when two fake lifes meet
17 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching this romantic comedy.

Richard Gere (Edward) performed great, but Julia Roberts (Vivian) was not the right choice for her role, hooker.

Her general stance is not a hooker.

Edward is a New York corporate tycoon buying and selling companies. In one of his business trips, to Lose Angeles, he met with Vivian; a hooker.

He asks her to escort him for a week; Vivian's response was an instant yes.

She is to attend in his business socialising activities But this deal twists to become a comic and romantic relation.

Vivian triggers some empathy in ruthless money & business minded Edward, even to his own surprise, which results changes in the way he is doing business.

And Edward also has an influence on Vivian who initially portrayed as classic hooker, and destined to be hooker.

Vivian can not deny to herself she is in love with him.

I think most impacting moment of the movie was at the end of the week where she rejects the payment from Edward just because Edward, unintentionally, reminds her that she is a prostitute.

That moment was so intense; her reaction was like as if her life was total fake. Movie is great to show some such instances.

I also loved some second characters performances, like Héctor Elizondo as Hotel Manager Barnard , as Elinor Donahue as Bridget in luxury women cloths shop.

It is a strong psychology movie with comic and romantic story It shakes our strong attachments, flow of our life that could be all fake and fragile.

Psychology of The Will in Science Fiction society
10 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching this movie.

It's scenes, dialogues, settings are compact, strong. Particularly settings have a strange, deep effect on the viewer.

It feels like entire movie is taking place on a simple science fiction theatre with no computerized widget & sound crowd.

Darkish pastel colors dominate the scenes from start to end creating a mystical, cubical, logical suspense.

Settings are simple, colors are basic, dialogues are short, sharp, and to the point; I would call it a piece of minimalist art.

Movie is combination of fantasy and reality, like a real psychology story in a fantasy setting. It is a presentation power of will, envy, determination.

Story takes place in a country where humans are grouped into two in terms of their genetic; VALID, and INVALID ones.

And this culture is just normal and accepted by everyone.

Valid ones are superior, and candidates for prime jobs.

It is a story of the mind and the will of an invalid person.

Vincent is the protagonist, and he is invalid and has a dream of being an astronaut participating in space missions.

And his brother Anton is a valid one.

Anton seems to lack passion for anything, eventually ending up being an crime investigator on police department.

Vincent first starts working as a cleaner, help boy in a space station.

Knowing that he has no chance of being astronaut, he still follows his dream, does the self study on the subject, and also physical training.

Eventually he concludes that his efforts are worthless unless he has a valid blood. So he decides to fake his identity, scum the system with a valid one's identity.

And he finds someone for that, Jerome.

Jerome is a grandiose swimmer who became second in an international competition and he can not cope with the result psychologically.

And he wanted to kill himself with a traffic accident, but he fails, and his body gets paralyzed.

Jerome provides Vincent all necessary material like blood, urine, hair samples to pass regular controls.

Eventually Vincent is accepted to Space mission program with the identify of Jerome.

Administrator of the mission has suspicion on Vincent and he gets killed. And this murder is investigated by Anton. Anton gets suspicious on Vincent.

While investigation is taking too long and jeopardizing the mission to Saturn, Director of the of the company confess that he killed the administrator because of risk of failing the mission. However It is never clear who killed the administrator.

Anton implies that Vincent is fake, and his participation in the mission is a scum.

So he invites him to do this swimming competition where they swim into the ocean until one gives up.

They used to this while they were kids, and call it chicken game.

In the test, Anton gives up; and on the return, he was going get drawn, but Vincent save his life.

This clears the Anton hurdle for Vincent.

He eventually gets into the ship to Saturn. Jerome leaves enough blood, hair samples for the rest of Vincent's life.

This was a story of great Will, and fatality of grandiosity.

The Will to overcome will to set the rules; even science, rationality are not perfect enough against human will.

Hard logic presents weakness against the will which fluid , smart, and strong, and eventually it triumphs.

Vincent's will finds support at all corners. His valid girlfriend helps him.

