Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Huge disappointment
Not sure what the hype was. Story, script, acting were all third class. Story also a disrespect to the Chinese culture and society. The fightings were good so that's the 3 stars. Left at 50th minutes. Super disappointed with Marvel.
Cinderella (2021)
It's actually good!
Contradicting to most reviews, I think this movie is actually quite entertaining!. The key word is entertaining. The songs used were well rearranged with nice twists. Even thought the story has been altered quite a bit but so what?! The cinematography and dances were very nice. Another noteworthy aspect are the dresses and the filming locations. Overall, it's entertaining, funny, beautiful, and the music well formed. Perhaps not the film artistry the critics are looking for but it's a well made film.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Looking forward to S2 but will it take too long?
Great S1 even though some the humour may have been misplaced and too plain. "Are we there yet?" is just too old...
Christian Convery was excellent and hope he doesn't outgrow the character of GUS when S2 comes back (hopefully).
The problem with show that centered on children actors is if the producers wait too long, they grow up too fast. Their dynamics and features change so much that seeing them trying to act like a little kid throws the balance off a potentially good show. Even if the re-start of the story skips a few years the sudden change may not work, as the ending of prevous season does not allow that to happen.
The other problem with waiting too long is the interest disappear because the previous season's storyline is forgotten. Hope S2 comes back while the momentum is still there.
7th Heaven: I Hate You (1997)
Only if people would stop hating each other...
This episode is the most educational from all the series I've watched over the years. 7th Heaven is a well written and performed family series and unfortunately they don't make these type of high calibre dramas anymore. Would there be producers who are willing to do something educational instead of bad social jokes and stories we get now a days?
The Devil All the Time (2020)
Too dark and scary...watch it only if you have the nerve and stomach...
I could not continue beyond 30 minutes...too dark and sad and scary..That's probably how good/bad the movie gets as it's too much for some viewers.
Feel the Beat (2020)
Great feel good movie with a story
Worth every minute and a great family movie. Plot not complicated and has a story. A breathe of fresh air in a industry selling violent, ugly, and explicit contents.
Cursed (2020)
Total waste of time...
The description of NImue is boring and too out of context. She is but a stupid teenager with weak personality and underdeveloped frontal lobe. The script drags too long for her learning to even be remotely strong. The entire series is an attempt to drag to get more episodes. Don't buy into it. Total waste of time.
The Rain (2018)
I can see why...
(Spoiler Alert)
I read some of the reviews and many were angry about the characters and scripts, even from S1E1. I can see why. First of all the teenage sister, Simone, made the very stupid decision only 11 minutes into the episode that eventually killed her mom, (a result of not listening to your Mom!). The younger brother, Rusmus, keep breaking things and arguing and doing stupid thing that complicated things up. Simone continued to make bad decisions and those engulfed the entire E1
Well, Simone is a teenager, which means underveloped and sometimes dysfunctional Frontal Lobe (parents of teenagers you know what I'm talking about). Consistently making stupid decisions is not unusual. The younger brother is basically an overgrown baby who must have lived a life with over-protective parents, very much like the many youth I've met in my line of work. I want to applaud the writers for portraying these two characters as we would see teenagers and small kids today. Stupid and reckless. However, in many place these two were fun loving, courages, and observant, like many youths today too. Well done.
I'm only at the beginning of S1E1 and just want to leave this note. Looking forward to the remaining of the seasons. I'll come back and write my view after I finish S2.
*What is scary is we are in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic and I discovered this series...scary...
