Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Furiosa BETTER than Fury Road
Fury Road is great but Furiosa (in my opinion) was just a little bit better. This movie was well written and well directed. The story is superb and the pace is "on point". From the very beginning until the very end - this movie was freaking awesome. There were some slow parts for certain specific reasons and some fast parts for some hard core insane action scenes. Nothing looked stupid or "over the top". I never rate movies a 10 but this movie was a 9.5. Every single actor/actress played their part to perfection. This movie was a treat and well worth the extra money I spent for the "big screen" showing and D-Box seats. This is how a movie should be made. A+++++
Arkansas (2020)
Liam is NOT a tough guy
Liam is boring and tries to act like a tough guy but that is just not him. They picked the wrong guy to be a drug runner. Liam is supposed to be tough and in control but his true personality is NOT that at all - so because of that - this movie is weak and unrealistic. All is all the writing is poor, the acting is just decent(so the directing is poor). This is also not a good movie for Vince Vaughn. Vince plays a decent role but this is not his "cup of tea". There's just not a lot of substance in this movie. Liam is a kindergarten teacher trying to act like a criminal - very laughable and stupid. Boring.
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain (2023)
"The Breakfast Club"ish
Brilliant movie!!! I compared this movie to The Breakfast Club because of multiple reasons. The writing is brilliant, the acting (from everyone) is awesome and all of the music is well done. You have to be smart and normal to truly appreciate a movie like this. This movie just follows (3) totally normal guys who have a super solid friendship bond - just living daily life. Anyone in the entire world can identify with one of these guys(or with any other character in the movie). This movie is just brilliant. These guys though of EVERYTHING!!! This movie if funny, entertaining, fun and uplifting. This movie is NOT like all of The Fast and the Furious movies(which are totally far-fetched and unrealistic). This movie is very realistic. Just like The Breakfast Club - everyone in this movie is: different, normal, unique and awesome. A++++
No Hard Feelings (2023)
Jennifer is the star...
Overall: the movie is very funny and solid, the kid Percy is a weirdo and make the movie worse(the main kids from Weird Science are perfect and "spot on" but Percy is more on the side of stupid/weird and it doesn't even look like he's even attracted to girls/women - which is super weird as his parents already said that he is into porn and some hard-core porn - bottom line: this kid Percy brings down the perfection of this movie) BUT Jennifer is an amazing comedic rock star and makes this movie a hit. Jennifer plays her character to perfection. She's witty, tough(in a cool way), sexy and super funny. This is her "sweet-spot" - she needs to do more comedy movies that bring out this awesome side of her personality. A+++++
The Tutor (2023)
bad writing - no substance
Not all writers are created equal. Ryan King should quit being a writer and choose a new profession.
This movie was good for about 6 minutes and then it all went to crap. Nothing was believable. You supposedly have a very smart tutor - yet this guy has no vision, he is naive, he is a hypocrite and is dumber than dumb. But I don't blame the actor - I blame the writer. This writer does not have any type of writing skills. Things were just thrown together without any kind of substance or intelligence. I'm a movie lover. I watch all kinds of movies and whether a movie has a big budget or a tiny budget - a good movie is simply a good movie - it all depends mostly on the writing and then the acting. This movie was as bad as they get. I just feel bad for the director, the actors and people who invested in this weak writer Ryan King.
Wicked Games (2021)
motion sickness warning
I was really looking forward to this movie and then the lousy camera work started. If you are the type of person that gets motion sickness easily - then this movie is NOT for you. The movie starts off with a deputy struggling to survive after being attacked. But I wasn't able to fully understand what all was going on as the camera keep moving around wildly - so it was very difficult to focus on the characters and the things around the deputy as I was already starting to get sick due to the constant motion of the camera. I then forwarded the movie for about 10 minutes but the bad camera work was still non-stop. I kept on forwarding the movie by 10 minutes but it didn't help - there was still constant motion of the camera that would make most people sick. F grade.
Prey (2022)
a prequel at its best
This is a well written intelligent movie. The story is interesting with great character build up. In order to fully understand the movie - you need to think. This makes the movie simple, yet superb. Every aspect of this movie has meaning, purpose and intelligence. This is either the best or the 2nd best movie in the Predator franchise. A++++ in my opinion.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Napolean egotistical complex bore
This movie should have been called "I'm Tom Cruise - there isn't any room in this movie to shine but me!!!". 90% of the movie had Cruise in it, 90% of the movie was sooo predictable(parts where Cruise was made to look like a hero and was made to look cool/hip. Parts where Cruise seemingly was seemingly portrayed to be at a loss but it was just a ploy to make him shine). Tom still believes he's 28 years old. The other pilots looked like young guns and were cool and funny but they were NOT the focal point of this movie - it was ALL about Tom Cruise. The female pilot was awesome, Bob was cool, Hangman was egotistical but in a badass way and Rooster was awesome BUT they all had to take a back seat to allow Tom Cruise to steal the show with his "shoe lifts", his "presence" and his "old face". I thought Tom was going to be the badass captain and instructor - leading young men and women to be the "elite of the elite" but instead it was just about Tom wanting to be the spotlight at all times. There is NO WAY that this was better than the original Top Gun. Tom, you are 60 years old - you are NOT a young gun anymore. Let it go!!!! Act like a mentor, a leader or a badass father figure. Right now, you look stupid and its a total bore. Congrats on being able to do your own stunts but you are still NOT a young gun - it's time to just "pass the torch".