The doctor who does the validity control helps him. Why? Because doctor's son admires the will of Vincent for the mission.

So The Will flows and find it's way.

Jerome is equally interesting character. Why does he participate in this scum?

Does he hate the system? Is this his revenge from the system?

Or is it his own unstoppable grandiosity to make his name living forever strong?

Or is it both, that is living in a system you hate while still want to be at the top.

He kills himself when Vincent lifts off in the space ship.

Actors are superb, their performance proves they were the right choice for the movie: Ethan Hawke (Vincent), Uma Thurman (Irene), Jude Law (Jerome)

Fun & Fantasy - Yu will remember this movie
15 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is very interesting interesting and entertaining fantasy movie.

Phil (Bill Murray) is a TV Weather reporter and Rita (Andie MacDowell) is a producer.

They go to a small town to report on a Groundhog Day festival in a small town, Punxsutawney.

Phil is bit of tired of his Job, and he is planning to leave his current job for another Broadcaster.

After reporting on Feb 2, on the way back heavy snow stops the traffic, and they have return back, stay the night in the town.

Next day, Phil he founds out that date is still Feb 2, he starts see the things as the previous day; and only person aware of this is himself, rest of the people live their life as if it is their first time.

This is the main flow of the movie.

After a few days he starts using this for his own benefit like he eats what ever he likes, because he does not get fat, he breaks the rules because he has no concern for tomorrow, and then next morning everything starts from scratch.

An he wants to seduce Rita's. In his conversation with her, he learned every day more of her personality; and next day he uses this to seduce her.

Though Rita is stunned with his approaches, she still rebuff his them.

Eventually Phil got sick of this repetitive life, and wants to kill himself; but that was also not possible.

Then he changes his dealing with it, and starts doing just the opposite; using his power for the good of community.

For example saving a man's life by interviewing just on time. This style seduces Rita even more.

And he decides to tell his story to Rita.

Rita convinced in his story decides to sleep wit him to see if they will get up together next morning.

And next morning she is on his bed, and it is Feb 3.

They love each other and decide to continue their life in that town.

Repetitive daily scenes where Phil is acting different, and funny.

Movie shows the simple repetitiveness of our lives.

It eventually praises traditional American morality that good always cracks the resistance of bad; in this case bad is the repetitiveness.

Bill Murray was great, but I love the performance of Andie MacDowell.

waste of time
28 January 2022
What is the theme of this movie?

Nothing.

There is no story, and plot is a mess.

Why on earth people make such movies?

Though cast is good.

They really act good; but in a nonsense setting.

Is this movie about how hippy and rock'n roll generation were like cowboys in the wild west.

Were their souls same?

Anyway, waste of time.

"Your lack of passion is unforgivable"
5 January 2022
It is a very romantic and sad story based on Beethoven's life.

Beethoven dies, and leaves a letter to a unnamed loved, naming her Immortal Beloved.

And in his testimony he lives all his material possessions to her also.

Beethoven's personal assistant searches for this women, end eventually finds her after going through some inquiring on two candidates.

Movie is a plot of memories of these two women with Beethoven.

First of all acting of Jeroen Krabbé (Beethoven's personal assistant) engulfs you through out the movie.

Then comes Valeria Golino, acting in the role of first candidate for the letter. This is the first time I saw her acting, and loved it.

Particularly her face, and mimics are mesmerizing.

My most favorite scene was where she wanted to tease Beethoven at piano lesson; particularly her face when she wants to annoy Beethoven.

And I think in the same scene, Beehoven's reaction to her, "Your lack of passion is unforgivable" was the ultimate summary of his soul.

At closing stage, Johanna ter Steege ( immortal beloved) performance is so real to watch.

Evil of Group thinking and scapegoating
5 December 2021
This movie is in a way a great documentary on the life of early Christian migrants living in America.

The story is a witchcraft practices among the girls of a small community to get the man they love and then the subsequent developments.

Dialogues are fantastic and give you immediate sense of psycho, social life sphere of the time.

