Lost: Tabula Rasa (2004)
Kate's character is interesting
Contains spoilers for later seasons
This episode was great. It showed more of Kate's past and you already see that she is not a "typical" criminal. Whatever the lady has done to be in handcuffs, there might be still hope for her. She has edeeming qualities such as helping a man on his farm and dragging him out of the car before it explodes although he's betrayed her before. Kate even grabbed a mask for the cop who arrested her in the plane, so he could breathe oxygen. Kate also refuses to kill him although she may have had the desire for a little bit. I understand people that don't like her because of the later love triangle with Jack and Sawyer, which may have wasted her character potential. I personally haven't thought about that really much because I liked her the whole time. Imho, you can't deny that she was an interesting character at the beginning of the show.
Sons of Anarchy: Na Triobloidi (2009)
Good season ending with flaws
That was definitely a good finale but it's not perfect if you look a little closer. Weston pays for his crimes against Gemma and accepts that fate. I like that he doesn't beg for his life but accepts his fate. What I don't understand is: Why wasn't he escorted by his homies? Did they suddenly let him down? I mean, he doesn't like cops, so why should he only rely on their escort? I'm not saying he would have gotten away like his former boss but it would have been more difficult to kill him.
It's sad to see that Sobelle got away with his crimes but at least he will have to suffer because of Polly's death. Clay's decision not to kill Alvarez is really odd. He made a deal with the Chinese and the Niners to push the Mayans back, so killing their leader shouldn't be a problem if he has 2 partner clans at his side.
I also don't understand how Polly got away from the house. It was under siege from Samcro. How in the world would she slip away? We only see the Sons from one side of the building but you can't tell me they wouldn't think of sieging every part of it. Polly would have been a perfect lever to lure Sobelle out. That plothole is still acceptable because she doesn't escape with her dad in the end. Stahl putting the blame of Eddie's murder on Gemma was pretty smart. In the first moment you can think, how dumb must Gemma be to grab it but I mean, it's a reflex. Almost everyone of us would do this without thinking.
Although the writing might not be perfect, the payoff is very good, so I'll still give the episode a 9/10.
Stranger Things: Chapter Five: The Flayed (2019)
Season 3 hasn't been great so far
This whole season has been a little bit odd so far. Hopper has become a joke, the whole love story with Joyce is just painful to watch. The Terminator guy doesn't kill him at their first encounter, so he can chase the chief now? Gimme a break. Steve, Dustin, Robin and that annoying girl infiltrate the lab without being seen? Are you serious? Half of the crew even looks in the direction of them and they don't see anything? Even if not, then there should have been a lot of cameras in this area...
Nancy and Jonathan just look at the creation of the monster and don't even try to run. The only good thing was that Steve kicked that guy's ass.
Suits: To Trouble (2016)
Suits's unlogical drama plots
Oh, man. I'm really starting to think that Suits puts in drama even if it doesn't make any sense. I mean, why should Mike trust a prison inmate on his first day and tell him everything, give him his girlfriend's phone number etc. That's completely out of character. Why should he believe that his life in prison would be like in films? The good thing about Suits is that actions have consequences, at least sometimes. If Mike had gone out of the trial lightly, I would have found it dumb and I also don't want him to be free too soon but you can't write such nonsense just to have a reason to show him in every episode. What I don't understand is, why the writers decided to imprison him now and not in season 9. I mean, wasn't the whole story supposed to be about the secret and its consequences for everyone? I'm sceptical because what's the point of going on? It would be really lame if Mike became a fraud for the second time, just not as obvious as before. The firm wouldn't even improve their reputation if they hired him as a paralegal. The show is about solving law cases, so I don't know how they want to continue that without telling a bad and unlogical story. I'm getting tired of a face-off between Louis and Harvey almost every time. It's only for drama and makes no sense in terms of story progression. Louis has changed, so why do they need to do that so often? Another big inconsistency is that Harvey is still in business although he shouldn't be. Why shouldn't have Forstman found out that he defended Mike in name of his firm? He seems to have so much influence but it's not enough for that? Yeah.. I don't think that this case will matter in the future and that's ridiculous. The show has plot holes, as all have and that's normal to a certain level where you simply do everything to tell a story with no sense behind it. I feel like Suits has reached this critical point. I don't know if it's worth watching any longer.
Loki: The Nexus Event (2021)
Lazy Writing
Holy moly. How can this episode have a rating of 9.2? The story is so illogical. Why should Morbius suddenly trust Loki who has betrayed him twice? Only because that soldier said the same thing Loki had before? Gimme a break. He should still be way more mistrustful now. The other soldier is a joke too. She suddenly believes that everything a Variant says is true although she has been so sceptical before. Yeaaah. Silvie doesn't kill Morbius's boss immediately? Fine but why is she full of beans, so she can "terminate" Loki? I can't put even in words how insulting this writing is. There are a few good moments but they cannot repair the show. The last episodes had the same problem but I thought it could become better. Apparently not.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Bounty Lost (2021)
A too quick rescue?
