The Car (1977)
6/10
Great old classic horror flick
7 September 2006
I remember seeing this movie on TV back when I was about 7 years old, and just tonight caught it again on the Sci Fi channel. What a great impression that movie has on a child's mind! I thought the car was cool then and it still looks cool today. I wonder if the original car from the movie still exists somewhere? Well even though the movie is dated squarely in the 70's, it does provide a riveting plot and decent entertainment, if you can get past the idea that a driverless, demon-possessed, indestructible car runs people down in a desert town. And though the ending is predictable, it's not quite as predictable as you'd think. The only surprise is that they didn't try to make a "The Car 2." If you're into B horror flicks, this one is a good one.

Pretty bad movie

Ray Romano & Kevin James should just stick to their respective sitcoms on TV. OK, well maybe it's not their fault this movie stank, it's probably just the weak story line. That, and the fact that if this is supposed to be a comedy, it's not really that funny. You won't find yourself laughing at the jokes, because, well, there really aren't any. And while I'm not offended by vulgar language, the overuse of profanity in this movie seemed very clumsy & unneeded, kind of like a 13 year old trying to impress his friends by talking dirty.

Overall, it's no surprise this turkey went straight-to-DVD. And it's not even worth renting.

Aptly titled - At the theater I wished I was anywhere but there

OK, maybe it's because I'm a guy and the only reason I saw this movie was because I went with my wife, but this was the most boring movie I've seen in a long, long time. I don't hate chick flicks as long as there's a good plot, but this one needs a lot of work to make it interesting. About 15 minutes into the movie all I could think about was how uncomfortable the theater seats were. The only redeeming value of this movie is that Natalie Portman is hot... but this alone doesn't make a 2 hour movie worth sitting through if it's lame & boring. Perhaps it's a good mother/daughter flick but if you're a guy you'll hate it.

Repo Man (1984)

Worst movie I have ever seen
6 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is at the top of my list of all-time worst movies I've ever seen. It's been a while since I've seen it but nothing else has come along that stinks as much as this. I guess it probably wouldn't be that bad if it at least had a decent plot, but c'mon... the FBI hiring repo men to look for a car with dead aliens in the trunk? This is ridiculous because the FBI would have law enforcement looking for the vehicle, not repo men. The plot is extremely weak, the acting sucked, and the ending was the absolute worst. OK so they find the car, and then they start flying around in it? It's very anti-climactic. They could have at least gotten picked up by a spaceship or something, or at least had some explanation as to why/how the alien bodies are so powerful, but no... just open the trunk and get zapped, unless you're the repo man hero, then you get to fly around in the car. Just stinking awful, and Emilio should be ashamed at this ultra-low budget turkey he obviously was just trying to do something to pay the bills with.