Rosewood Lane (2011)
trash in every way
Tons of plastic surgery, horrible writing, horrible acting and the plot is stupid. McGowan is much more suited for a hooker role than a psychiatrist role. This whole movie is incredibly stupid. Average high school students can come up with a better movie than this trash.
Army of the Dead (2021)
2.5hrs and still lacking...
Snyder is supposedly a major director and writer but this is not one of his better projects. The movie has a solid theme, solid idea, solid characters(actors) but the writing and directing were decent (at best). Seriously, there aren't many characters in this movie but Snyder fails(miserably - given a ton of time) at developing the characters. Throughout the movie, Snyder's writing fails to bring life to the characters. Bottom line, there just isn't any intelligent writing and for that reason - this movie is "all bark and no bite".
B Positive (2020)
lame and boring
The writing is weak and lame. Totally boring. This kind of writing is only funny if your intelligence level is pretty low and you laugh at things that are extremely obvious and stupid - like a clown show.
Let Him Go (2020)
bad writing and bad directing
I'll make this short and to the point. This movie sucked. So many things were weird and stupid. The writing was definitely from a beginner with no imagination. Kevin Costner(who is the best actor in this movie) had very few lines as if he had an issue with talking. They made Diane Lane out to be some sort of 70 year old sex symbol - totally weird and completely unrealistic. Diane's acting was bad. The story is about taking back a grandson that is possibly abused by his step-father. Costner and Lane go on a road trip and literally show up with a chip on their shoulder and make a bad situation so much worse. The entire story is unrealistic and stupid. This movie is close to 2 hours long - yet there is no substance due to crappy writing. Bottom line - stupid movie.
Acrimony (2018)
terrible & unintelligent writing
Tyler Perry just isn't a good writer, director or producer - seriously. There are many inconsistencies. Although this movie is somewhat realistic, this movie is more fiction than anything else. The story is stupid. They should have named the title "Dumb Ass Bi*$&". Acrimony is only one trait of her personality but realistically the movie shows her to be stupid, super stupid, unbelievably stupid, stupid as crap, beyond stupid, dumb ass b*^%ch, and then crazy - all throughout the movie. Horrible unintelligent writing - the movie starts off with the crazy dummy talking to a psychiatrist about her story (from the beginning of her crazy life) and what would literally takes hours, days and even weeks of telling this story - somehow it takes place within an hour(possibly 2 hours) of being in her psychiatrist's office - that's insane and stupid - What was Tyler Perry thinking? ans: he wasn't and if he was then he's just an unintelligent writer. The writing for Friday the 13th was much better.
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Jesse's narrating sucked
This movie was not any good. The writing was decent - but in my opinion is was bad. Woody, Emma and Zoey were great and did they best they could considering the writing and directing. Jesse was a complete bore. His narrating sucked, his constant talking (not the narrating) was stupid. They made him to be this sex symbol and made him more of a wanted man than Woody - and that's just insane and ridiculous. Jesse actually made the movie much worse than what it already is. Kudos to Woody, Emma and Zoey as they actually made the movie funny and enjoyable. I will never watch this movie again, nor will I buy it. Not a horrible movie, but Jesse just made it too annoying.
The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018)
Crap from beginning to the end
Terrible writing, terrible story, terrible acting, unrealistic and an extremely weak sequel. This went from an amazing movie with Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig to a very bad fantasy/science fiction disgrace of a movie with Claire Foy. Claire Foy does not even come close to following in the footsteps of Rooney Mara. Everything about Claire Foy is inconsistent, unbelievable and weird (in a crappy way). Huge mistake from Sony. Whomever was in charge of this nightmare should be fired and then hired back to mopping floors. No wonder this was a HUGE failure at the box office and on dvd sales.
The Conners (2018)
The Conners missing something major - Roseanne!!!
The Conners was very bland and boring. It was definitely not the same without Roseanne. The show was not funny or clever. I understand that this show was mosty about the death of Roseanne but the writing was weak. Nothing "clicked". I found myself trying very hard to NOT turn the channel but I wanted to see the entire show so that I can be fair and thorough. This was exactly like Two & A Half Men - minus Charlie Sheen - in which the show sucked with Walden. It's like watching Home Improvement without Tim Allen. Bottom line - this show will NOT be any good without Roseanne. Roseanne was the nucleus that made everything work perfectly. I'm out!!!
