American Horror Story: Pale (2021)
Hum.. what
Have we seen the same thing ? It's tired, predictable, filled with overdone tropes and devices, you can literally predict everything that's gonna happen ten minutes before it does. It certainly looks good but that's about it. What a bore.
Lovecraft Country: I Am. (2020)
Spectacular
This was possibly the best TV episode I have ever seen. A love letter to black women, empowering, not so subtle but oh so finely written and acted. Visually absolutely stunning, even the SFX were excellent. The last scene in space made me tear up, I have rarely felt such rawness of emotion on TV (or film for that matter). This was a triumph.
The New Mutants (2020)
Awful
After waiting for it for 3 years I just feel betrayed at this point. How people are liking it is beyond me. This is awful. It's a movie we've all seen 1000 times before, nothing exciting, nothing interesting, mediocre acting and directing, bland characters, predictable story... I could go on and on. It's a mess.
The Umbrella Academy: The End of Something (2020)
Trash
Have we watched the same show ? This is middling at best. Everything about it is a sad cliché and that ending is just pathetic. Wth is wrong with people and their standards these days.
Dark (2017)
Masterpiece
Dark is a tv show for the history books. Dark is simply put a masterpiece and, to me, the greatest tv show ever made. It even feels reductive to call it a « tv show » considering how masterful it is.
The story is extraordinarily complex but never does it not make sense and you can't spot a single incoherence throughout the 26 episodes. Never. The actors' performances are immaculate, the soundtrack is haunting and powerful, the directing is perfection.
I could go on and on about the genius of Dark, but it all comes down to it being the greatest tv show (and love story ?) ever made.
