The Towering Inferno (1974)
Steve McQueen shows us why he is the man.
This movie is by far the best 70's disaster movie. Fine acting by Newman, McQueen, and Richard Chamberlain keeps this action packed tale moving. This movie makes you think how you would act under these circumstances. The performance McQueen gives makes you appreciate firefighters and the work they do everyday.
Papillon (1973)
McQueen's Cool Hand Luke
Papillion(McQueen) is a man who will stop at nothing to regain his freedom. This is a classic tale of a wrongfully convicted man who is sentenced for life in prison. Dustin Hoffman gives a great performance as Dega, who will do all that he can to help out Papillion. McQueen's never say die attitude makes the viewer want to see him succeed.
This movie rivals The Sand Pebbles as McQueen's best performance. Hoffman displays early signs of greatness with his performance. This movie is definetly one of the 70's best.
