The Church (2018)
Time wasted
The overall storyline MIGHT have had potential, but:
1) Acting is really bad, all the way around
2) Special effects are not even as good as a mediocre1970s Saturday afternoon matinee.
I think with decent writing, the storyline could have had a chance, but inspiration was obviously lacking on their parts.
There's really not much more to say except please don't waste your time looking for anything in this hour-and-a-half waste of film that might actually redeem it or the actors. It's just not going to be there. You'd have a better time getting your teeth cleaned or changing your automobile's wiper blades.
Doors (2021)
Skip it
I gave it a 1 because I couldn't give a zero. The plot recap sounded interesting. I watched...and watched...waiting for something to enlighten the overall theme. It's about as interesting as watching your pet rock do push-ups.
Dark Web: The Mystery Box (2020)
Deserves 0 stars
Absolutely nothing redeeming about this film. I don't know who wrote the recap "A group of friends play online game with terrifying results" but they obviously didn't watch the film. Bad acting, no plot, no "game", no "terrifying results." Trust the reviewers and don't waste your time.
Horror Noire (2021)
Actors deserved more
The stories were mediocre, even for an anthology styled film. I think many of the actors could do so much more given better scripts. I hope to see more of them. I've been a fan of Lenora Crichlow since she starred in Being Human (British series). Ditch the writers, keep the cast.
Hosts (2020)
No point here
WARNING.... SPOILERS.
We know who the abandoned parties were, but what has that got to do with the demons? And I don't see a morality point here since the abandoned (innocent) son has been possessed/life destroyed. And the point of all the demons/aliens outside? Just doesn't tie together as a story. A weak plot to serve up brutal, bloody murders.
I can't even rate it at "meh."
The History of Time Travel (2014)
Well Crafted
I thought the presentation format was perfect, and really enjoyed that the subtleties that are introduced allow the viewer their own "a-ha" moment. Once you catch on, you have to keep watching the developments which accumulate more & more quickly. I watched it a second time just to pick up any morsels I possibly missed the first time. Great, innovative SciFi!
The Haunting of Grady Farm (2019)
Pretty Bad
I wasted $4.99 renting this thing. Pretty lame, even for a found footage movie. The acting is not even remotely believable. Must have been made with a $1.95 budget. There's no story, no development, and tons of inconsistencies. Don't waste your time or money on this oinker.
