Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
Action Film Director Can't Direct Action
Pierce Brosnan made a promising debut as Bond in Goldeneye, and he isn't too bad in this one either. But the choice of director is a great miss.
Once you get into the film you notice that Roger Spottiswood cannot create exiting action sequences. Why is the "action" shot from below and edited into music video speed? Why all the close-ups in the fights? One does not get a clear picture of what's going on. In the car chase in the garage for example, I can't appreciate what is going on because I don't have a decent conception of where the car is driving and where the villains are. Inept editing and filming!
Why did they hire someone who doesn't understand the basic principles of film making to direct a Bond movie? And this guy still gets work in Hollywood... This is a mystery.
Tomorrow Never Dies is the only Bond movie that sucks, and it stains the splendor of a great classic series. Don't see it, please don't.
Team Knight Rider (1997)
Worthless
This is the most worthless piece of "entertainment" I've ever seen. The horribly poor editing makes it impossible for one to understand what is happening or who is talking (Who said that? Was it a car or the villain?). The action sequences are lame, and the names of the cars are easily forgotten, as are the faces of the actors.
But the worst thing is probably that the heroes often mention "Michael Knight" as someone they look up to, and who fought for justice and so on. Hey, he was a tall guy in a cool black car, Team Knight Rider are just a pack of losers in weird, terribly coloured machines.
Not comparing to the original series, this is still as bad as they come.
Hot Moves (1984)
They don't make these anymore.
A feel-good 1980s teen lust comedy, with the right music, cute girls and the usual gang of idiots trying to get laid. It is very tasteless but enjoyable; I can't understand why they don't make these anymore. I've watched it a dozen times, yet it still gives me the same feeling of innocent fun. For friends of politically incorrect sex comedies, Hot Moves is highly recommended.