As always, watching Daniel Day-Lewis is immense enjoyment. Winona Ryder is amazing, Joan Allen is outstanding.

One would love watching these motional and deceptive scenes.

And I love also the performance of Judge, Paul Scofield, who brings sort of Godly authority to the situation.

It is a two hours movie, and feel like a comedy type but quiet serious.

Setting also gives lots of info about the life of early migrants to America.

Moral story of the movie is evil power of group thinking, and scapegoating.

After the movie you will Google who is Winona Ryder (if you don't know her like me)

Wicked revenge
2 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about revenge psychopathy.

A gynaecologist, Dr. Mott, commit suicide as a result of sexual abuse accusations from his patients.

First complain comes from Claire, who is pregnant to her second baby, and having a happy family life.

Her complain also triggers other patients to file complain about Dr. Mott.

In the mean time Mrs. Mott is also pregnant, and loses her baby after hearing the news.

And then she decides to destroy the life of Claire.

Claire is looking for a nanny for her new born baby. And Mrs. Mott is becomes their nanny under the name Peyton.

And then strange, unexplainable unfortunate incidents start in their life.

Revenge psychopathy is covered with a cool story, and simple plot, and settings.

One can not give a break while watching.

And all the cast perform cool, particularly Rebecca De Mornay in being cool, and wicked, and Ernie Hudson in being mentally disabled role.

An emotionally intense subject is covered in 110 minutes.

However suspense could have been better, more real.

when things are not what you thing of them
20 November 2021
This movie was made in 1971.

Clint Eastwood made a movie beyond his time.

Theme of the movie is really eccentric, at least by then.

A psychopath lives with her delusions, instead of the reality in the field.

And she goes mad when she is reminded of the facts.

This sort of psychopathy now is now common, even ordinary.

In terms of camera, scenes, settings, dialogues, it is a raw movie.

But who cares.

Plot was great, theme was great, I loved it.

so ordinary, amateurish
20 September 2021
This movie is supposed to reflect psychological disturbances of a boy who lost his brother in a small sailing boat in a stormy sea, and he feels responsible, and guilty for the loss of him.

And then his mother's looses her affection against her husband and younger son after death her elder son.

Psychological disturbance of the boy as a result of guilt feeling is not convincing.

Mother displays a character of an order freak at home, and acts like a resentful robot against her son.

All acting in this movie looks amateurish. And plots are sooo boring.

From the beginning to end, for every actor, one feels that casting was wrong.

No one is impressive.

And I remember of nothing of the soundtrack if there was one.

Unconditional surrender, LOVE
23 August 2021
Amazing movie displaying the tricks women employ against men in a romantic relation, and men's unavoidable conscious naiveness or rather helplessness against them.

Movie displays the men's true nature of love, maybe comparable to the last of Mohicans.

(New Modern men is no longer like this. Modern men is in competition with modern women in deception. )

Plot takes place in Paris, and Seville.

A rich, middle aged Paris gentleman, Mathieu, starts a love at first sight relation with a a hotel maid in Paris' Conchita.

( I am not sure if there can be any other name for this character ) She is from Seville, living in Paris.

Conchita is irresistibly beautiful, and she capricious , and ruthlessly playful.

And every time at the end of her game she manages to explain everything innocently, leaving Mathieu in state that he has no choice but to believe in her.

In fact, she makes not only Mathieu to believe in it, but also the viewer.

Movie is a compilation of her tricks against .. and his disappointed reactions against them.

He just accepts he is helpless for his love.

Fantastic romance/love/relation psychology movie for both genders.

(fake) manners of bourgeoisie
15 July 2021
I loved this movie.

Scenes, settings, dialogues are witty, simple and to the name, and theme of the movie.

It takes place in Paris.

Movie is composed of real / surreal mix of a scenes where six people, three women, and three men, having a bourgeois life.

Movie emphasizes their manners mostly at dinner scenes or in cafes.

They all act in a discreet way even in most abnormal conditions.

In one scene it reveals their view of society that they believe society is composed of herds yet they are entitled to live like aristocrats and they will deal with the herd in a politicly correct way.

