Rammstein: Live aus Berlin (1999)
listen to the songs, watch the video clips, share their ideas, but specially watch their performance in this show, and let yourself be convinced :)
but.. what can we say about this band? it's a completely new style of music. They formed in 1994 in Berlin, a year after they made their debut album (actually, that album has two songs, Heirate mich and Rammstein, which David Lynch brought to his movie Lost Highway in 96), then they began to be more and more recognized outside Germany (the States are, actually, the place where they have more fans, not counting on Germany, of course), and then they had the bright idea of editing a concert and make it a CD. That concert, in Berlin, 1999, had more than 80.000 folks watching, which shows us about the success this band are having. That´s that concert which we are talking about, and I repeat myself: If you like bands with a strong and powerful presence in shows and with a strong and powerful music, you should watch this! Many people say Rammstein play Industrial Rock, many others say they play Techno/Metal or even Gothic Metal, but maybe better than hearing their songs, is watching their performance in a show and free the devil we all have inside us. That's the point of Rammstein, I think. Besides, the simple fact of this DVD being brought to us, is the proof you needed about how much this band shall be recognized. Believe me, even if you don't give a f*** about Metal/Industrial bands, you should try this one, because you will find a completely new style of music, called RAMMS+EIN. :)
Gladiator (2000)
great acting, excellent directing, lovely script and wonderful movie
I think it was a great great idea to finally make a big movie about Rome and the Gladiators's life. In the latest 20 years, I think this is obviously the best epic movie. Director Ridley Scott proved one more time his versatility. One more great movie he made. This movie has great acting, wonderful directing, and the story is simply fabulous. Perhaps we could say much more about this great movie, but the ones who didn't see it yet dont't know what they are really missing. This movie is maybe the best movie of the 90's (well, actually it only came in theatres in 2000), and it's worth viewing. Nobody can detect weak points in this movie, you know why? Because it has no weak points. Ridley Scott and the rest of the crew members made an wonderful job. And, besides, the story is original. Great, great movie. Have a seat and enjoy it, and then have a seat and enjoy it again. Yes, because I really believe you won't see this movie only one time, but several times.
Predator (1987)
True Fear in a fascinating movie
Well, this movie deserves a place in the list of the best action/sci-fi movies ever. But what I think is what makes this movie faboulous is the ambient in which it´s played: The Jungle. The claustrophobic ambient a jungle provides, specially if you´re being hunted by an Alien with cloaking abilities and the most advanced weaponry known, is what gives the movie it´s TRUE FEAR. McTierman did an excellent job. But Arnold was in his best. As some critics said, I think Predator (and his character Major "Dutch" Schäfer) was his best action movie. But, as Arnold said, he wasn´t acting... there was real fear there! One more word to say that Stan Winston made one of his best jobs ever. WInston´s a genious. This movie deserves a place in the top. And it can be linked to other wonderfull creations like Alien and Terminator. Welcome to world of the Predator, fellas.
