I just watched E09 the musical. The story starts with trying to increase subspace communication speed. I guess the writer never heard of Quantum communication. That said, I look forward to an episode of pantomime ST on ice, oh yes they can. Imagine going to a Stallone action movie and finding the muppets have a big part in it. I like both, but please.
Its not new to have a silly-fun episode in the season, Next-gen and Voyager both had theirs. Images of Worf in a cowboy hat comes to mind. My two pennorth is; every episode, so far, has been a rehash of a previous story or theme in the ST family. Mostly they focus on social problems still persisting a few hundred years into the future. I so hope thats an inaccurate prediction.
Sadly, at this stage, there's just one episode remaining, and still, no strange new worlds in sight. In fact, anything but. Perhaps the tile should be; Star Trek: Old stories given new life. Truly, to a diehard trekkie, the old story rehash is the only proof the writers have actually watched a previous episode of the franchise. The fact they've had serious trouble coming up with something original at least leaves hope for all the wannabe writers out there.
Not seen E10 at this point, but I'm already looking forward to S03 and sincerely hope they actually discover some strange new worlds along with some new stories. That would be nice. Live long and stuff.
