The Stand (2020)
Why remake something worse than the original?
If episode 1 anything to go by, this series will be terrible. It's very out of sequence, lacks the opening salve that made the 1994 adaptation a classic, and Whoopi Goldberg as the old black lady is utterly unconvincing. I'm super disappointed in this and can't understand all the 10 star ratings. Are those people getting paid or something? I wonder this because this episode was objectively bad.
Tiny Pretty Things (2020)
Could have been good
It has a decent plot that is obfuscated by mediocre acting and the fact that the entire series is misplaced in terms of time period. The show should have in a college setting. A high school setting is a complete misfire for the plot. Add to that a terrible score, unnecessary settings that are designed to sexualize teenagers (eg, why so many scenes in a sauna!?), and you have a formula for a completely forgettable series. It's a pity really.
Great Expectations (1998)
How do people like this?
It's dribble. Great cast is wasted. Elegant story is reduced to an inarticulate crap show. The score is just plain bad. The renditions of the characters are completely off. This attempt at modernization of a classic tale absolutely fails.
Helstrom (2020)
Great concept, poor execution
This show had the potential to be great, instead it's bogged down by mediocre acting and poor writing. Nothing turns me off more than characters involved in the deepest aspects of life that can't get beyond petty, surficial feelings. Childish, petty, demon fighters just don't make any sense.
Breaking Bad (2008)
This show blows
I'm not sure why this show is so popular. I tried watching it and found it totally out of the realm of believability. Perhaps people who lack life experience so they can't tell how fantastical a tale this is like the show.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
This is a great show.
It's got everything you could ask for in a series. It's set in recent history and mixes the occult, magic, and the social aspects of the 60's in a seemless manner. I highly recommend watching this show.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
They Lost the Plot!
It started interesting, and then ended in a nonsensical manner. It's not deep although it tries to be. They are seriously so far off the mark by the last episode that the teasers they leave for season 2 are unappealing. The idea that the robots programmed to do nothing but take care of children would suddenly decide to fly themselves into a pit of lava that somehow exists at the bottom of the tunnels as the only solution to destroy the worm baby is idiotic. Father would have gone alone if they were following their programming. There is no way they would just leave the kids to fend for themselves. It seriously gets really stupid by the season finale, so stupid it actually made me angry. Don't waste your time on this garbage.
Monsterland (2020)
Dont Waste Your Time
It's a bunch of disjointed stories that try and project depth but fail miserably. The decision to tell a bunch of independent stories leaves the series to fall flat. The idea is sound, and had they connected the stories, then there are some good concepts that could be developed further. Instead, they destroy the momentum of every story, and leave every story unconcluded as if the lack of conclusion is appealing. It's not.
The Boys (2019)
Hands down best show around
This show is the best thing on tv right now. It's unexpected, moves quickly, and best of all, unpredictable. If you're kind of a control freak and like to think you understand the overall goal of a show, then this show isn't for you. If you like shows that lead without letting you know the direction you're following, you'll like this show.
