Blacklight (2022)
as exciting as water soup
Pretty weak. 5 of 10, I can think of 5 taken jokes.
This movie is a milli-Taken.
I found myself Taken a nap.
The only thing remotely Taken was my 9 bucks.
I wish I'd have Taken a 5-hr energy.
All the scenes only needed 1 Take.
At least Cold Pursuit was funny.
On the plus side - the theater was warmer than my car outside.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Great revenge and suspense movie
It's a revenge against evil movie, and it's spot-on great. I can usually figure out a complex plot in the first few minutes, not this one. You could loosely call it Gone Girl 2, with a light-sabre caliber battle thrown in. The characters are really good at it. Thank goodness one of the 1/10 reviewers pointed out the premise is an unrealistic impossible fantasy. After tending to 2 guardianships and several court battles, my heart predictably sank in the first 10 minutes when they revealed the Bad Guy.
Barkskins (2020)
Nicely done!
I like these re-enactment series' like Jamestown. It brings new light to those boring old History books from school in the 1970's. Someone should snatch up the rights and bring the whole book into a series. I hear this was just a few chapters of a epic novel.
The Humanity Bureau (2017)
Wasn't so bad
I liked it. It had a plot, it had a story. Typical Nick, he was not bad, he's just unfortunate. It was spot on level with Code 46. Far better than Wrinkle in Time, or Interstellar which are at the bottom of my sci-fi barrel. Plenty of dry funny stuff. The eye. The Monet (his luck he would actually poke a hole in a real Monet painting).
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
A real stinker
This movie really sucked bad. I can't believe it's rated 4 points higher than Wrinkle either. In 2008 I was rooting for Liv Tyler to somehow survive the horror. But in this one, after 30 minutes of bad acting I was rooting for the Creeps to hurry up and finish off this family so I could leave. But no, they had to drag it out for another hour. What were they doing out there in the dark all that time anyway? At least we find out the family's last name. The Spineless family. And no middle class Cincinnati family would be driving a crappy 25 year old minivan like that.
Snatched (2017)
Very funny movie
I thought it was hilarious. I and the other 20 or so noon matinée crowd laughed all thru the movie. Couples and girl groups. I figured the turnout would be low due to Amy. I put that behind me, and I'm glad I did. I love all the toilet humor. There's some good quotable stuff in here. I laughed at some parts no one else did because I understand Spanish, and the subtitles aren't what the coyote men were saying. I liked the film better than a couple of the blockbusters that are currently out. But, that's how the WoW rolls.
Dark Harvest (2004)
This scarecrow should have gone to see the wizard first
Picked up this movie since it supposedly took place in my home state of West Virginia. I was pleasantly surprised when they show a map of the fictitious 'Carson County' and it's right beside my hometown! The background and the build-up was great, right up until the scarecrow popped up. It was all downhill from there. Very lame. You can hear crows in the background during the daytime, even they aren't scared. It was more humorous than scary. If you look at it as funny, then the movie is a winner.