Hotel Artemis (2018)
Bad writing, Bad directing
Nothing is believable in this movie. It supposed to be about a hotel(safe haven for criminals needing medical attention) yet no one respects the hotel or its rules - not even the person in charge of the hotel. The story is stupid, the fighting is stupid, the writing is stupid - it's just a stupid movie. Great actors that got put into a stupid movie.
Roseanne (1988)
solid show, solid writing = very funny
I never really watched the show before but I'm so glad that I gave this new reboot season "a shot". The show is very funny and entertaining. I love how they tackle touchy issues with intelligent unbiased writing - that way everyone can enjoy the show and not feel left out. I pretty much know what they are trying to push threw the show and I love it and am 100% behind them. Everyone on the show is top notch. Kudos to all of them. Excellent show - give it a shot and then maybe you can get hooked on it too - like me.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)
There's always Beavis & Butthead or the Three Stooges
For those critics that are speaking negatively about this film - there are other films out there that fit your level like Beavis & Butthead and the Three Stooges - however, those shows are still very funny but with a lot less thinking.
Seriously though, I went into this film with a negative attitude and wanted to watch it - just so that I can say "yeah, I watched it". But then brilliance struck!!! I was totally captivated by this brilliant film. It was definitely: smart, thought provoking, funny, well written, well written, sad,funny...it was just everything. I was hooked from the very 1st minute until the very end. I'm hoping and praying that there will be a sequel. The acting was "off the charts" from everyone.
This was a massive film!!! I truly feel sorry for those that didn't get it or couldn't appreciate this massive masterpiece of a film.
This movie did have some controversial subjects and words but it was done with sheer brilliance. I rented this movie but then after watching it - I bought it, with pride.
Sam Rockwell's character was my favorite. And it's not by accident that Sam won the Oscar for BEST Supporting Actor. He was awesome.
Lastly, this film was awesome and if someone is wanting to watch something that is very fulfilling - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is the one to watch. I respect all of the "haters'" opinions but seriously - how on earth did you'll not get it???
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
a solid building block for the 4th installment
Please Read This Review!!! I've decided to write this review because there is just way too much negative feedback for this movie that's not even close to being justified.
This 3rd installment, in my opinion, is very well made. This movie actually answers a lot of questions and the bottom line is "if you didn't like it - it's probably because you just didn't get it" - period!!! This movie will make you think (a little) and nowadays people don't want to think at all. People nowadays want to be entertained without having to think or appreciate anything - and that's just nuts.
From the very beginning, the movie starts building the blocks as to: what the creeper is, how the creeper thinks, how the creeper works, how the creeper gets around and many other things. The acting is pretty good and there are no "usual basic type of heroes".
The movie has a very realistic story. If you are what the creeper wants - then you are what the creeper gets - that's it(very real). There is very good character development and there are very solid pieces of information thrown throughout the entire movie done in a very strategic way. I honestly didn't want to leave to go to the restroom as I knew that I would miss something very good and important - and I was right.
Bottom line when it comes to the types of watchers of this movie. 1)If you like and appreciate a nicely written horror movie with good acting and a solid story - then this is a great movie. 2)If you are always trying to look for every tiny "flaw" in a magician's show or are always looking to laugh so hard that you fall out of your seat at a comedian's show without having to do any kind of thinking - then this movie will not make you happy because you can't appreciate the hard work and thought process that goes into things(ART).
To understand "ART" you have to be "SMART". This movie is "ART". It may have a somewhat low budget, It may have unknown actors and It may not have non-stop CGI up the wazoo BUT this movie is "ART". I loved it and I can't wait for the bluray/DVD release and the 4th installment.
Redd Inc. (2012)
enjoy the ride
I'm not a huge fan of horror movies but I decided to watch this one because it just sounded intriguing. So I watched it and I'm glad that I did. This movie is just as described - horror, thriller & comedy(although the comedy is very slight and more "clever" than "ha-ha"). I personally liked it because it was clever, UNIQUE and well-written which is not common in horror movies. This movie has it all for a seemingly low budget movie. The acting is good, the script is good, there's just the right amount of gore, it's believable and it's NOT STUPID. Finally, it's not perfect but it's a lot better than most horror movies out there. Give it a try and if you don't like it then maybe cartoons(films where you don't have to think) are more suited for you.
Failure to Launch (2006)
clever, funny and very entertaining
I initially didn't want to see this with my wife since it was a chick flick but now I am glad that I did. The movie was cleverly written and made. There's more than just the main plot and that's what makes this film entertaining. Terry Bradshaw is an awesome and arrogant football analyst but it this film he truly acts like a normal dad which also makes this film more believable and fun. All the characters in the movie were very believable with just the right amount of air time for each of them. This definitely was not just a chick flick. Guys can relate to the characters and laugh about it. This film has real life issues that are exploited in a clever and funny way. Hate to admit it but this film was good all around. Definitely a couple flick.
