating it either.

My biggest issue is Joshua Jackson's hair - what the hell is going on! He's meant to be this attractive powerful man and that mop on his head is so distracting. And somehow it gets even worse when they move to current day

I'm still early in but I hope it explores why the affair started, his life seems pretty perfect

It's a decent way to pass the time, it seems Joshua jackson does start to pick some better roles though, dr death was good but not great. He's got the potential to do so much more.

I'm sure it's great but.....
20 March 2023
My reintroduction to this genre started with Yellowstone, 1883 and 1923. If you haven't watched them then I assume that this would seem great. As an avid Yellowstone fan, shows like this show just how much effort and attention to detail has been put into the Yellowstone franchise.

While this series attempts to look authentic, it looks absolutely Hollywood compared to the Yellowstone franchise

Loved seeing Brandon sklenar briefly, if you're comparing him alone and how he's presented you can see the difference there

Slow start, it my cup of tea. I'm literally adding words so my review can be added.

Superb
14 December 2022
I'm 5 episodes in and loving it! Tim McGraw and faith hill surprised me, pleasantly surprised me. I am a massive Yellowstone fan however was apprehensive to watch this due to the 2 of them alone. Boy was I wrong! Scenery is stunning and I can't turn it off, great writing. I'm so excited to see how it finishes up. If I do have one complaint, it's just that most of the cast have such perfect teeth lol! Everything else is completely believable however then someone smiles and you remember that they're actors on location

If you had any reservations about watching this, disregard them and give this a go. Can't wait for 1923 in a few weeks.

Loved the books
30 September 2022
Just finished episode 6 and I'll keep watching it til the end. I just honestly can't get over rose and her mums accent; why add an Aussie and kiwi accent? It's so distracting. Rose has been miscast, her Turkish roots play a role in the story. And I'm sorry but she's quite a weak actress. I feel like I'm casting they've gone down a run sheet and ticked a whole heap of boxes. The thing is, this story and the nationality of key characters are part of the story Unfortunately the costumes are worse then the casting....like where do you even start. A complete disaster Don't compare it to the books and it's ok.

The bad reviews are not wrong
25 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Acting: terrible Writing: terrible Plot: terrible

There was not one performance in this series worth noting because it was all so mediocre.

This really had potential and I won't go over all the flaws because there are so many reviews detailing it.

The best part was when, at the end, Mae manipulated Suzie to go and save her; and Mae's mum then just decides to substitute herself as the sacrifice. Like, if that option was on the table why would you not offer yourself up first?

The real evil in this series was Suzie herself. Terrible mother, chose a stranger over her 2 biological and 1 adoptive daughters. Compares momentarily living with an abusive step dad to Mae being raised and living in a satanic cult, and having a pentagon carved into her back. A little burn on your arm doesn't compare.

Do better Netflix.

Warning: Spoilers
Maggie: a doctor, and educated woman. Tries ivf once and shouts from the rooftop she thinks she's pregnant and then is devastated when she thinks she isn't and proclaimed maybe they weren't meant to be parents? Seriously, there's way too much unnecessary drama. End it now And Rome's depression has just mysteriously taken a backseat, when it was forefront for how many episodes. Do they also know that depression doesn't go away? That it's managed and treated. And don't even get me started on Katherine. Why can't she just tell the truth.

Sophie needs to go
21 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
And that's just the tip of the iceberg! Rome and Regina are the most precious delicate flowers, who clearly need therapy to help with their trauma; every little thing brings tears to their eyes. And Sophie really does need to go, she tells her mum to go to France and then uses it as ammunition to be mad everytime she doesn't get her own way 😳 she's such a brat And Maggie is quite possibly the most dramatic character to ever be on TV. Crying and going on a road trip to see an ex patients mum, because she thinks she need help is just silly, and the fact that she could fix this whole stalker issue with a 5 minute monologue that she was able to do at the drop of a hat....please 🙄

So slow
22 April 2022
The acting isn't terrible, but the pace is so so slow it's hard to stay interested. The flashbacks and time frames are really confusing. And the actor who played Conrad I couldn't get on board with. Had they condensed the series I may have had more tolerance for it but I'm going to struggle to get to the end.

Man oh man the acting, it's so bad! The main character has been cast incorrectly, and the actress who plays the asic agent. What were they thinking I'm sorry but she's a terrible actress. I feel like I'm watching a high school Drama class production.

It started so well
29 September 2021
The first 2 and a half episodes were great. And then not a single laugh and we just finished episode 5. Frankie is a narcissist, sexist, verbally and emotionally abusive guy and is definitely not the type we should be encouraging or laughing at. Such a shame because this started soooo well!!

This is not on the same level as power
1 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I felt like I was watching a teen drama. Acting and writing was pretty bad, I actually can't get over how bad the acting is; Mary j blige, I just don't get why. The dinner sequence at laurens place made no sense to me at all. Why was Tariq there, why was he getting grilled by strangers, why were the 2 teachers arguing?

In no way can this compare to power, down to the fact that there aren't really any likeable characters. I'll be surprised if I get to the end of this, might go straight to the kenan series.

So many issues with this show
12 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As every other review, good and bad, have stated, the kid Adam would have to be one of the most idiotic characters I can remember in recent history. Mistake after mistake after mistake. He should've just worn a neon sign around his neck that said "I did it" absolutely no reason for him to go back to the crime scene, for him to take photos of it (!!!) for him to pursue and start dating the dead kids sister, and for him to be in court, for a closed case that had absolutely nothing to do with him. Oh yeah, and then at the end, ignore his dads phone calls and turns his phone off when going to the dead kids house. The kid was an ass hole

Why was it even brought up that the dead mum had an affair? Like seriously, how does that add to the story in any way?

The crime family? So cliche looking it's ridiculous, why was the Scottish dad so Italian and looking and sounding? So stupid

Hmm what else...at the end, when the judges girlfriend found out the truth, so so obvious she doesn't have kids, because as dumb as this show is. Most parents would do what the judge did to protect their kid

Everyone told me to wait to the end, and I won't see it coming. I didn't see it coming because it was so ridiculous. It wasn't poetic justice that the kid involved in a hit and run who left a kid bleeding to die, bled out after accidentally being shot.

Judge actually killed a witness in court by drugging him, did they not do an autopsy on him which would show that he was murdered? Junkie or not that was way too far fetched

And if we learn anything from this show, it's that the gangsters always win!

Acting was very over he top too

So so many things wrong with this show, had potential to be great. And all the things left unanswered are just annoying: Does the judges best friend become mayor?

Does the cop who worked it out say anything?

Does the judges ex gf say anything?

Does the stupid kid having an affair with his teacher who he told about the murder, say anything?

Why, in a room full of criminals, is a kid able to pull out a gun shoot a guy drop the gun and run without getting caught?

What happens to the kid?

Absolute rubbish give this a miss.

Embarrassing
22 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The costumes are absolutely terrible, the plot is repetitive. This has absolutely nothing on the originals. It's like the writers thought it was a joke. The last episode of season 3, the alternate reality set in a fairytale land, no consistency at all from TVD and TO. I understand that TVD was set for teenager, TO for adults who grew up watching TVD, but where does this fit in. Not great
