28 Weeks Later (2007)
Stupidity
Stupidity! Thats all of this movie: its basic, its carrier, its reason.
As basis of the plot it is needed a stupid man who begets with a stupid woman two stupid children. Then this family has to be put in a situation which forces a lot of reason and its qualities, like dispassionateness, sociability, farsightedness, being patient and brave, etc.
This would (normally) not be serious; because if the setting is reasonable nothing will happen. Therefore its necessary to put persons in the setting which are responsive for stupidity and carry on the stupidity to the next level (and a story could start).
Until now its a poor plot. In every everyday situation we have to show more responsibility (so that normally an audience is expected which expects more by a movie than a worsen everyday).
But to have a better plot it needs reason. And because there is a lack of reason in this plot, the plot has as reason stupidity.
The only value of this movie is to learn about stupidity in society (I am not ready to say, if their wouldn't be any stupidity this movie couldn't be sold). I am ready to say that this movie shows a reality which could not be part of modern days societies (not even in spheres of it) but shows well mechanisms and consequences of stupidity.
Only this is not enough to be frightened, its enough to suffer when viewing this movie.
And suffering this is not enough for a better rating than 2.
The Quiet (2005)
Don't believe the label
I have seen this movie without any previous knowledge about it, and I like the movie as I understand it, as a kind of "surreal comedy". Afterwards I heard this movie shall be understood as drama or thriller. First I don't believe it, because the movie didn't act as a drama (it would be superficial), but did act well as comedy (the story has breaks). Therefore my rating is given to this movie in respect as comedy.
This moment I read some other comments and now I query myself, if the ambivalence of the movies label and act was planed, than it is amazing, or if it is an accident, than it is an accident of luck, because it gives us a fine movie.
Blood+ (2005)
Nearly Awful
Motivated by the great 'Blood: The Last Vampire', I started with pleasant anticipation 'Blood+', only to be disappointed from the beginning.
I persevere hoping that the story will go its own way and being more interesting in later episodes.
But it was gloomy.
'Blood: The Last Vampire' has no outreaching story, but has a formidable style, some convincing characters and a peculiar art.
'Blood+' seems to be made pregnant by stereotypes, and nothing more than this.
Boring!
I needed a lot of willpower to survive viewing this 'lousy job', just to write this comment.
