The Crown (2016)
Brilliant!
Overall, it's a tremendously well-written series with amazing period details, but it leans more towards drama than documentary or biographical work.
The series became a real masterpiece, irrespective of how much it was based on reality because many people forget that it's fiction. We can never know how a closed-door conversation between two people took place in reality.
The fact that season five and the first half of season six mostly focused on Diana didn't bother me as much as it did others. I also appreciated the part about the monarchy and world history, but I understand the high drama surrounding Diana's storyline. Let's face it, it was the same in real life-Diana's personality and missions pushed the royal family into the background. You could read and hear about the princess in every newspaper and TV show. This is exactly what happened in the mentioned seasons. Although Elizabeth Debicki was as magical as the Princess herself. Her beauty and acting were captivating.
Actually, the whole casting was brilliant, and many of them looked alike... well, Dominic West never managed to look like Prince Charles, but even with the portrayal, there was obviously no problem in his case. However, he could not surpass Josh O'Connor's acting.
Despite this, the show managed to frame the monarch's life in a very nice way, and as someone who didn't know much about the royal family, I really liked it!
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Nonsense and boring
I had this show on my watchlist for too long, and never actually wanted to watch that, however, I consider myself a big TWD fan, so after finishing the other TWD spin-offs, I have decided to start watching this one. As a lot of people say here, the first 3 seasons were so good! I have really enjoyed them and loved the concept that they focused on the beginning of the virus, and how people honestly acted in a panicked situation.
Sadly it quickly got worse, actually, as season 4 came out, it went down, became boring, meaningless and felt like a never-ending circle. I was happy that Morgan appeared in S4, but somehow I did not like the new characters... the camera girl was nonsense to me. The plot was hard to understand, they jumped too many times in the timeline. It was a bit confusing in the long run. They brought in a fearful Nick, who has been walking among the dead until now. As a drug addict in the past, he went through too many things, then they still made him a depressed kid out of nowhere.
I skipped season 5 and watched only a recap of that. Then started watching season 6 for a few episodes, but I've decided to watch the remaining recap until the end of the show. Well, I am truly glad that I did not continue watching, because FTWD is not more, than a waste of time. The characters died, then turned out that they were alive, and then they died again, however, that still made it... ridiculous.
To me, the show is irrationally illogical (not primarily the story, but the behaviour of the characters in given situations) and contradicts all common sense. There were many questionable scenes we didn't get answers for. I suffered all the way through from S4.
To sum up, I just don't understand how this show survived 8 seasons, while there are so many way better and exciting shows that got cancelled. I gave it 4 points, but would have given 7 for the first 3 seasons.
American Horror Story (2011)
Overall rating
I gave it 6 points, but let me write down the reason. First, I rated every season separately.
1. Murder House - 8 (for the first season it was quite interesting)
2. Asylum - 7 (many people skipped it, but I still liked it)
3. Coven - 10 (favourite)
4. Freak Show - 10 (2nd favourite)
5. Hotel - 4 (absolutely hated it, I just couldn't enjoy a minute)
6. Roanoke - 7 (it was good)
7. Cult - 6 (eh, not so bad, but kinda goofy)
8. Apocalypse - 7 (a lot of people love it, but it was a disappointment for me, still gave 7 because of the crossover/multiverse)
9. 1984 - 9 (it was almost the 3rd favourite)
I did not watch the rest of the seasons and I do not want to watch them. This show is just not for me... :(
I've calculated the average of the points, which is 7.5, but I still have more seasons I didn't enjoy than the ones I love, so I decided to deduct 1 point.
After all this, I gave 6 points.
