Escape from Area 51 (2021)
Acting below zero
I think that a film like this, before starting it, the director and the production intend to make it disastrous. The actors are disarmingly rigid, the plot horrendous. I think this film would deserve zero as another very similar one for its sci-fi plot and acting achievements: Moontrap Target Earth.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
Boring with capital letters!!
My preferences on apocaliptic, sci-fi, and zombie films or series convinced me to make this short review:
Is the first time in my large collection of films of this genre that actors AVOID killing the zombies any time everywhere!! Long moments of the episodes are destinated to analyze the actors characters of this poor story. I only wished to finish last episode soon expecting something outstanding. None... a total boring delusion. Avoid it at any cost.
Moontrap: Target Earth (2017)
A 50's Sci-Fi B-movie is far entertaining, worst film ever!!
I watched this movie because I love sci-fi and Sarah Butler's determinated acting on some other films first of all I Spit on your Grave. But never expected to watch maybe the worst sci-fi film ever. Acting of all the cast is dreadful. Scenes are repeatedly, arguments boring, and aliens if I can nominate them so, are a failure as al the effects of the scenes. Film is of a stressing slowness so I suggest if possible don't waste your time.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Apocaliptic TV serie with an original plot
I read that several are questioning why others give it a low score. I have the same opinion. The film was well done. But the TV serie is instead exceptional. Jennifer Connelly is a diamond point as an actress, her presence is enough to raise plot and tension to the chapters. And these in the 2nd season grow in intensity every week. Can't wait hearing that a 3rd season is announced by Netflix.
T-34 (2018)
Outstanding russian film, unfairly underated
I often watch Russian TV series on Netflix and it has helped me to discover and appreciate the enormous professionalism and talent of certain young Russian actors. I arrived at this film following two of them Alexander Petrov and Irina Starshenbaum first roles in Attraction (Invasion 1) and Invasion 2 (2020). This warlike film is the most touching I have seen along with Where the eagles dare (1968). I have not seen the original Zhavoronok (1965) and out of curiosity I will look for it, although I know that this actual remake is really outstanding and doesn't loses points surely. I read that the dubbing in English is not convincing, fortunately I have seen it in Italian without finding any deficiencies.
The plot has high tension from the beginning to the end with touching moments of reflection and the ballistic, action and combat special effects are very well achieved. 10/10
Epidemiya (2019)
Apocalyptic outstanding serie
A Russian apocalyptic series that caught me like Chernobyl in its time. Original plot, very realistic setting, very good cast. I can't wait for Netflix to announce a 2nd season. The story deserves it.
Nightflyers (2018)
An Alien civilization that we will never see
I am passionate about science fiction, I started this series and I really followed it with effort until the end to see what outcome in the plot it had, although at the beginning images of the end advance you which makes it very predictable. My opinion: boring. Everything is supported by the journey of a terrestrial ship that goes to meet an alien civilization that we will never see. The episodes during the trip are sometimes strange and not very credible and there is a lot of repetition. The actors also leave a lot to be desired. My advice: if you liked moving series like Salvation, Colony, avoid it.
