The X Factor (2004)
The boredom factor
Welcome to the world of karaoke, If you are a 14 years old female you will like and believe that what you see is entertaining, for the rest of us its the same old tripe that we have got used to for the last five years. No I don't watch it (it's just hard to avoid all the hype in the media).
In my opinion the voting can be rigged and then the shows screaming host pretends that the "public have .............(long pause)........decided" when the "winner" has already been chosen. But keep on voting as many times as you like (hummm isn't that illegal....vote rigging anyone) the production company really needs your votes err money.
Forgive me if I am wrong but I always assumed that judges have to be independent with no attachments to the contestants. Enough said.
Ghostwatch (1992)
scary even in B&W
I am surprised that so many people remember it.I remember watching this in black & white on a small portable at the time. I was 25 then and "round and round the mulberry bush" still makes my hair stand up on end (those of you that have seen it will remember). It's a shame that the beeb have not released it on video as I would love to have a copy.
The Waterboy (1998)
I liked it
This is a funny film... Adam Sandler is a very good actor and anything he does is well worth watching....ok so the acting wasn't that great but...who cares... films are made to be watched and not about real life, that's why we watch them and this is a film to be watched......I gave it 9 out of 10 need I say more?
The Signalman (1976)
A lonely place
Charles Dickens enjoyed train travel(he was himself involved in a train crash at Staplehurst.UK although not injured) and always wondered about what happens in those lonely signalboxes at night. As a Signalman myself I have worked in those lonely places and could understand how the signalman felt. It's a good portrayal of the short story that Dickens wrote and was worth watching.
American Pie (1999)
Still laughing
There hasn't been a comedy in the last 3 years that has made me laugh so much. This is one of the only films that I have wanted to watch again and again....I know its about teens(I am 32)but it reminds me so much of me growing up that its uncanny.A must see for all ages..
Pushing Tin (1999)
A very enjoyable movie
I liked this film because as a controller of trains at London Kings Cross station I can put myself in the characters shoes.Where I work is very stressful and every person does what they can to channel stress in only the way they can. The Air Traffic Controllers portrayed in the film and the way they speak about the Pilots are the same as WE talk about the train drivers. A wonderful blend of people being thrust together in the workplace who are so different results in total humor which is well worth watching. So if you haven't watched this movie, then watch it now because it was soooooooo funny......
The Usual Suspects (1995)
A gripping movie....then the ending....wow
This was a gripping movie...I have never been glued to the screen as I was when I saw this...I didn't see this movie until 2000 when I got it for £5 for my local video store...The best £5 I have ever spent...My girlfriend liked this movie although she fell asleep before the ending so she never worked it all out..lol
Hudson Hawk (1991)
A Great Movie
I love this movie for 3 things
1) Bruce Willis singing swinging on a star
2) I have watched it a dozen times and still not bored with it
3) It's one of the most unusual storylines I have ever watched
Thats why I have given it 9/10
