Enjoyed the film - saw extended cut
1 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I heard bad reviews about this movie but wanted to see the DC movie universe in prep for The Justice a league Snyder cut. Overall I really liked it. Felt that Batman was darker than usual (didn't think he killed people but a does a few times in this movie). Over all it's a great super hero movie.

Only complain is I felt like Jesse Eisenberg really tried to be a Heath Ledger Joker in his way of showing Lex Luther. Long hair, erratic movements, playful yet crazy manner, and just the way he spoke his lines really made me feel like he was trying to channel Heath in his portrayal. Other than that I enjoyed the film a lot.

Solid movie over All

Great coming of age film that ended just as I had hoped it would. Starts with two naive kids and at the end they have experienced parts of life that some of us never have to go through. Soundtrack is great as well, really gives the sense of a town in the middle Of nowhere as well as capturing the sense of mystery that all of us had as a child.

Entertaining Sci Fi, not perfect but a fun watch
15 November 2020
Some of the criticism was that they didn't cast an Asian as the lead role. I can see why that is an issue. However I think scarlet Johansson does a pretty good job of playing major.

I went in just wanting a cool sci fi movie that would introduce new ideas or build off of those from the anime. And I got just that. There were a few scenes where I was convinced I had seen the movie before but I think the scenes were just so similar to the anime that I was unsure.

Overall I really enjoyed it.

Much better than expected
14 November 2020
I went into this movie not expecting much but a action movie to watch Friday night. I was much more into the story then I thought I would be and movie turned out better than expected!

Ryan gosling and russle Crowe do really well together. One playing the tough guy who will break your nose with morals and the other playing the shrimp with none. I'll let you try and figure out who is who

Slow movie, but great ending
14 September 2020
I found the movie to be a little slow but it was a still very enjoyable. About 3/4 the way through it really picks up and then the ending is very chilling. I have to rewind it because it was so creepy. Recommend movie!

What a ride. A twisted ride.

I thought this movie was really good. It is really unsettling and uncomfortable in a good way. There are so many foreshadow moments/ symbolism in the film that you'd need to watch it again After finishing it.

Incredible and unsettling
3 September 2020
This movie is extremely memorable. The being is incredibly unsettling and iconic. Even with modern day sci fi films the ending of this one makes you feel very uneasy.

One thing I really enjoyed about this film is even though it's sci fi there isn't really a need for any practical effect (except a costume). It holds really well in today's standards because of this and the the only thing that really "dates" it is how they talk and dress.

Imagine viewing this the first time in 1958, would blow your mind.

Classic window into 70s horror
2 September 2020
This definitely had the feel of the 70s. The music, atmosphere, way they talk, clothing, all 70s. Even the effects make you feel like it's the 70s.

The movie itself is pretty average in my opinion. Maybe I'm spoiled from minders movies but I had a hard time staying interested. Story was a little slow, and I kinda wish there was more spheres in the movie.

One thing I didn't like is after the plot is wrapped up, one of the characters just straight up dies off screen. One scene he is a hero, then next he is dead. I had to rewind the movie because I thought I missed something.

Over all it's a cheesy 70s horror movie. At first I thought it was a satire movie but it is serious. Entertaining, yes. But I don't think I'd watch this again unless I wasn't sober.

Sequel to Shining = bad movie. Standalone film = great story
25 August 2020
If you go into this movie expecting a sequel to "The Shining" you will be very disappointed in this film.

If you go into this movie looking at it as a stand alone film with themes based from "The Shining", then you will enjoy it.

I found myself leaning towards the first expectation. Expecting a sequel to the shining after seeing the shining the night before. I didn't like it. Felt super corny and I kept asking myself why was this film made?

Then I found myself thinking about the movie a lot the next day and how I was entertained by the story.

One thing that stands out though is they recast actors to replay roles from "The Shining". They get 2/5 were I wasn't bothered. The other 3 were nothing like the original actors and it distracted me to the point where I wasn't sure if it was suppose to be the same character.

Entertaining and Sci Fi
25 August 2020
Very entertaining film. I was searching for a sci fi movie I had not seen and came across this film. I liked a lot of aspects about the film but there were a few things that I did not like.

1. There were 2-3 times Ryan Reynolds character makes a joke that just doesn't hit at all and it kind of out of place

2. Ending was somewhat predictable once you are 45 minutes away from end

3. At one point the creature seems to "teleport" in order for the plot to make sense (I was convinced there was two creatures until the end of the film and they never showed the 2nd making me think I was wrong)

Other than those 3 I really enjoyed the film. It's sci fi, with aliens, so you need to suspend your belief in order for it to make sense.

