F9 (2021)
This Director (Justin Lin) Hates You.
He had resources, access to great actors and a storyline. He threw it all away to intentionally insult the audience by relying on their loyalty to this franchise. He is a disgrace and this movie is unwatchable. I, personally, will never get within 100 yards of any production with his name attached in the future and neither should you.
Gilmore Girls: Just Like Gwen and Gavin (2006)
Officially "Jumped the Shark" with this episode.
It's widely-accepted Gilmore Girls legend that the introduction of April is also the beginning of the end for this show.
This episode is particularly disappointing because everyone acts completely out of character. Luke lies and dilly-dallies, then hurts Lorelei while seemingly oblivious to it all. He completely looses his integrity, a stand-out feature of the character of Luke.
Lorelei is submissive and non-confrontational in a way we've never seen her before. Her character arc has always been to stand her ground, even against the smallest of infractions i.e., Emily and Richard.
An heretofore unmentioned uncle to Lane is introduced and promptly never mentioned again; all to act as backdrop to Zach's finally declaring his intentions.
There could have been about a hundred ways to write this more elegantly but at this point the writers just are throwing preposterous situations at the audience to advance untenable storylines.
And it starts at the top of the show with the ridiculous notion that the (broken, remember?) church bells wake everyone in the middle of the night for a town meeting with Taylor.
A Taylor speaking from Maine, yet his nephew is still up at this hour?!?
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. I wonder how the actors managed to do this with straight faces.
Gilmore Girls: Fight Face (2005)
Just a little info/trivia
The song playing on the car radio while Lorelei is driving is "Saddest Quo" by Pernice Brothers.
A lot of people hate on this season, but I think it fits. Rory was blind-sided by both her love for Logan and the calculated bashing by his father. She was overdue for some emotional drama at her age.
Easy Rider (1969)
Jack Nicholson's Freedom Speech
Billy: Hey, man. All we represent to them, man, is somebody who needs a haircut.
George Hanson: Oh, no. What you represent to them is freedom.
Billy: What the hell is wrong with freedom? That's what it's all about.
George Hanson: Oh, yeah, that's right. That's what's it's all about, all right. But talkin' about it and bein' it, that's two different things. I mean, it's real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace. Of course, don't ever tell anybody that they're not free, 'cause then they're gonna get real busy killin' and maimin' to prove to you that they are. Oh, yeah, they're gonna talk to you, and talk to you, and talk to you about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em.
Billy: Well, it don't make 'em runnin' scared.
George Hanson: No, it makes 'em dangerous.
Paper Heart (2009)
Seriously the worst movie I have ever seen.
Dismal. I feel sorry for the real people that the "actress" pretended to care about. I truly hope she seeks a competent therapist because the camera sees deep. It's so bad that I feel she may have been exploited.
Sad as that is, I'm here to tell you not to waste your time watching this movie. The relationship between her and Michael Cera is scripted (you can look that up).
I really wish I had that 90 minutes of my life back.
Starsky and Hutch: Long Walk Down a Short Dirt Road (1977)
Poncho or Serape?
This is really the high-water mark of fashion for David Soul. In the opening scene, he is wearing a poncho or a serape over a jacket. That's a bold statement.
There also appears to be a satin and feathers halter top on Lynn Anderson in a later scene.
Fun with Fashion. I miss the 1970's.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: One World, One People (2021)
I'd like to offer an alternative ending...
In actuality, Bucky wouldn't have been allowed to end his own, pardon-conditioned therapy. And I think the ending did a disservice to men and women who suffer from PTSD.
In my version, Buck would have moved into one of the newer veterans communities comprised of tiny houses. There, he could participate with others while still maintaining his independence and working through his issues with others that have "similar"!experiences. I mean, there aren't a lot of super-soldiers around; but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have things in common with other veterans.
In addition, Bucky could make amends to individuals and families that had been affected by his actions as the Winter Soldier. This could even be a Season Two story arc wherein Bucky would be able to help out people who couldn't help themselves, putting his powers to good use.
So...hit me up, Marvel, if you want me to flesh this all out for you. 😊
Gilmore Girls: They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They? (2002)
Loads of Fun!
The best "Gilmore Girls" episodes are always the ones featuring Stars Hollow celebrations. This time it's the town Dance-A-Thon. The set decor and costumes are particularly well-done. All the town characters and their idiosyncratic quirks are well-framed. Loads of fun with some nice twists and turns (pun intended).
Gilmore Girls: The Bracebridge Dinner (2001)
Classic Stars Hollow
This episode is the quintessential Stars Hollow experience at it's quirkiest finest. All the townspeople get to play a part in the Bracebridge dinner and it is delightful. This is the town you've always wanted to live in.