Movie has political context like Maoist terrorist, drug trafficking at state level, human rights abuse accusations linked to one of the six, who is Ambassador a fictional South American Country.

Movie also displays on the surface, bourgeois manners look cool, but underneath it is as raw as the herd they de taste .

And this hypocrisy, fakeness hit them in their dreams.

Six actors playing the bourgeois were all so natural reflecting the mood of people of bourgeois.

Three hours of experimental movie
26 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Three hours of experimental movie.

Scenes from six to seven groups of people who have different cultures not related to each other run parallel.

In each of them settings, language, talk, cultures differs.

After two hours viewer can still not set the relation between them.

In each group fake, deception love, hate, psychopathy are emphasized.

Among all maybe only relation and dialogues between police officer Jim, and Claudia is interesting.

Claudia is a drug user. One day while listening loud music at home after her fight with her visiting father.

Police officer Jim comes to her house after her neighbors complain and an unexpected relation starts.

Cheap, but entertaining
5 June 2021
I watched all three of the Cruel Intentions.

For the first and the third one
  • setting is good
  • casting is bad
  • plot is good
  • story is bad
  • dialogues are modern cheap thrash.

And for the second one, all are poor.

But two people make great acting.

They are big fun to watch.

They outperform all.

They are Sarah Michelle Gellar in the first one, Nathan Wetherington in the third one.

witty, raw, amusing, psychological
22 April 2021
This is a very nice fairy tail with a moral message.

Animation is great. One would watch it as he is watching his favorite cartoon when he was a kid.

Animation maps perfectly to the concerns, feelings, paradoxes of the modern real life.

Dialogues are raw, and witty and voice fits perfect to the psychology of the characters.

I think this is the best side of the movie.

Maybe most amusing feature of the movie is that modern world's logical and politicly correct dialogues are applied to a fairy tail setting.

This creates much amusement.

And it is a great psychological story though I disagree with the moral message of it, because it is not realistic, but romantic.

Great subject, but poor casting, acting
12 April 2021
I like the subject of the movie, particularly this confession at the end scene reflecting the moral story of it.

" My pain is constant and sharp. And I do not hope a better world for anyone.

In fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape. "

But I am not sure if the cast, acting, camera , music were overwhelmingly supporting this moral message.

Though there were a couple of scenes I loved.

One was when Patrick wants to kill Jean scene where he says "Put it in the carton" to Jean warning for the spoon she was going to put on the table.

I love this about his obsession with order and neatness. This was also a reflection about his concerns about his face, body, dressing that he is putting so much energy for the life style his surrounding expect him to be.

Another scene was when Patrick and his business friends showing off their business cards he goes mad with jealousy , because Paul Allens card looks better There should have been more scenes showing off Patrick's greed, jealousy, and resentment in more horrifying but also subtle way.

And he also hates himself for all this But the link between his hate of himself, and his murders were not strong.

Also about the cast, I have doubts if Christian Bale was the right person for this movie.

I think only two characters were ahead of others giving more enjoyment.

One is Jean (Chloë Sevigny), and other one is detective Donald Kimball (Willem Dafoe)

Alfie (1966)

Is Alfie a psychopath or normal?
30 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I just love this 1966 movie.

It is a UK production One immediately notices this from the accents, characters, wonderful dialogues, the way people and the camera move around.

It is a joy to listen English accent.

Story takes place in London.

Prime character of the story is a single man, Alfie, and he is a womanizer.

He has a very natural self centered personality, with lack of empathy.

He is a car driver in a company, not having big ambitions in life, and living the moment.

In flow of the story, Alfie has relation with five women in a linear form.

In these relations he displays not caring, not emphatic, disrespectful, self centered personality.

And when arguments pop up he has an explanation for everything. And his explanations usually sound "logical".

One unusual feature of the movie is that Alfie also talks to the viewer explaining why he acts like that at key moments.

These were the best parts making one laugh, even justifying him. :-) But also leaves the viewer in doubt with questions like is he right? Should I have some empathy for him?