Oh, man. This episode has brought my doubts about the Bad Batch back (in the long run). This episode is good but still weaker than the last two episodes. I don't like Tod's decision to free Omega. As if a droid fell for that. Maybe his programming is more tolerant to that but yeah...
At least Bane got her very quickly. The duel between Cade Bane and Fennec was good but Cade had multiple chances to kill her and didn't do it? Come, on. He would never let her alive after she had come in his way. I know she cannot die now but that's still really poor plot armour. I liked that Fennec could compete with Bane. Maybe it was a little bit too much. Wasn't the arrival of the Bad Batch a little too fast? If they were that far away, how could they come to Omega's whereabouts so quickly? Whatever. The question is: What episodes are they going bring now? I really hope they just don't go back go the style of the first episodes. I feel like Omega's rescue could have been a few episodes later. They wouldn't have had to drag it forever. I hope this fast rescue twist doesn't destroy much potential.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Reunion (2021)
Improvement on Storytelling
The last two episodes have been a lot better than the previous ones. That's something you can work on. Hopefully they don't devolve again. The episodes has still problems which could be avoided.
1) Why do the Clones search the area so sloppily? I mean, do you want to tell me that they aren't able to at least take a look at every possible places they could be? Apparently not.
2) Why does Crosshair hesitate and doesn't kill them immediately? It doesn't make any sense.
I'm not gonna complain too hard on the storytelling of this episode but that's still really dumb if you think about it.
3) To Crosshair's second plan. He thought they will come out because they won't have another choice. It wasn't obvious that the Bad Batch had explosives with them, so it wasn't a bad plan,it had just bad payoff for him. He really looks like Dengar in his last shot I think it was. WAs that just a nice Easter egg or is he gonna become Dengar? I'm not sure if Dengar's origin story has parallels to legends or not.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch: Cornered (2021)
Too much wasted potential
This episode has good moments but I don't know if I keep watching it if it continues the kind of story telling. This episode contains a lot of easter eggs or similarities to the Mandalorian but I'm starting to think that the writers rely too much on that. I don't need too many of them in each episode. I don't want to see another Grogu Mando relationship. I want something new. All characters except Hunter, Omega and Crosshair are not very interesting. It's so much wasted potential. Echo could be much more interesting for sure. It feels like they need to fill each episode with the unimportant characters, so they can call the series the Bad Batch. Fennic's portrayal was very good, maybe a little too op when knocking out Wrecker. She seems to be a person that is neither good nor bad at that time.
Lost: Dead Is Dead (2009)
Ben's thick plot armour
Ben has too much plot armour. It's getting ridiculous. John is alive and he still lets him do whatever he wants? Yeah, of course. When you don't think about that, the episode is very good. Penny didn't die as I expected but I think Desmond will come back to the island somehow. The smoke monster gets some new brilliant scenes. I'll substract 2 stars because of Ben's plot armour. Hopefully he will do as Alex said because otherwise I'll be very disappointed. I'm not saying that villains need to be killed too soon but if they are still alive
after having no credebility it's starts to become very annoying.
Lost: 316 (2009)
Lost is losing its quality
Wow. That was a really cheap way to bring all Oceanic 6 survivors back to the island. Hurley, Kate and Sayid suddenly forget that they haven't wanted to go back? Jack just accepts the fate of the others passengers. I don't believe that. Hurley doesn't buy all tickets so they can just fly alone but buys at least 78? Why? That doesn't make any sense. As if he didn't have enough money (or at least his parents). I mean, it would have been to dragged out if it had taken a whole season just to bring them back but couldn't they do it more convincing? I'm starting to think if the last two seasons just exist to get more cash without caring about the script anymore because there will be enough people watching it since many mysteries haven't been resolved. The problem probably is that the writers have created such a complex story that they don't know how to end it properly. Ben's face implies that he has done something bad. I'm 100% sure that * Possible Spoiler*
he has killed Penny. Desmond will avenge her death.
Lost: The Shape of Things to Come (2008)
Plot Conveniences
I'm beginning to think that Lost has started to use too many plot conveniences. Sawyer and Claire not getting killed is ridiculous. Sawyer should have died instantly after the others got shot. You can't say that they somehow lost their aim. Jack only now realizes that Faraday's crew is not freeing them? Come on, this guy needed so long to trust Kate and they wanna tell me that he's believed in the rescue for so long? The Jack I know would have asked more questions and be more sceptical. Especially when rescuers carry guns. Maybe Desmond's recovery has changed his mind a little bit but that much? What's interesting is that Sayid believes Ben so easily. I don't know what has happened to that point in the future but it's a little bit unconvincing. That's not a plot hole, at least for now because that relationshil can still be explored in future episodes. Ben says that Widemore's people are dangerous etc. It is implied that he can control the smoke. So why doesn't he just use it immediately? Don't get me wrong, the scene where his daughter dies and he just feels pain is very good but if you think about what I have said it leaves some questions. All in all, the episode had very good scenes but not all of them were believable. Season 3 maybe had not so convincing parts too but they eliminated those in each episode or the next by delivering good twists that made the complaints unnecessary. I'm not saying that any series is flawless. That's not true but the amount of plot conveniences is starting to grow and that's not good. The Walking Dead has become very bad because of this. I hope Lost can show good twists that make me forget my complaints again because otherwise I'll have to believe that the show ends as badly as some say.
