Goodnight, Sugar Babe: The Killing of Vera Jo Reigle (2013)
Disturbing on so many levels...
These people are just absolute garbage human beings. I don't think a single person in that family has any redeeming qualities. I am not normally a judgmental person, but oh my god...this entire bloodline needs to be put out of it's misery. The Brooks family make regular white trash look like the Kennedy's. I feel so sad for the poor girl who got caught up in this mess and lost her life, although seeing her background, it's unlikely she had a chance in life anyway. The problem with this show is that Vera seems to play a minor role in the story of her own murder. A lot more focus is put on these "hills have eyes" rejects that barely pass for humans. It so heartbreaking that children are even allowed around a single member of this psychotic, despicable family. If ever there was a case for forced sterilization, this is it! These people continuing to breed is more terrifying than any potential terrorist attack.
Evil (2019)
Really liking it so far
So far this has been a really good show. The characters are enjoyable, and unlike a lot of other reviewers, I think the little girls are cute! They bring a happy, lively vibe to the house and just make me smile even if they are a bit loud and boisterous. The other characters are really likeable to me, I particularly like Ben. The I like the idea that the strange incidents have been explained scientifically, yet there is the idea that there may actually be something supernatural happening underneath it all. Unfortunately I see that a lot of conservatives have gotten their panties in a twist because the show dared to have a plot point that involved racial issues (which sorry to say, is a reality whether you want to admit it or not) Apparently if you don't like one episodes plot point, the show itself should just die. Grow up. Don't watch that episode if it triggers you so much. What people really should have been upset about is the ridiculous way an autopsy was portrayed...that was sloppy writing. But it was one episode, a very early one at that and I think it can be overlooked. The show is solid. It's interesting. It's fun, and it has great potential. But it will probably be cancelled after season two because it doesn't involve competing for a singing contract or a rose from some creep.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Fun movie
This was an entertaining, fun movie. Well acted, kinda scary...overall a good watch. I don't think any of these sequels have come close to the original Conjuring or Conjuring 2, but this one was good. The best in the Annabelle set anyway. One I will probably buy and pop in at Halloween every year. Not Oscar worthy or anything, but it gives you a few jumps, and the characters are enjoyable.
Pet Sematary (2019)
Just awful...
This movie was just plain awful. I had high hopes, I absolutely adore John Lithgow and have loved him in everything I've seen him in, but even he couldn't save this train wreck. As cheesy as the original wise, I actually liked it and bawled when Gage died. However, the characters in this version were so wooden and impossible to care about, the scene where Ellie was hit didn't even phase me at all. There is just nothing redeeming about it really. I shouldn't have reread the book before watching, that definitely didn't help matters as it's impossible not to compare the two. This remake was just boring. Not scary, not suspenseful, not moving...just blah. I'm so glad I didn't see this in the theater, the 3 bucks it cost me from Redbox is bad enough.