Does he sound logical/nonsense , genuine/fake? Is he nothing but a self obsessed psychopath?

Two of the girls have genuine love for Alfie, but other two women are with him just for fun, they are settled with their life.

And arguments are always with the ones in love with him.

These girls demand commitment to their relations. On one of them, they have a son.

And these loving girls are very altruistic and bear with him, but up to a point.

But among the five women, most interesting, more strong, most sympathetic one was the wife of his friend he met at Health Recovery Compound.

After a while, particularly after leaving his son, Alfie has health problems, and stay in a Health Recovery Compound for a while.

Here he meets another patient, Harry, whose wife visiting him regularly.

On one of these visits, Harry asks Alfie to take his wife, Lily to back to home.

And on that journey, Alfie has a one night stand with her.

But Lily has great respect for herself, for her husband.

And maybe this is the only woman among all others who gets Alfie's empathy, understanding, even sacrifice.

Movie resurfaces moral questions like should man be responsible, or is he naturally irresponsible, self centered creature, or is this a psychopathic personality?

Should women bear follow their feelings against such type of men, or be logical?

Starting with Michael Caine, all the cast were wonderful, Vivien Merchant, Julia Foster, Jane Asher, Shelley Winters.

Power yourself by reading
23 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It 's very fun to watch this movie. I love the the portrayal of moronic corrupt parents whose life is nothing other than trivial concerns. And then comes their wonderful daughter, Matilda. Matilda literally creates a wonder out of herself without getting influenced by her ignorant parents. She does this by reading a lot.

There are five primary characters in the movie, Father, Mother, Teacher, and School Master. Cast is perfect, they all displayed their characters fantastically. Father is a corrupt ignorant moron. His only concern is to make money in anyway. He is a second hand car seller. Mother is modern pop life wife with her only concern of her look.

Then there is a School Master who is an frustrated fat sportive single woman terrorising the kids. And finally teacher of Matilda's class at the school. She is a good heart angel, and also a victim of school master.

Self created, and self confident Matilda feels strong, and becomes a fighter against all the bullying of her parents, and school master.

I just love the Matilda creating herself by reading a lot of books, but it felt bit superficial when she got witch like powers like moving things around. This is a great raw comedy. But again, witch like talents were bit too much. My most favorite scene was where Matilda visits the Public Library, and librarian lady asks her if she likes to have books with a lot of picture, her response to the lady.

The Drama Queen
10 February 2021
This movie is hilarious And its moral story is a quiet series problem of the modern life, Drama Queen Psychopaths. And this movie displays this sickness so simple, yet so so complex. It is a tragedy, yet it is a comedy. It is so dry, yet it is so fleshed. It is so raw, yet it is so elegant. The plot shows the drama queen, Kimberley, operating on a an environment where all little poor hypocrites are under affection of her. Movie shows how everyone else has a share of hypocrisy, pumping up the dramas of the Queens. And Kimberly knows this, and uses this. That is where her "superiority" over others lies. She knows she has the upper hand. While everyone else is busy with their own petty concerns, devil is busy to prepare her drama based on these petty concerns.

Every little scene, every actor, every acting is prepared with no mistake, and to the point. Casting was great. Everyone performed well. James Woods at dinner scene, Ron Livingston at dinner scene with his wife, Jane Krakowski at news reporting scenes are all wonderful. Take Robert Joy at the court scene. He is so amazing, by just saying nothing. And Evan Rachel Wood (Kimberly) is just wonderful. She is not acting this drama queen, she knows her by heart ( she must have been either exposed to drama queens to much, or herself is one )

Beastly (2011)

Nice to watch, but that is it
22 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is about individual's care / concern about his/her IMAGE, IMPRESSION in the eyes of others in modern society, primarily in terms of physical appearance, and dressing. It is a powerful concern shaping one's relations also, even within a family.

Kyle is a spoiled student, son of a famous TV speaker. His father is an image man and Kyle is brought up with this emphasis. Kyle is not only proud of his image, but also humiliates others who does not fit to his standards. To him, it is a matter of winners, and losers, an extreme case of a common psychology.

