Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special (2021)
Three of my favorite people...
..., all converging in one glorious location. Forget world strife, Covid, unemployment, evictions, hunger, paycheck to paycheck living, debt that can never be repaid and the pervasive adversarial stance of Americans toward each other. Three chatty billionaires displaying their depth of knowledge about we common folk and their undying pledge to empathize and help us. What poppycock.
In the Blink of an Eye (2009)
A Christian perspective.
I make no apologizes for being a Christian. However, I will make no apologizes for this movie. I knew its subject matter prior to viewing it. I sort of knew what to expect; I just expected it to be presented in a more professional way.
The cricisisms of the acting and dialogue are on point. The Groundhog day aspect of the film was SO repetivitve that I said to my wife, "If he wakes up one more time from a dream, I'm putting this spoon through my head." (We were having dinner at the time.) The lead actor (whose real life wife co-starred) is in several Christian movies. He's not a good actor but not a bad actor, either. Obviously done on a slim budget, this must be taken into account. If you're yearning for a rapture-type movie, take a look. You may turn it off after 30 minutes...or follow it to its telegraphed ending. If you're looking for a terrific movie, with a Christian theme, I'd put this one way down my list.
The Aftermath (2019)
Frankly, I am going to watch it tonight..
And will append to this comment ('review') later on. (Assuming that's allowed.)
I am actually writing to respond to the reviewer who believed that there was a miscue at the beginning of the movie--stating that it was 5 months after the end of the war. He says that WWII ended on September 2, 1945. That is accurate; however, GERMANY surrendered unconditionally in early MAY of 1945. The war in the Pacific continued until September. So, yes, five months after the conclusion of the war in the European Theatre and it still being 1945 makes sense.
Abandoned (2010)
Off the street actors?
I have never written a review on IMDb even though I view this site daily and have for 5 or 6 years. I'm not a movie snob; I'm like most people: I want to be entertained or made to think because of what I am viewing.
This movie could have been quite good. It isn't. Brittany M. was fine, but no one else was. The minor roles were cast with unknowns. Their acting was as poor as you'll find in a studio produced motion picture. This must have been done on a "shoe string" as everything about it appears cheaply done. You'll notice that the guns sound like cap guns.
Beyond its predictability, I think what bothered me most was the amateurish acting of everyone except Murphy and the Lieutenant; even Cain was poor. Was it poor direction and a bad script that created this serious flaw? I don't know. I do know that it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Make Room for Daddy: Danny Meets Andy Griffith (1960)
Different characters.....
It's also interesting to note that a couple things in this "pilot" did not translate to The Andy Griffith Show as they first appeared here.
The town drunk (who, of course, is Otis Campbell (Hal Smith) in the Andy Griffith show is called Will Hoople in this Make Room for Daddy episode, Danny Meets Andy Griffith, and is played by actor Frank Cady (Sam Drucker on Green Acres).
Also, Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show) appears as Henrietta Perkins, a poor widow whose deceased husband was buried in a rented suit that she's still paying 50 cents per day for...
Also: Rance Howard (Ron's father) and character actor Will Wright are listed on the show's credits-------but do NOT appear in the episode.