Lost: Exposé (2007)
Unnecessary Filler?
Wow. I haven't known that Nikki und Paulo were hated that much back then. I have thought that they will be new important characters because of this episode (at least before the end). I don't understand the hate for them. We barely saw them. I mean, that's
the reason why they weren't as interesting as e.g. Mr. Eko but they could have developed. So in one way, this episode is completely useless since we it don't really care that much about them but we still have story progressing scenes like Sawyer showing that he has changed a bit because he hasn't taken the jewels (at least for now. Please don't devolve him) or a potential long term mistrust between Sun, Sawyer and Charlie. The twist at the end is good but also destroys the whole episode. All in all, maybe it was a mistake to kill them off too quickly just to please the audience. Character development can change the attitude towards a character.
Lost: Enter 77 (2007)
Very good episode except one Locke scene
It's been another great episode of Lost but why have they included another stupid plot convenience? The twist that Michail's gonna free himself and threaten Locke was pretty obvious and not very believable. Why did Locke just not drag him to the computer if he wanted to play so badly? Locke is shown to be a reasonable character that wouldn't do such a mistake. Sawyer would have down that more likely. The way Michail freed himself is a mistery to me. It doesn't make that much sense. Nevertheless, it was a good episode. Every show has its flaws and as long as it doesn't include too many of them, it's acceptable.
Lost: Not in Portland (2007)
Where's the gun, Kate?
This episode is very good but I have one problem with it. Kate just leaves her gun in the room in which they find Karl? It makes no sense. Alex could have taken the gun if it had been too laborious for Kate to carry Karl and the gun...
It creates more suspense, I know. That's a poor excuse. I mean, it's a little bit implausible that both Danny and Juliet find the fugitives but maybe they are good at following traces, so I can overlook it.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy (2020)
Why do they include big plotholes to destroy an epic episode?
This episode was great again but why do have to be so big plotholes in it? They are even bigger than last week.
1) Mando doesn't grab his jetpack when he sees the enemies. He even has a button so It comes back to him...
That could have been fixed so easily. The Dark Troopers would have kicked his ass while trying to get Grogu back with his jetpack...
2) Boba's ship doesn't get destroyed although it could be seen by the Empire plus it flies so closely to their ship...
3) (I'm not completely sure) It looks a bit strange that Mando doesn't shoot at the stormtroopers right before Boba comes back with his armour.
But let's talk about the positive stuff too.
1)The relationship is shown and it has grown really much. I
2) Baby Yoda reaches through the Force. I want to know if he's reached out to someone. I still think he'll stay with Mando and not become a Jedi.
3) Boba Fett destroying everyone. Pure epicness.
4) Boba seems to have trouble with the Empire too. I have thought that he liked it.
5) Boba is an allie and not an enemy. I thought that for one second and then changed my mind thinking why would Disney do that? We're gonna see even more Boba badass action.
6) Moff Gideon. I think it's great that they don't overuse them. Every scene with him is very interesting.
7) Grogu using the Force. That's my boy. I hope he becomes strong again so he doesn't get sleepy all the time because that would suck.
I'm really interested if the Empire has been on Corvis too. I really would like to see Ahsoka help Din but that won't happen.
I've really wanted to give this episode a 10/10 but those big plotholes make it impossible although I've really enjoyed the episode.
The Mandalorian (2019)
The Empire needs wins too
The episode was good but in comparison with the last one it was worse. Seriously, was anyone scared when the Scout Troopers appeared? No because we knew what'd happen. But the attempt to kill our Heroes with an explosive was nice to see. The scene where Mando defeats the tie fighters is also Vera enjoyable but I don't understand how Cara and the Rest have survived although Tage pilot had a clear target. Whatever. The ending with Moff Gideon was very good, so I guess we'll see Ahsoka in action next week. All in all, I would like to see the empire kicking asses too instead of getting defeated all the time because that will ruin the suspense of the whole series. I hope the dark troopers will be more useful than normal troopers.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Shattered (2020)
Wow...
This is another great episode. So Ahsoka actually knows that Anakin has helped save the Chancellor's life, but she doesn't know that he'll turn to the darkside a few moments later. Maul gives props to Sidious although he hates him That's surprising. I''m pretty sure Maul could have killed Ahsoka by force choking her or he could have stolen her lightsabers at least but I guess he still wants her as his new apprentice or have her as a divertion so he decides to go. I only don't understand one thing. Has Maul diverted the blaster shots of the clones or have they just missed? The latter would be really bad writing because it's impossible to fail in such a situation.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Phantom Apprentice (2020)
An epic episode
The episode is simply amazing. The lightsaber fight is epic and I like that Ahoska hasn't defeated Maul with her lightsabers because that would have been unrealistic. She is quick so Maul cannot kill her easily (He could have cut off the steel though and she would have fallen to death but I guess he has just made the wrong decision so it's no plot hole)
