Tony Manero (2008)
Brutal, disturbing but amazing
This film has lingered in my mind for a very long time.
The lead character is probably one of the scariest and most disturbing I have seen on cinema . He is without any morality and empathy but for some reason you are captivated by him and his life. You want him to succeed at first but as the film progresses you ate repulsed by him but stills obtain a fascination in his life. This is due to the writing and directing.?
The conditions and larger political scope of the film are well thought out, to live in that kind of fascistic government one such as the lead of this film is created and thrives. He is the logical product of that environment.
The scene when he kills the old woman for the TV is so disturbing i still think about it to this day and I saw it about three years ago.
The most haunting aspect for me was when he gets on the bus at the end and watches the winner of the competition and we all know what will happen, what he will do and what is store for his prey. Brilliant ending.
This is brutal, disturbing and amazingly directed.
Cleanskin (2012)
Good violent genre fun.
The film has violently constructed action and fight sequences. Heads splattering, arms snapped and one of the best head shots I've seen in a long time. The pace is good and Mean Bean is grizzled and grazzled, like he eats broken glass for breakfast and nails for lunch, the bloke looks like he's been shoved through a cement mixer and survived.
The terrorist is good and the guy who plays the assassin maniac who comes from abroad is seriously scary, that blokes eyes make you sh*t yourself.
I enjoyed it, it's a fun genre movie. Not for all the family lol!! and certainly not a date movie, you will not get laid with your lady if you take her to this movie but it's a lads film with a twisty turny ending that makes you know this is pure genre.
Ne le dis à personne (2006)
Liked it, well done writers
A husband gets a mail from his wife who was murdered previously years before.. The guy then gets involved to new info about her and he made to realize that the past is not what he thought it actually was, so its a commentary on how we view people with rose tinted glasses and how we translate the past to what we like to think it was.
The main problem for me was that there are quite a few sub plots to this movie which makes it slightly unbelievable to view but then that's the point so you go along for the ride. The execution is very effective and it keeps you guessing all the way through, wanting to know why his wife dissappears, and that's what I really liked about it. As a result the movie zips along at jet speed and you are pleasantly rewarded by the end, c'est magnifique!!!
