Fingers (2019)
Wow this one caught me off guard
I waste to sure about this one when it started but as the story progressed I got more and more fascinated by it and by the end throughly enjoyed it. It did slow down a bit in the middle but picked up in the 3rd act. That 3rd act does not disappoint especially the last 15 mins. I loved the subplot with doctor and the masked men caused for some really great dark humor especially from the main masked guy. All in all had a great time with this one check it out if you have shudder solid 8/10
Swallow (2019)
Made me sick just from the trailer
Just wow Just wow is all I can say about this one it's been awhile since a movie has made me felt this way. You just feel for Hunter being brushed off by almost everyone around her & stress from being pregnant she forms a psychological disorder called "pica" which means she craves harmful objects. An boy those scenes of here swallowing the objects and just seeing the aftermath effects of some of them is truly disturbing and hard to watch. This movie surprised me and exceed my exceptions with some of the twist & turns it takes. It's beautiful shot as well a score to match you want help look away but it like a bad car crash you can't keep looking at it. It was a wild ride and I quite enjoyed it. Solid 9/10 can't wait to see watch this director does next.
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2020)
Just what we needed to save 2020 Borat!!!
Going into this as a huge fan of the first one. I thought it would be a big let down but to my surprise it was on par with first one. While I do still like the first one a bit more. I liked the story and where they took Borat's character. Adding his daughter into the mix was hilarious and where they go with it I didn't see coming especially with Borat's character. Although a lot more this time around is scripted the non- scripted parts are still great but are no where near as close to the first. Although the moment with a political figure I don't see how that figure will comeback from this. All in all I was surprised with final film really funny while not topping the first I think IMO its not to far behind the first easy 8/10. Also shout out to amazon for releasing it early.
Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street (2019)
Mark Patton is the true scream queen of the 80's
At times this movie is heartbreaking, sadden & at time made me very angry. To see what Mark Patton went through is truly heartbreaking to see his promising career turn to ashes after one film. I'm glad we see him take back and uses this as positive experience and go on tour to show people it's okay be yourself. To see him the get the closer he finally needed to move on. All in All this a great doc I would recommend to everyone.
Antebellum (2020)
Unwarranted Hate For a Pretty Solid Film
If you watched the trailer for Antebellum, like Garrett and I did before going into it, then it's more than likely that you speculated about what the 'twist' of the film is, so to speak. Garrett and I had two wildly different theories (involving a simulation and time travel, respectively), both of which were laughably incorrect; we attribute this to the somewhat misleading trailer. Speaking of which, the trailer depicts two distinct settings: the modern day and the Antebellum period. The dialogue also slips in a line clearly meant to throw the viewer off from guessing the twist, and it succeeded in doing so--to the point where Garrett and I were questioning which setting was real and which wasn't. It isn't until roughly the midway point when the pieces starting falling in place and the twist was revealed, leaving both Garrett and me satisfied. The casting as well as the acting were top-notch, and I was especially impressed with Janelle Monáe's performance. The soundtrack is elegant, and, when paired with the cinematography, makes Antebellum aesthetically pleasing from start to finish. The film has been heavily criticized for its portrayal of racism, but it serves to indicate--albeit extremely--how racism is still a prevailing issue in society today. An original concept for a film that kept us on the edge of our seats with surprisingly tense moments and well-written characters. A must-watch of 2020.
You Cannot Kill David Arquette (2020)
David Arquette cements his status as a BADASS!!
At the center of this documentary it's all about a man just trying to earn the respect of his peers. I really love how you get this inmate look into David's life with his family and everything he goes through you can see he just wants to not be a joke anymore in the wrestling industry and earn the respect of his peers in the business. throughout this doc you see him put his body through hell to earn the respect of his peers as well as redeem his self to the fans. I really love the trials and tribulations of him dealing with janky promoters to wrestling convention signings to even god damn death match with Nick Gage. One of my favorite parts of the film is when he goes to Tijuana, Mexico to train with some wrestlers. Wrestling in traffic at red lights for change evening hitting a ladder spot. So if you a fan of David Arquette or heard about the death match or even watch WCW back in the day I think you'll like this documentary. not to mention its beautifully shot. Its a solid 9/10 for me. I also have a YouTube channel where we just dropped a review for this movie would love if you guys checked it out at Matt and Garrett take the movies dropping videos every Monday @6pm EST
