That '70s Show: Holy Crap! (2000)
Day by day by day by day
Easily the best episode of That '70s Show, as it's the one with the most laugh-out-loud moments and best written dialogue. One of the very few episodes with a plot that deals around the whole religion subject, it contains the legendary moment where Kittie goes to church alone, and Leo comes in and sits next to her, completely astonished by the atmosphere, remarking, "It's almost like a religious experience!" Also gotta love Midge's reaction to Kittie being by herself.
Fez competing against Kelso in growing out a beard is definitely in the top 5 best moments in the whole series.
"Aww, now we made Patchy upset"
A few more noteworthy moments are Red's reasons why he doesn't go to church, Hyde's little rant about organized religion, the youth minister's talk in the living room, and the circle was an extra good'un.
10/10
Reaper (2007)
One of the better television show I've seen
And I didn't even see when it was on. Found it on instant Netlix. Maybe if more people like myself had been in tune when it was on, it wouldn't have gotten canceled.
The cast couldn't have been more right on! It was trivial to me while I watched. It was like putting together a puzzle! Sock being the same actor who played that drunk fellow who just needed some coffee so he could drive home in Zack & Miri Make A Porno was far out! "You and your little dog!" Sam was none other than the ill-fated Charlie from That '70s Show, who, in my opinion, kicked Randy's prettyboy behind.
Ray Wise scared the hell out of me in Fire Walk With Me, but as the Devil he's more like an easy going CEO who moonlights as a talk show host.
This show was legendary and I believe that it holds the power of fan potential to get an amazing flick sequel adapted for the big screen! Think All Saints Day, but not ten years away.
Let's get it done!
Electric Apricot (2007)
Glorious!
I saw Les Claypool last night at the House Of Blues in Dallas, and I bought this for THIRTY smackeroos! But it's alright because it's a "limited collector's item" AND because it was absolutely glorious! The comedy is sharp and with the signature cleverness that inhabits all of the Colonel's writing. The culture of the modern jam band world is explored with a mighty thoroughness. A lot of inside jokes for Lesheads. Flouncin Fred, Gabby La La, and Gordo and Aiwass played by Mr. Kehoe Nation and Bob C. Cock respectively. I give it 10 out of 10 and can say I was wholly satisfied as a big Les Claypool fan and as an admirer of good flicks.
"Bound to be a cult hit!"
Envy (2004)
Bah.
I've heard so much crap about this movie, and understanding that, fails me.
The first time I looked at it here on IMDb, it only had like 3.7 stars. I rented this movie, knowing nothing about it. I was just sauntering through Blockbuster, saw it on the bottom of the new releases shelf, saw that Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Christopher Walken, and Rachel Weisz were the main characters, and then I rented it.
It made me laugh many times, and it wasn't a bad film. It was just done in a bizarre way I really have never seen before, and I guess most folks just didn't react to that well.
It's got its fair share of cheesiness, weak points, and flan. But Jack Black shouldn't have apologized for this.
I think it did so bad because the people who hated it, watched it first. And too many people nowadays rely on reviews from others that it ruins a lot of decent films for them. It's definitely a bummer.
7 out of 10 from me.
Epic Movie (2007)
Funnier than Date Movie
It was garbage, but I think that's the point. If I could make a cheap movie like this and get over 16,000 people to watch it, then rate it on IMDb, I would do it in a heart beat.
There were some retarded parts in this, and there were some parts that made me laugh. Kal Penn made me laugh, and the actress who played Lucy made me chuckle a few times, too.
It spoofs a lot of recent blockbuster films and doesn't do a bad job with the spoofing. Just another modern day farce.
There is just a wee bit of talent in this movie (awful acting, directing, writing, etc.) but like I said, I think that's the point.
Poketto monsutâ (1997)
Terrible
If the show and movies had never came to be, the Pokémon craze would have lasted longer and have circulated through all ages. The show and movies took an interesting trading card game and a wonderful game and ruined a reputation.
It says the show started in 1998, but the cards have 1995 copyrights on them. So I'm assuming the cards and games came first. I'm pretty sure the games did.
The games had a great idea, Pokemon were animal-like monsters you caught in a ball, trained and used to fight against other little animal-like monsters. The people who used them, were called trainers and would compete against each other and contests controlled by powerful trainers. You could fight with the Pokémon, and collect them.
The show came along gave the general idea, but put too much personality into the monsters. And the most pathetic concept, was that the monsters could speak. But not in words, only their name. In the game, they made noises like beasts/monsters, which is what they were.
The show made them look cute and cuddly, and the show itself was horrible. The plot in every episode was the same, the dialog was so corny. It was pathetic. Apparently, they are still crapping out episodes and movies.
They should have made a more raw and brutal show.
Blame It on the Fish (2006)
Primus' Return
The documentary Blame It On The Fish is much like the short Horrible Swill piece from Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People, except it's much more psychedelic in viewing. Horrible Swill had the raw feeling of all the "Brown" work from that era. But both are about as abstract as it gets. Blame It On This Fish does a good job showing fans an inside view of Primus's reformation and 2003-2004 tours. Lots of good Primus music and live shots. And several good interviews with the band including one with Les Claypool made up to look like he's 102 years old.
The real nice thing about the DVD are the special features. The Primus 2065 video outlines the history of Primus since it was born in 1984. (Excluding the Jay Lane reformation of 2010 and whatever other future the band holds) Fish On holds a load of excellent extra live footage.
If you are a big Primus fan, Blame It On The Fish will be a valuable part of your collection. Especially for those who loved the band before the Brown Album and Antipop era. Most of the music is from Frizzle Fry-Pork Soda.
Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes (2006)
Could be way better
I am house sitting at the moment for some friends of mine, so with pretty much nothing to do, I did what I normally never do: Watched some television.
I can safely call myself a fan of the horror genre, and I admire Lance Henriksen. So, the original Pumpkinhead movie is definitely one of my favorite horror movies.
I saw Ashes To Ashes on Sci-Fi, and was lucky in the fact that it had just started. I sat there, watching it. And realized it was a rather crappy movie. Bad acting, bad directing, bad script, and the demon itself looked pretty weak compared to its theatrical counterparts. What bothered me the most about him was that he wasn't as monstrous looking as the first two films. My favorite traits of his are his long arms and long talons. In this one, his arms are way shorter, and so are his fingers, and his face doesn't look as badass. He expressions are sort of empty, and he seems to be in a hurry. And when he isn't in a hurry, he looks like he's drugged out; expressionless, and bored.
The only reason I give this flick 4 stars is from Ed Harley's ghost, and beside the fact that the demon's appearance is really disappointing, he still kicks some serious hindparts.
Also, one more thing, the computer graphics are so incredibly bad, I felt like I was watching some CG movie from the mid 90s. It seriously looked like it wasn't finished, like it was the first draft on the computer before they put the skin and face features on.