In a party, he mocks a girl from school for her appearance, but he gets a big problem out of it. Because she is a witch, and she curses him. He gets a scar beastly face , something he always deeply despised. He begs to the girl to turn him back what he was. She says that she would do it only with one condition. If a girl fall in love with him within six months, he will get back to normal.

His father wants him to live separately for a while, arranges a maid and a blind tutor to take care of him. So Kyle starts living alone.

In the same party he was cursed, he also met with ordinary girl, Lindy. He felt deep inside attracted to her, but preferred to ignore it. As events unfold, he comes across with her again. This time he killed one of her father's drug addicted friends. Now Lindy's life is under danger because of possible revenge. So he convince her, and her father to move her to his house for her safety. He does all this with false identity. And he finds out he is falling in love with her. And he wants Lindy to love him also. So he works for that. And eventually he is successful. When Kyle returns to normal, that is a double win for Lindy, Because she was also attracted to Kyle before hew was cursed.

In fact this is also a movie of a good heart within a bad boy, listen to your heart movie. It reminds you not to ignore your genuine feelings for the sake of fake things. Nice subject, but somehow all actors failed to fill in their roles. One thing was good, reflecting the how superficial and hip-hop a modern young man concerned about his image. That was presented in a good, mockery, fun way. It is nice to watch, but that is it.

tasteless, and incoherent
19 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a tasteless movie. At the end of it I had nothing but a feeling of sadness for the wasted time. It is one of those movies that one remembers nothing of it after a few days. And Leonardo DiCaprio was a bad choice for this role. Nothing to do with his style or quality, but this role demands a different type of actor.

Movie has an incoherent plot, ending with a annoying twist, which makes entire thing worse.

Teddy and Chuck are two FBI marshals assigned to find out how a psychopath woman escaped from Criminal Insanity Hospital Prison in Shutter Island. They are not welcomed and cooperated by the doctors, and officers there. As the events unfold, Teddy confess to Chuck that he wanted this assignment in order to found out the murderer his wife, Andrew. According to him, Andrew murdered his wife by burning their house. And Teddy thinks he is in this hospital, and wants to punish him himself. But as the story goes, Teddy becomes unstable. And at the end, story takes a big twist. Teddy is in fact Andrew. He was a sick person himself at the hospital. He was fooling himself and tries to fool others by such a story he invented himself. And the head psychologist at hospital arranged the plot to enable him to play what he believes. Because head psychologist believed that in this way Teddy will come to a point where he will consciously accept the fact that he is Andrew and killed his wife. In fact nine months ago, he confessed that he killed his wife. But after that he again started playing this theatre. Indeed Teddy is Andrew and killed his insane wife, because she has drawn their kids.

At the end, Teddy accepted all the truth consciously, but also chooses to continue to play the game. And as a result of it he will get lobotomy operation, a brain surgery to turn him to a controlled person. Because hospital is also brain research center, and using hopeless cases for Government test, and research programs.

Hilarious mockumentary
14 January 2021
Sacha Baron Cohen made again a piece of art of mockumentary. This time his target is fashion & celebrity world, and homophobia. In this movie he is Austrian gay fashion tv presenter, Bruno. After getting fired from his job he wants go to America and become a famous at all costs.

During his restless effort he tries everything from bringing peace to Jews and and Palestinians, to adapting African kid. He is again ruthlessly, and shamelessly mocking these world. I love his breaking down all politically / socially correctness on loads of lies. Though one can find it also disgusting, embarrassing, ridicules, but above all it is hilarious.

And his continental gay, Austrian German acting is great.

This is a historical movie about Carl Jung's relations with Sabina Spielrein, and Freud. There is not big story but one gets a good feeling of development of psychoanalysis at that time Excellent performance of Jung (Michael Fassbender), and Freud (Viggo Mortensen) characters charming. Also Viennese Cafe scene, Imperial Magnificence, Belvedere, scene takes one to that period.
