He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2021)
This is horrible version. Sorry Heman!!
I couldnt even finish watching first 10 mins of the first episode. It was totally disgusting CGI and takes away everything from the original Heman animated series.
Glad I was born at the time of the original series and could see an amazing cartoon series in my childhood.
Leave alone the quality, even staring at the overpowered glossy CGI gave me headache and eye burn. Kids, get ready to get bespectacled!
Astérix: Le domaine des dieux (2014)
Mindblowing adaptation of Asterix comics version
I watched this without knowing it has been released in 2014. I thought this was a new movie. The CGI was so good.
What I loved was how close they stayed to the comics. 10/10 for the animation team who must have poured in 1000s of hours trying to bring each inch of each character to animated version.
I was telling my mom, if they end with Cacofonix tied to a tree while the Gauls have a feast, then it means they will get a 10/10. And they did.
One of the best visuals was the shot of Caesar beneath the eagle's statue. Breathtaking.
Now I will look for more from this team :-)
Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010)
Pure Magic... My Best romantic movie.. Left a lump in my throat and a heavy heart
I have deducted 1 point only becos I think the climax was made a sad one just to draw audience.. becos sad endings mostly click at BO. But ya.. most real life love stories end in such a way.
Things I liked:
Cameraman Manoj paramahamsa who likes Blue color..Awesome works.. Even normal deserted streets look like Garden :-) I bow to ur effort.
The way all the songs start slowly with the scene and carry on. There are no abrupt scene shifts.. The song slowly builds onto the scene. All songs are absolutely made according to the scene. ARR is divine in this.
I have to accept that Simbu is very good and natural in the movie. Never seen him act so well. It suits him due to his tragic lover boy image. In the last part of movie, in Central Park when Karthik is imagining talking with Jessie explaining her abt his lover, his voice breaks and he is stopping himself from crying.. Simbu excels here.
Trisha is also a surprise! Seeing her u feel the next door girl image .. natural beauty.. Especially Chimayi's wonderful dubbing.. So soft spoken, emotional :-)
A typical end .. where the Girl is shown as a matured, practical and family oriented person and the guy is left alone, wounded and failed lover. Boo to Jessie!
My favourite scenes (actually i liked every scene): Karthik explaining Jessie how he wants to sit next to her and not across the table.
Jessie after walking away from church, explains to Karthik in her house how she likes him...
Karthik drops Jessie and says whats happening.. why shud we be friends.. and Jessies says I hate u.. to which he replies.. Thank you
Scenes where Karthik asks .. This is love right..
Of course Ganesh :) provides good support and a very good friend to have.
No over-the-top scenes, punch dialogues, unnecessary violence, sudden songs etc...
Gautam menon... hats off.. He has made me feel as though I was in the movie and its all happening to me :-) Wonderful movie..
A clean movie.. although traditional parents will not like it.
Hope all directors and actors make such movies.
This is the first movie to leave a lump in my Throat and a heavy heart. I am not that emotional a person, but this one knocked me off..
I want to experience a love like this but a successful one. Would be interesting.

Excellent Film which makes u feel u too r in the movie.....
As my Summary says, this film is too good and extremely natural... with its plot, acting, surroundings, situational comedy etc etc... that u feel u r with them in their neighborhood watching all this...
I have seen some serials of Sai Paranjpe on DD, but never heard of this movie though... Even though i used to live in Bombay those days.. don't know why i missed this... Is it a Hit??? should have been... it was those days when those stage actors like Ravi vaswani, rakesh bedi, Ompuri, nasserudding shah, M.K.Raina,Sonia Razdan, Ajit Vachani and the great Pankaj Kapoor aka Karamchand, of course Syed jaffrey, satish shah use to give such wonderful films... u all must have seen Jaane be do yaaroon... a gem of a film known for its Black comedy...
Coming to CB, it has limited back ground score and no lengthy over-the-top dialogue... but still story keeps pace in its own way and takes some turns towards the end... i liked everyone 's acting even the waiter who serves Tooti-fruity...;-)
Although u always knew that the kidnappers about whom the paper goes on writing about in various parts of the movie, are going to show their faces.. and the end was a bit very filmy....
Sai Paranjpe should have made many such films... don't know if she has...intelligent Director....
Also it shows the calm life of those days as the other member has quoted... empty wide streets and calm and easy going life... Easy going jobs... No IPODS, CELL PHONES.. >:-(0)
if had not been for the clichéd climax where hero saves the heroine and Syed Jaffrey ending up form nowhere... why there has to be climax chaos in such comedy movies no one knows....i would have given this film a 10/10...
Syed Jaffrey's relationship with the 3 friends was kinda cute... Liked his performance...
Deepti Naval was a bit OK and to the point... Liked Farooq though...was very good....
Most of the comical situations like the girl Ravi vaswani drops (actually is Sai paranjpe or her daughter!!!!... one of them) turns out to be some other guys GF.... must have been new at those days.. very innovative... yet simple...
There u have it. A very Fresh, Innovative, Simple, Unassuming, Comical story which gives u the feeling why such films are not made often... we could give so called natural Hollywood movies a run for their money...
2 more movies i would like to bring to notice are . 1) this film name i do not remember but it has Raj babbar holding Pallavi Joshi as hostage...can anyone tell me the name??? 2) Khamosh - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0089413/ - excellent thriller.. Many will be shocked to see Vidhu Vinodh chopra had so much talent at such a young age....
thats it....
Anbe Sivam (2003)
kamal, the real guru
good comments from all the members Following is one nuance from me .. one main lesson that is learnt by madhavan(in the movie) but not shown explicitly is when at first scene kamal tells madhavan that nowadays good looking, learned people commit crimes more than the not-so-good looking ones... When Yugi sethu steals madhavan's belongings madhavan must have learnt this lesson...
in fact apart from the hidden nuances of the film which u have pointed out... the film had lot of out spoken details of the society and what kamal as a individual feels about it... Be it the talk about Working for foreigners when they board the train and little details like when he keeps talking about his fathers death in a Tsunami, he dozes half way through it, meaning he has moved on with the fact of life.. and the way he asks madhavan if he goes around daily with thieves when madhavan says he has not seen thief in real!!!! or when he forgives the man in last scene, when he warns about using wet cell phones...
But i do not understand 2 things... why wasn't the rebel song and his Umbrella fight commercially famous when nowadays simple fight sequences with no relevance of place or facts get so much news... and i must say that the press and media have not given the credit to the film that it deserved.... in this world of cheap stories and acting... a Kamal film like this still does not get, if not better, equal hype to Rajini's movies... If one is hyped for its commercial value this film should have been promoted for its story value... Even Kamal requires his films to do good at box office and does not want his films to be called out-of-the-world and great!!!!Other wise he too will jump into the gutter that is around him... and of course one well known trivia for all of us is that we all know how much Sundar.C must have contributed ;-)
One more thing... It must be a heart break for some but this film has its "one line" plot from a Hollywood movie called "Trains planes and automobiles" but except the fact that 2 different people are made to travel together due to circumstances and one of them is narrating a story... The idea of atheist, practical, matured man who starts liking the emotional, finicky guy, nasser and kiran's character and also the train scene etc are kamal's own making and the underlying concept of the society is itself very fresh ... SO i hope everyone feels the same way... cos its not a first-scene-to-last remake
thanks all hope u all enjoyed my comments
