The Simpsons: Fan-ily Feud (2023)
Why?
This episode does an okay job of lambasting the rigid conformity that is one of Lisa's biggest flaws. But the cheap shot at the last line undercut all the authentic messaging. The irony of writers who don't know they are parodying themselves....it's painful to watch for them and hurtful to have a show that you once understood and understood you, turn into a deluded stranger. Whoever the writers are for this stretch of episodes needs to stop watching cable news and start writing for the human condition again. I didn't love the episode, but I hated the ending.... Airing your ignorance of institutions is not comedy.
The Simpsons: Write Off This Episode (2023)
Stunningly Bad and Out of Touch
Episode tries to explore the relationship between charities and corporations, but is so openly Marxist, it's unwatchable. The basic theme is the world would have no problems if corporations paid taxes to governments to solve problems instead of solving problems themselves. It is anti business, anti charity and anti religion. And that's not conjecture, the writers would not disagree with this characterization. My only question is- who is running this magically competent government that has forced investors and forced customers and no accountability? This misses the mark of fiction and lands on propaganda.
Spider-Woman (1979)
It's either a 10 or a 1
This is so bad it's fantastic. You thought feminist pandering was invented by snowflake millenials? Think AGAIN! This show INVENTED going "woke". The title character is bafflingly overpowered and flawless in every way. Her male co-worker is a one dimensional caricature of a sexist buffoon. Even the cameos of Spiderman portray him as a clueless idiot needing rescuing. We are thoroughly enjoying it on Disney+. For those of you who are adults, I recommend a drinking game- take a shot every time Jessica Drew (Spiderwoman) jumps out of a moving vehicle so she can change her clothes without her co-worker Jeff and her 12 year old nephew, er, I mean Billy, noticing.