Ps: nothing to do with the film, but how would this creature survive on mars at all? Seemed like it was very capable of traveling/floating in zero g, but there is no way this creature could move like that on mars. It's basically a jelly fish and "swims" in zero g, but how would it do this on mars with gravity? Would be so slow

Family Guy: Road to Rhode Island (2000)

Best of family guy
18 August 2020
This episode is a classic and probably my personally favorite of the series. Perfect combination of story, cutaway gags, jokes, and a musical number. Over all a spectacular episode in which all characters are involved.

This episode was an experiment by Seth to see if the unlikely combination of Stewie and Brian would work. Needless to say it as a hit and lead to many more "road to..." episodes.

Entertaining

Very entertaining movie. Plot was a little repetitive (girl had something traumatic happen, gets cops, cops come and nothing is there) but still enjoyable and light hearted.

I hadn't seen this movie since the first time I saw it when I was a child. Now 20 years later I sat down and watched it again.

Wow, was I blown away. Put it on as background noise originally, but got so sucked into to I ended up watching It to completion (even starting it over).

Songs are great (although you can notice a few times the characters not moving their mouth), scenes still hold up, and watching it as an adult I noticed slot of dark after thoughts (One character falls down a tube and wonka just goes "oh their going into the incinerator, nothing we can do now....oh this tube is every other day now that I think about it....they may have a fighting chance!" as if he doesn't care that this character is about to be burned alive).

Multiple times I found myself Smiling from the songs and characters. Everything holds up in this film except the very last scene is somewhat dated due to effects at the time. But this is so minor compared to the entire movie.

Family Guy: The King Is Dead (2000)

The beginning of the mental decline of Peter
7 August 2020
This episode isn't as good as the rest in the season, but there is still a coherent story (missing from current season) with some funny jokes. In short peter takes overs Lois's shot at directing a play. Peter makes it ridiculous and you can imagine what happens next.

I think this is the beginning of peter going from somewhat mentally stable to mentally unstable. Previous he makes jokes that are witty but you start to see his actions/jokes making him a mentally unsound. It's not a "one joke to set up the episode" like Peter writing "deceased" and death coming in the previous episode. This is Peter being dumb and dumber through out and taking it another step each joke.

Still, a humorous episode from family guy old, however this could fit in with recent family guy and you would only notice because of the animation.

This episode still kills it
7 August 2020
Peter becomes death in a humorous accident and then must perform his duties to claim souls after the world discovers there is no death.

Norm McDonald kills it as death. His voice acting is perfecting for the role with his sarcastic tone. Episode would hit differently if someone was voice acting death.

The best joke in this is when death asks Peter "can you imagine if hitler was still alive?" and hitler has a game show interviewing Christian Slayer.

Family Guy: Love Thy Trophy (2000)

Another classic of Family Guy Old
6 August 2020
There is something about this early episode. It's a basic story about friends fighting over a trophy and it leaves a lot of room for jokes, stuff in the background, and memorable quotes. Many great moments that make you miss Family guy as it once was. The subplot is also great with Meg trying to get money for a purse. This is the first time we also see Cleveland junior and is the 3rd episode with Tricia Takanowa.

My favorite from this episode: Kevin "My dad always says measure twice, cut once" Cleveland junior "My daddy always says Cleveland junior stop jumpin' on the bed AHAHA HAHAHA" (starts sawing the board) Kevin "We didn't measure! We didn't measure!"

Episodes like this that made Family Guy great
6 August 2020
One of those unexpectedly touching cartoon episodes that puts a smile on your face not from laughter but from the message at the end. The episodes where Seth makes Brian's issues human are some of the best and the ones that stand out. The first one being the season finale of season 1. Episodes that don't base the entire episode on Peter being borderline mentally ill or Stewie being queer are some of the best in the series.

The jokes on this one aren't as cleaver and witty, however the plot of this episode is the main driving factor. This episode is about Development and exploration of the relationship between Brian and Lois. A problem that many of us have faced in life, being in love with your best friends girl. What do you do? Do you tell her and ruin the friendship? Risk your best friends friendship? I won't spoil what happens, but the message at the end gives you a great feeling of optimism and makes you do the same thing with you own life. There are jokes that stand out though. The opening scene features Stewie invading mr. Rogers world and there is another joke about the George Jetson getting trapped on a treadmill.

A relic of what Family Guy was
6 August 2020
A great episode from the days of old family guy. Filled with epic fights, strange references, and silly/witty jokes that I did not understand as a kid when I watched it over and over again and now fully appreciate rewatching, for example:

Peter: "this is just like that time I was head of the bulimia clinic" Flash back Peter: "hey did anyone throw from that fish last night?"

This episode also has the beginning of the epic chicken fight and you see the origin of that relationship.

Overall this episode is great. Coherent story, lots of jokes, and memorable quotes.
