The Gentlemen (2024)
Crime Fetish Trash with no moral
You can read the other low rating reviews for how boring and cliche the characters and the story is, it is all true. So ill focus on how psychotic all the characters are and not worth cheering for.
At first you are led to believe the duke is a good guy just trying to remove his family from criminal operations, but it turns out he is the worst of the lot. He is an emotionless shark that takes joy in the crimes themselves and not the profits.
If he had used his psychotic tendencies to kill off the glass family instead of suddenly feeling bad for the brother losing a boxing match and instead killed other less worse people i might have enjoyed this some. But instead he becomes the glass family. This story is low effort and the promise of dukes character at the start is taken away later on.
As someone who grew up in real crime violence (think dead babies stuffed with drugs), i dont appreciate this type of trash that idolizes gangsters with no redeeming qualities and no, killing people because you care about your brother is not a redeeming quality when that brother should be the first to be put down.
The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
I didn't enjoy this.
In fact I was bored and irritated by the pace of the movie. Lot's of meandering scenes and dialog that didn't move anything forward. There was nothing interesting about the characters, including the killer. Just dull throughout. And then the ending was well, a total slap in the face because after sitting through that borefest there was no payout, no nothing. Just an affirmation that i wasted my time.
There was a good premise somewhere in there, but the way it was told just didn't work for me. Boring boring boring.
Monarca (2019)
Just Okay
The story is serviceable but the acting is stiff to very poor. The dialogue very unnatural and humorless - I know it's a drama but does it hurt to slip a bit of joy here and there. Overall a poor attempt
Emelie (2015)
Started Out Very Good
But then it wasn't
It really had potential as a psychological thriller. The initial stuff the babysitter does was very unsettling and didn't know where it was going. When her intent was revealed her initial behavior didn't make sense any more and the movie turns into a Home Alone type scenario.
On top of that the second half was very poorly shot, I kept rewinding to figure out what the hell was going on. Then it all fizzes out at the end with the usual evil baby sitter cliche ending you'd expect.
The Mist (2017)
The Alt-right is out on full force on this one. (spoiler)
There is no sjw agenda here, nor liberal for that matter. in fact, the gay character turns out to be a villain. a very disturbed villain. all the assumptions by the "liberal characters" turn out to be wrong. if anything this is anti sjw. there is a lot of hateful in the world but there seems to be a higher concentration hating this show just because it dealt with date rape (which turns out didn't happen), and a gay character.
the show is not the greatest but is way better than a 1/10.
