Katt Williams: The Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1 (2006)
Left me CRYIN LAUGHIN!!!
OMG!!! I wished I'd had cable when this came out in September on HBO.
Thank God for Netflix and no late fees! I've seen this show so many times, and laughed so hard, that EVERY time I see it, I catch something I missed before from laughing so hard! And I kept the DVD until my order from Amazon came in cuz I didn't want to spend a day without the preachings from Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1.
And of course I will see him when he comes to town with Pimp Chronicles Pt. 2!!! If you loved Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy's stand up, you gotta see Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love to laugh and this is a definite must have for anyone that loves raw comedy at its best!
Madea's Family Reunion (2006)
Tyler does it again!
I want to be like Tyler when I grow up! How he manages to keep you laughing and crying and shouting back at the screen is amazing! Again, we are entertained by the interaction between Madea and Uncle Joe not to mention the eye candy of Boris Kodjoe and Blair Underwood. I hate that Blair was a bad guy but he was sooo good at it and she got him back!!! As a single parent of two children myself, I understand why she was so hesitant to get involved with Frank... but if I had a man as attentive, not to mention FOIN, as Frank (Boris Kodjoe), I would consider letting him into my heart! YES!!! And anyone that hasn't seen their family recently might end up calling their whole family tree after seeing "Reunion". This man is truly blessed!
Transporter 2 (2005)
Better the second time around
Rarely does a sequel match up to or surpass the original movie but in the case of Transporter 2, considering where the original set the bar, it had it's work cut out for it and it went above and beyond! I loved Jason Statham in The Transporter and before I even knew what the storyline was, as soon as I heard about Transporter 2, I marked my calendar to be sure to see it during it's opening weekend. I am so glad I did! I won't spoil it too much for you but I can assure you the action is amped compared to T1 and THAT was off the chain to begin with! There's no mushy love scenes to spoil the action and the kid isn't syrupy sweet cute while he holds his own with Jason. I loved the bad girl. I mean, if you can kick azz and do it wearing lingerie, YOU GO GIRL... Speaking of going... GO SEE TRANSPORTER 2 ASAP!!!
Bad News Bears (2005)
Not Bad At All!
Just when I had recovered from "Bad Santa", I venture into Billy Bob Country with "Bad News Bears". Billy Bob Thornton is a trip without the luggage! And the kids hold their own right along with him. I wasn't shocked to hear the cussin' from Billy Bob but when the kids started in with him and each other, for some strange reason, I laughed harder! (South Park has numbed me to profanity from kids, I suppose) Greg Kinnear was a bit weak but I wasn't expecting much from his character anyway. I knew when I first saw him on screen that his character was a fake. I could feel the slime oozing off of him! I haven't seen the original to compare this remake to so I can't say if it's better or not but just seeing the new Bad News Bears has renewed my interest in the original.
The trailers were just a teaser cuz the movie went above and beyond the call of duty for comedy! I was ROLLIN'!!! Lookin' forward to the next Billy Bob Bad Azz movie!
Stealth (2005)
Totally Disappointed
I HATE when the trailers are better than the movie! My first attraction was Jamie Foxx cuz he's sexy and funny. Then I wanted to see all the action that they showed in the trailers... Yeah, it was cool to see the trailer action on the big screen but COME ON! Jamie is killed in the first half of the movie and he was a GOOD guy!!! Then Josh Lucas and Jessica Biel with the "should we / shouldn't we" teasing game. The best parts were when they blew stuff up but there wasn't enough action! And the storyline is "I, Robot" with planes. BORING!!! They couldn't wait a few years... We still remember "I, Robot"!!! In fact, the voice of "E.D.I." (the robot plane) sounded like the same voice for "Sonny" from "I, Robot"... Not worth the theatre... wait until it hits DVD... IF THEN!
Fat Actress (2005)
Kudos to Kirstie!
Big or small, I've always thought that Kirstie was a beautiful woman and I just LOVE her voice. I try to achieve it whenever I get laryngitis but I can't compare to Kirstie... But I digress.
"Fat Actress" is SO funny! She may be poking fun at herself but Kirstie does it with style and crass class. It's a bit like a female version of South Park with the crudeness but if I can survive SP, Fat Actress is a cinch! And her interactions with her Kevyn and Eddie are a trip without the luggage not to mention her obsession with Kid Rock... did she GET enough sheets??? Maybe we can look forward to seeing more of her former co-stars on the show... like Kathy Najimy or Ted Danson...
I'm hoping that this show goes on for many more seasons! GO KIRSTIE!!!
Out of Time (2003)
Better than I expected...
I'm used to movies being so predictable that I can say the actor's next line before he or she does. I'm also used to the plotline being so reused that I can almost tell you to the minute what will happen next. Going into this movie ("Out of Time"), I just KNEW how it would go. After I picked up my face from the theatre floor after each plot twist, I gave up guessing and continued to enjoy this suspense thriller.
8 Mile (2002)
If you haven't seen this by now...
If you haven't seen "8 Mile" by now, what the fluck are you waiting for??? This movie was great!!! Personally, I don't think Eminem was acting, but if he was, (outside of the weak azz sex scene) he did it so naturally that I really believed that he was "Rabbit". I especially love the battle scene at the end... "Tell them something the DON'T know about me!"... I plan on letting the world know all about me when I get big so punks like The Enquirer and other dumb azz tabloids won't be able to say sheet about me that the world doesn't already know! Thanx E for the inspiration.
I hope E does another movie. Maybe a comedy with Dr. Dre or something. They seem to have such a good rapport with each other in their music and videos. Maybe they can transfer that energy to the big screen.
My love, prayers, and good wishes go out to E and his loved ones.
