The Reader (2008)
I love this movie
So deeply impacting and enthralling that it made me shamefully weep for a NAzi! Isn't that truly art? Displaying the utter destruction of a human via shame and pride. So proud was that character, that in her last day would not fathom letting some kid take care of her in the end. A very strong willed but weak spirited woman. Kate Winslet did an amazing job of being shut down , walled off and dysfunction . Yet she also displayed an innocence and a nativity that would make it clear why she would be drawn to young people as her emotional peers. I also loved the way the Jewish survivor did not feel any pity over the Nazi woman's innocence of being a leader, because truly no one was innocent . As it was stated everyone knew and they did nothing!
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (2012)
Horrible 2015
Love and Hip Hop Atlanta fake! Just call it a dramatization with terrible acting! The producers need to dump it and start over! The cast consists of .....once was and want to be's ! On a positive note, momma Dee and her family story seems a bit real. Joslyn is real and dynamic but she is rare. Mimi is sickening. Stevie is a clown. Rashida fakes having cheating in her marriage. Adding more strippers who want to rap is not hip hop! This makes L& H H NY look really good, and it hasn't been authentic since Jim , Chrissy and momma Jones left! I had to turn off after 10 minutes! It is really the worst! Only completely mindless people will watch it ! It is ignorant programming!
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Tim Burton and the writers in 2001 did a much better job!
It completely departs from the original with the lab grown chimps thinking home is in the California national park ! Do bananas grow in the park ? Why would climbing a pine tree in northern California feel like home to an ape? And why does the genetic testing of apes begin in The year 2000 not in the past? Also, annoying feature was the use of fire hoses being turned on the apes like they were turned on African Americans in the 1960's ! I found that to be racially derogatory and disrespectful of a painful part of American history.
In addition, the apes were more intelligent violent and had fully developed characters in Tim Burton' planet of the apes. It even contains a cameo from Chaleston Heston! No true fan of the the planet of the apes, no purest could possibly appreciate this film. How IMDb could rate this film a 7.7 and the first planet of the apes is a 5.6 is insane!
The 2001 planet of apes used a ton of stunt people , not crazy looking CGI apes.CGI has its value but remember it is fake and displaces a lot of talented professionals. Wake up people!
