The Animal (2001)
The trailer looked so funny I had to watch it!
...And I'm glad I did! This movie is pretty funny; made me laugh a lot more than what passes for comedy so often these days.
The animal tricks were hilarious! Their trainers did a great job. The writers incorporated about every animal behavior imaginable into the script.
The lead actors and the casting were awesome, too. The main protagonist delivers a fine performance acting like various animals-reminded me of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!
Plenty of wacky, slapstick humor. Adam Sandler makes a cameo appearance. This movie gets raunchy at times, but doesn't RELY on maximum foulness and profanity to deliver laughs.
Good Advice (2001)
Surprisingly Good!
Charlie Sheen delivers an understated performance as a down-on-his-luck stockbroker. The cast includes the lovely Angie Harmon, as well as Sheen's future wife, Denise Richards.
The supporting cast is awesome, featuring John Lovitz and Rosanna Arquette, as the lead's best friend and his outspoken, yoga instructor wife.
After a stock investment goes awry, Sheen's character struggles to make ends meet, eventually taking over his ex-girlfriend's advice column in a bid to stay afloat.
Will Charley redeem himself and find true love? Will Angie Harmon's character discover that her star columnist is an imposter?
Madhouse (1990)
Not Bad- a Nostalgic Blast from the Past
Good to see Kirstie Alley in her prime! Some over-the-top, slapstick humor. The world's most durable cat!
John Larroquette and Alley have good chemistry, and some funny scenes.
Not a highbrow or thought-provoking picture, just good fun. Two people living the suburban homeownership dream, until long-lost relatives arrive-and things begin to unravel!
Plot holes, loose ends, unlikely twists, so-so editing, recycled 80's and early 90's tropes, bad synthesizer music, crazy swat team cops, nice
California scenery, silly dialog- this movie has them all!
This isn't the greatest comedy in the world, or some of the cast's best work, but it's adequate distraction!
Two for the Money (2005)
All right, all right, all lame
A greasy-haired Matthew McConaughey arrives in New York to start a new life. He teams up with Scarface and Rene Russo to learn how to cuss, and misplaces his moral compass.
I searched for redeeming qualities in this movie and came up empty-handed. Armand Asante delivers a mediocre cameo performance.
It was, however, more entertaining than watching paint dry.
Glengarry Glen Ross meets Godzilla vs. Megalon meets generic bad gambling movie.
Don't bet the farm on this one; you'll end up broke and wanting your 2 hours back. Or at least it seems like(at least)two hours.
I would almost rather watch two hours of a stoned McConaughey playing bongos.
