Unrealistic and Unrelatable

Rich white liberals and their first world problems (well, except for your token black man with a drug problem). Every conversation is rehearsed and scripted. Lots of talent in this movie, but wasted.

Disjointed Attempt
7 November 2020
This movie started off slow. It could not decide whether or not it wanted to be a documentary or movie. It settled on movie. I thought the point of this movie was to tell about the dam, and its adverse impact on the indigenous tribes and environment. The movie glossed over it all. The movie was focused on the story of the girl and her time being lost in civilization. It was all kind of disjointed and mishmashed.

The Orville (2017–2022)

Very good series ...

When The Orville first came out, I never watched it when I learned Seth MacFarlane was involved because I do not care for his sense of humor (A Million Ways to Die in the West, Family Guy, American Dad, Ted, hosting the Oscars, etc.).

But out of sheer boredom due to COVID-19, we watched season 1 on DVD. We were hooked, and have now watched it through season 2. This is a very good series. Some humor, some drama, some action. Very good special effects. This series is so much better than Star Trek: Discovery.

My favorite episode? The one where Bortus and his mate learn how to smoke. Bortus sitting there with a cigarette dangling out of his lips is hilarious.

And, it is fun watching for actors from the various Star Trek series making guest appearances.

Drab and Dreary
5 November 2020
When this show was revived three seasons ago with Roseanne Barr, I watched the first season. It was fairly good. Then Barr got fired. I did not watch it again until last week; the Halloween episode. Geez, this "comedy" is so drab and dreary. It seems to me the writers just want to cover as many social issues as possible in each episode, so the actors just spit out their lines as fast as possible. It is all a jumbled mess. It is trite.

Star Trek for Snowflakes

This series has great special effects, good stories, and good actors. Why the middling rating? Because at critical points in the stories, they always seems to take time out and talk about their feelings. The bad guys are on their way and will be here shortly to end the universe, people are dying all around us, but let us take some time to talk about our feelings about our parents (or lack thereof), our love lives, our philosophy of life, etc. It is just ridiculous.
