The Recruit (2003)
WOW!!!!! A MOVIE WORTH SEEING, AGAIN AND AGAIN
THE RECRUIT is a truly unique movie that manages to pull off plot twists and turns without getting bogged down. Pacino's performance was perfect for his character and Farrell truly shines. The acting is amazing and the plot is ingenuitive, a true must see for anyone interested in spys or just seeing a great, amazing movie. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!! MUST SEEE!!! A++++++++++++ It had me thinking about it the whole night and next day!
The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron (2003)
quite impressive
ok, well, theres really no way to give a spoiler for this movie, cause, unless you've been living in a hole for the last year or so, you know enron went under and why. however, this movie actually makes it pretty interesting and breathes life into what could have been a boring story about how to get by the SEC with accounting tricks. christian kane's acting is amazing in this movie and is truly above tv movie quality. the only real problem (in my eyes) is the slight level of predictablility in the romantic aspect of the story. the ending could have been a little more interesting, however this is no fault of the actors, just mediocre writing at this point, however overall, the movie held my interest and was actually rather good my rating: four of five stars
The Sum of All Fears (2002)
A honest and truthful review of a great movie
WARNING: THIS REVIEW TELLS A SMALL NUMBER OF LITTLE TIDBITS ABOUT THE MOVIE WHICH SOME MAY CONSIDER TO BE SPOILERS, BUT UNLESS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE PLOT, THESE TIDBITS WON'T GIVE ANYTHING AWAY ABOUT THE FILM
I saw "The Sum of All Fears" the first day it came out and definitely do not regret a moment of it. This movie, although it may scare some because of the uncanny parallels it now has to modern American society, is thought provoking and offers some hope in today's world. The movie is yet another one starring "Jack Ryan," the Tom Clancy hero (this time played by Ben Affleck, which I must say definitely delivered an amazing performance) this time against a threat of a fission bomb placed somewhere on the east coast. The acting in this movie is superb and the character of John Clark is truly one of the most amazing ones in the movie because of the true talent with which the role is done (next to Ben Affleck's performance that is). Although there are some points in which the movie "just doesn't work," such as the fact that Ryan and his girlfriend manage to go through a violent helicopter crash and get thrown across a hospital weapon from the blast, respectively, these things do not detract at all from the movie. The dialogue is superb, the acting is complete and it is scary (although the latter is probably also in part due to the fact that the theater i was in was evacuated in the middle of the movie because of a fire alarm). I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't get exceedingly frightened about the current political situation and likes a good movie that isn't another mindless piece of dribble. In "The Sum of All Fears" Jack Ryan/Ben Affleck delivers what I consider to be the best performance yet! SEE THIS FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Mothman Prophecies (2002)
A Glowing Reccomendation of an outstanding horror film
With and amazing plot and beautiful cinematography, The Mothman Prophecies is truly a memorable horror film. This is one of the VERY ELITE few horror films that have terrified me. Mothman posseses a unique intriguing storyline that will have you crying with the main character and then sitting in complete terror as the story progresses. With something new and unexpected around every corner you will jump in shock, and the director uses camera effects that are truly amazing. Similar to those in the Keanu Reeves movie, The Watcher, however, Mothman suceedes in not allowing this to interfere with the story, only add to its suspense.
SPOILER FOLLOWING
The fact that the audience never really sees the mothman. just a short glimpse in the car crash scene, only adds to its suspense and terror, but be sure to look for small areas in the film in which the mothman can be scene (similar to the way it was done in What Lies Beneath). The final bridge scene is truly one of the most realistic reenactments i have seen in a long time, the suspense was extreme and it was extremely well done.
The Mothman Prophecies is a movie that I believe every true horror fan must see. It is unlike anything else that i have encountered. SEE THIS MOVIE TODAY!!!!!!!! IT WILL BE WELL WORTH THE COST OF ADMISSION!
O (2001)
A Wonderful Update of A Sad, Sad Shakespearian Play
"O" is a movie unlike anyother I have even been given the privalidge of seeing. It doesn't let the modern concern of trying to make it "happy" get in the way of it point. The acting and cinematography are wonderful and the best I have seen in a long time. This film truly encompasses the feeling of Shakespeare, yet places it into modern society. You feel for the characters as you witness thier lives. It is a wonderful movie that leaves you with a lasting impression. I reccomend this movie to anyone who can understand a serious film. Rating: 10/10
Return to Cabin by the Lake (2001)
The Type of Sequal That Distracts Greatly From The Original, Don't Even Bother Watching It
Return to Cabin by the Lake does not, in any way, stand up to the original. With only one main character (Stanley) returning for the sequal, the film is not even worth the 2 hours of your time. I am a huge fan of the first film, the story line and acting was really good, but this is one movie that I will never again watch. It is basically equal to what the sequals to Urban Legends and Blair Witch were like, but with much worse acting. I've personally seen better acting in soap operas, it is so pitiful that you just have to laugh. I, in no way, recommend this movie to anyone, watching it will just detract from the first.
