Saltburn (2023)
More like Slow Burn
For a plot and ending so intriguing and jaw dropping, it took what felt like an eternity to get there.
Don't get me wrong, the performances by the cast were really strong and the overall feeling behind the movie was very enchanting but if some of the filler sequences had been shortened or even cut the movie wouldn't have lost its tone and it wouldn't have felt as much as a "finally" moment when the twist was revealed in the end.
Overall, I thought the movie was really well written, in terms of plot, the cast was stacked with incredible actors who are on the rise and Barry Keoghan plays the role so well that it is both terrifying and exhilarating to watch.
Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022)
It was Fine. Not Bad, Not Great, Just Fine
I don't really have a leg to stand on because I did not read the book before seeing this movie so I'm not sure how it held up, but I thought the story was enjoyable.
The acting was good on both Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell's part and think they are both very talented, but there was really no chemistry between the two of them.
For such a romantically driven movie, I feel like there should have been a bit more chemistry or drive between the two leading actors.
I thought certain aspects of the end were unnecessary.
I feel that for the time period, her being made out to be the social outcast was accurate, but was confused as to how she went to Venice but was still somehow the subject of gossip and controversy.
But I'm a sucker for a happy ending so all in all, it didn't feel like a waste of time!
